The side that has more leverage tends to get closer to what it wants. Can leverage arise from those other elements? Yes. But it can also be about timing, the state of a roster, and the potential market created by other needy teams. Aiyuk isn’t doing this because he thinks he’s Jerry Rice. He’s doing it because he knows he has a lot of leverage, and the 49ers showed him that he had leverage by balking at doing ANYTHING besides hoping he comes down in his demands. The Seahawks would’ve traded him or let him walk already. Aiyuk knows he has the leverage because he knows the 49ers are unwilling to cut off the arm (Aiyuk being a disgruntled WR) to save the body (the 49ers’ roster and cap situation). Once a healthy, in-demand, in-his-prime player doesn’t care if he gets traded, and he has a strong market, he has all the leverage. The 49ers need to sh!t or get off the pot. They need to pay the guy already or begin trade talks.

Why would the Steelers want a receiver that divides the locker room and draws attention to himself that is the exact reason why they got rid of Johnson who was taken Pickens down that same road? I believe they got rid of Johnson to try to save Pickens.
