Pearsal opens up the middle of the field and makes our play action game more dangerous. Pearsal can also open up the middle of the field for Kittle, Deebo and CMC on dump offs. His speed makes him an interesting fill-in when Deebo misses games which is inevitable.
@riteousrighthand6144
@riteousrighthand6144 Месяц назад
It's that second part, that I think makes the pick, itself, make sense. However, I gotta wonder, if they were trying to trade out of the first round, and couldn't find a taker? Both Deebo, and Aiyuk, missed time last year, as did Kittle, So this guy brings some capability, when we're down one of the "Avengers", so to speak.
@bigjohn408
@bigjohn408 Месяц назад
@@riteousrighthand6144 exactly what I said and they didn’t want to take a chance and miss him. I see people saying they wanted an OL but I didn’t see a scheme fit . I did like Dejean or kool-Aid but they can get OT patrick Paul or CB Lassiter/T.J Tampa in the 2nd/3rd round
@riteousrighthand6144
@riteousrighthand6144 Месяц назад
@@bigjohn408 The other thing that occurred to me, is that this is Deebo's last year of guaranteed money. I'm pretty confident, that means, Pearsall is Deebo's replacement, come 2025.

More like the opposite. He doesn't "open up" the middle of the field. His strength is in the middle of the field. Your comment implies he's an outside receiver pulling defenders out of covering the middle of the field. But I get it, another weapon, another decoy. He's good. Hope he shuts these haters up.

This is a valuable draft pick, his hands and foot work is similar to what we have on the Team already, with Ayuk, Samuel, kittle, cmc, and juice we just got better at keeping the drive alive and opponents guessing what the next play will be, Good Pick !

Niners already have the toughest receivers in the NFL, so hearing that this guy comes with a similar reputation and can return punts means he hopefully can help the team right away. He sounds like a great fit for the team, and I hope that all the folks who are voicing their disappointment will be supportive of him. He doesn't get to choose where he's picked and who he's picked instead of, so I hope he'll feel the love once he starts playing for us and showing us what he's made of.
@Wolfeson28
@Wolfeson28 Месяц назад
I don't hate the player. Pearsall is still a top-10 WR in this draft by anyone's list, he does have a lot of great traits, and I'm hopeful he can become an excellent weapon in our offense. Plus, go Sun Devils! 🔱(even after they transfer) My issues are just with how early we took him, and the fact that we passed up two excellent players at a position of greater need (CB) in the process. For this season, Pearsall will have to out-compete an established veteran in Jennings just to climb to WR3 (assuming Aiyuk or Deebo don't get traded, which I still do NOT think will happen). His biggest contribution will likely be on punt returns. Whereas DeJean or McKinstry would have had an excellent chance of competing for the CB3 job right off the bat, meaning they'd be on the field whenever we're in nickel personnel, and would be a much more significant contributor. And I certainly don't think our post-2024 needs at CB are any less than at WR.
@josephrapelje4670
@josephrapelje4670 Месяц назад
This pick means one huge thing… I believe it means deebo will traded after this season, due to aiyuk getting about 30 million for the next few years. Deebo is beaten down, due to his physicality and all the attention he gets. He costs a lot and is injured multiple times a year, every year. This is the only scenario I see, this new guy looks like he can take the same end around and jets as deebo, only difference being he won’t take it through the middle… which never liked when deebo did it.

Great pick, and I was very confused with it at first. The more I look at it, the more it makes sense. I watched this guy play for the past year with my Gators, and man HE IS A STUD. He reminds of a lot of Julian Edelman, not flushy or super explosive but ALWAYS OPEN. Also Ricky have crazy vertical range that allows him to make some touch catches. This guy also take mistake seriously and will work extremely hard on the detail to get it right with his QB regardless where he played. He had proven this in the last year with Mertz. I think he and Purdy will have a great connection and help the 47ers, especially in the middle of the field

I like the pick. The Niners have very strong starters, but if any of the WRs or Kittle goes down, it seems like the entire offense stalls. We got to have quality WRs that can play because with a 17 game season, it's almost a sure thing that either Deebo, BA, JJ, or Kittle will miss alittle time.

I have such a hard time being in 49ers fan pages on Facebook because no matter what is picked who is picked how it's picked oh you have so much hate and frustration and anger against the team, against Kyle and John Lynch. It's just ridiculous, and then I come on here and here what you're saying, and it makes it look like it was a great pick. I've always thought that we needed a good slot receiver, and he has the body style of Julian Edelman, or maybe even a little bit of Cooper Kupp. I watched some of his videos and I got Vibes of both of those players. One thing that people don't realize is that John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan will often pick players based on multiple things, obviously skill is important, but ceiling is another thing. But one thing I think that they really take a huge look at is personality and is this player going to be a team player. Hopefully they picked the right guy for the job. Another thing is that people always think that every draft pick is got to be the best player and never have any problems, they don't take into consideration that these people are human and that not everyone turns out to be a star, we can think of a few in the past that we drafted that turned out not to be what we were hoping but we can also think of a bunch that we drafted that were looked at as mediocre and turned out to be Stars so let's just root for our team and hope for the best.

I was surprised by this pick at first. At that point, I thought we'd go CB, McKinistry or DeJean. I would have been thrilled with either. I had other WR's in mind at that draft position, but when I read his reviews, watched his tape and saw that ridiculous one handed catch, I was sold. This kid can play and I think he'll be a willing blocker that will make Kyle happy. He'll get a little bigger and I think he's can get a little faster, but at 4.41 he's plenty fast enough to get to the house with a step. We still have draft capital to get a really good O lineman. There's probably a good DB we can go get in the 3rd too. I also like the flexibility we get with Pearsall. If we don't trade BA or Deebo, then we have 4 really good WR's, at least for a year. BA will play in 2024 with or without a new contract so he can cash in now or in 2025. Plus, he's a baller who won't be able to hold out when there's so much upside to playing in 2024. If he's gone in 2025, his replacement will have a year in the system. I also think a trade is still possible for Aiyuk or Deebo. I've seen Buffalo's two 2nd rounders mentioned and they NEED a top flight WR. I also wonder if the door is really shut on a trade with Pittsburgh, Aiyuk for Fautanu and a 3rd maybe.

@Wolfeson28 Месяц назад
My read on how things unfolded is that the Niners really wanted to take Nate Wiggins at #31 (we know the Niners had an official visit with him), but the Ravens grabbing him at #30 threw them off. The Niners used fully 8 and a half of their 10 minutes on the clock before picking Pearsall, so clearly they weren't ready with his name right away. My guess is that most of those 8 and a half minutes were spent on the phone looking for a trade-back, but they couldn't get one, so they took the guy they wanted anyway even though they knew this was a bit early for him. It seems a little strange to me that the Niners couldn't find a trade-back when Buffalo traded back with Carolina immediately after us. Carolina initially had two early 2nd-round picks (#33 and #39), either of which still would have almost certainly landed Pearsall, plus maybe swapping 5th-rounders in the first case or getting their 4th in the second case. But maybe Buffalo was just willing to go lower than we were. Sadly, still feels like some lost easy value, taking a #40-50 range guy at #31, but hopefully Pearsall does turn out to be what the Niners hope. I guess I also have to question, IF I'm right about Wiggins being the initial plan, why both DeJean and McKinstry were so much less desirable that the Niners went in a completely different direction instead.
@aaronmedeiros9088

This is similar to what i was thinking too. I think Wiggins was the guy BUT i do think they’re super happy with Pearsall. He’s a more athletic cooper kupp. Drafting OT or CB at 31 would be a HUGE reach as there was nobody worthy of 31. (DeJean is nice but i don’t see him as a full time CB on the outside and you don’t draft a backup DB in round 1.) Ditto for OC. This is a pick for now but also for next year when it’s pretty likely Deebo will be gone. Very happy with this pick even if it’s not the CB or OT i wanted. The best guys were gone already. Still some very solid CBs and OT available in later rounds. I really hope we somehow get max melton and rosengarten.

This means the players that the Niners FO want to draft were gone by the time they were up on the clock. They likely went with the player that they feel has the highest first round grade on their opinion when they couldn't get any team to work for a trade down. Their 2nd round is likely a tradeup from that spot, they probably have the Tackle from Washington in mind so don't be surprised if they try to trade their way for a better spot this 2nd round. We seem to be forgetting Banks and Burford were ROOKIE STARTERS. I believe there would be a huge jump on the game of both those players. In that case, we just need one tackle and hopefully a center as well.

someone graded him a C ? is it because of the height and speed ? he has sticky fingers meaning the ball stays with him plus the upside it will be easier for brock to pass to someone not taller than him ?

I'm sorry David, I think the pick is good, but NOT as needed as bolstering the O-Line. With 7 OT already off the boards and seemingly most teams have O-Line needs, I don't see the 49ers getting the Tackle they so desperately needs. I think the 49ers need to trade picks to get another pick before #63 pick to get what they really need a damn good O-Line!

This just goes to show you that no one ever knows who the 49'ers are going to pick. I think it's a good pick. Not expected but the kid can play.

Pearsall is a good all around player, but now do whatever you have to do to get the premier OL NOW !!! While Powers Johnson is still there to be had NOW!!! Trade a couple mid round picks to one of the next 2 teams that in line and GET POWERS!!! Don't let this opportunity go to waste!!!

Soooo many other choices , just like SB kyle chocks . Expect kyle to screw up . Unbelievable, sure he plays but your OL is obviously terrible, other DC 's see the weakness . Protect your QB and you win the SB .

Still concerned the right side of our line won’t hold the test of time. Strongly feel that without one more beast on that line we won’t see #6.

when we drafted him last night, everyone was so negative about him. I mean before this they probably have not heard much of him and they are already making assumption that this is a bad draft......people shouldn't jump in to conclusion so soon. At least watch his highlights first before speaking

Move up and draft a one . I don’t think it makes much sense to draft to an olineman higher than you want in the first when there are a bunch you can move up for in the 2nd round

Kick return/ punt return capabilities are huge here especially since they’ve changed the rules. Also, really looked into Pearsall leading into the draft, aside from being tough, this guy is a gym rat and extremely polished at 23 yrs old. He’s as NFL ready as you can get - literally plug and play. Only concern - will his toughness get him in trouble AT the NfL level? He just needs to temper his capabilities and he’ll be great

First draft pick in 1st round in years... we do not address needs in Def or Off line. So hope this works out but there's a lot of mouths to feed on offense.

It’s a luxury pick. For everyone saying we should keep Aiyuk/deebo the logic was win now. Does this pick warrant a 3rd/4th string WR who can also PR? Seems vastly misguided when CB, OL, and DL were definitely far bigger needs in the SB. Seems like a marginal gain vs what we could of got for immediate contribution.
@NinerKnicks
@NinerKnicks Месяц назад
Will your opinion change about the choice if Deebo is traded and we are still able to fill our biggest needs? We know the Deebo money will in some way help us extend Aiyuk and Purdy. CJ's reaction combined with Belichick predicting the pick on MacAfee makes me feel like we are making smart, forward thinking decisions while remaining a strong, probably stronger unit.

This reminds me of when the Niners drafted Knilaw over Tristen Whirfs when they needed a tackle badly. Why draft this guy when Cooper Dejean and Kool-Aid were available?!
@aaronmedeiros9088
@aaronmedeiros9088 Месяц назад
I disagree. DeJean is not a full time outside CB. He’s a tweener IMO. Nice players but I don’t think you drat a backup safety in round 1. Kool aid is someone who intrigues me but I’m not near as high on him as the first 3 CBs. I’d much prefer max melton although i think he will go very early tonight.

So everyone mad about DeJean but he’s just not a position of need he can’t play outside which is what we need and Powers-Johnson is a center we don’t need center we need guard and maybe tackle so I’m alright with this pick
