It’s not a question of toughness. He’s got that in spades. The contact courage is outstanding. It’s more a question of play strength (and to a lesser extent, size), which currently is less than ideal.

Aiyuk was open a few times(maybe more if the camera pointed that way so that you could see), but Brock didn't have the time to make the connection. And, on Jennings, was his SB success based on a rising up in him or who he was facing(wasn't on the top 2 corners for KC)?! Jennings is the pay-attention-to WR this year: is he a star or complementary WR?! This may have spooked teams in trading for Jennings...

My experience with drafts is that you do not know until they play on the field. In 1995 the 49ers traded up to get JJ Stokes. The experts were saying that the 49ers outsmarted to pull off the deal. JJ Stokes was a major bust and did not pay dividends on that trade up. The other bust was Trey Lance for what they gave up for him which made me sick. To have those picks back.They drafted Mike Rumph a Cornerback in the first round I believe in 1992 who was another bust. I remember another receiver Jenkins who was another bust. You never know until they hit the field.

Regarding Malik Mustapha. JonnyDel posted that he was recovering from a hamstring issue and his 40 time sufferred for it. He said in-game he's hit 23MPH on the GPS monitors. I think Pearsall can play to his timed speed at least sometimes. In one of his highlights he scores a touchdown out of the backfield and he looked faster there than when he's running routes. The contact balance thing doesnt sound ideal, but if BA misses camp Pearsall will line up against Mooney ward at least some of the time, and he'll get some time against a quality press-man CB. And if BA doesnt miss camp? Renardo Green might get to line up against him, and thatd be almost as good. Didnt Green already boast to locking up Nabers, Brian Thomas and Pearsall himself? Yiadem played a ton of press-man last year as well. Wouldnt mind if Ricky hit the weights, though
@MCA2A
@MCA2A 4 месяца назад
He does have some contact issues but he will be fine in most cases.. This is the NFL, not track and field. His first move will destroy most corners and in the 49ers scheme, he will be open a lot. He's tougher than he appears and will only get stronger..

Contact balance is really Pearsall's only glaring weakness. Almost every prospect has a weakness. Mcconkey and Worthy also have bad contact balance. The thing with Ricky is he's strong as hell (17 reps) and he's a gymrat. He can easily get stronger in the core and legs.

It isn't the players the Niners select, generally. It is where in the draft they take them and their continuing distaste for taking a top notch DB (CB) or O-Lineman. I would also add Kyle's obsession with wasting valuable draft picks on RB's when he has a long history of finding quality RB's late and as UDFA's pretty much EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Prediction: Schrader beats out Guerendo...keeping the streak of picks wasted on RB's alive.

the big issue is the stupidity of the fanbase. kyle and john have built a contender from the worst roster in the league. Yet this disgustingly dumb fanbase can't help but whine and cry about every thing they do. their constant stupidity is amazing. the fanbase pushed HARD for trey lance and when the org caved, he was a complete flop. now the org doesn't care about what the stupid fanbase thinks anymore, which is what they should've done from the beginning.

Everyone is on this Debo’s importance to the offense but once we got CMC , he became a luxury and liability. Luxury because he’s basically a running back who can catch which CMC can do well . He’s also a liability because he needs plays drawn up for him to separate . He can’t separate and this past Super Bowl showed it . I rather take a chance on RP who doesn’t mind going to the middle . With Brock as accurate as he is , I think this two will flourish.

Your information is from Ricky Pearsall's Combine report. I recognize the language used since I recently read the report. Hardly secret scout sources. Personally, I think Ricky Pearsall will excel. Production Score 69 2024 Combine WR Rank: 23rd Athleticism Score *test 85 2024 Combine WR Rank: 8th Total Score 78 2024 Combine WR Rank: 16th Prospect Grade 6.32 Will Eventually Be Plus Starter By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst Draft Projection Round 2 Overview Dependable slot target with good size and soft hands who will need to prove that he has the ability to free himself against NFL man coverage. Pearsall might get the stereotypical "crafty route runner" label, but it suits him. He appears to play with an idea of how to manipulate certain coverage looks and leverages. He also plays with attention to detail and a consistent route tempo to create windows, but lacks ideal foot quickness to beat press and maintain separation. While the hands are reliable, he's not physical enough to tilt contested catches in his favor and might have a ceiling of quality backup with punt-return value. Strengths Sinks hips low to snap off drive routes suddenly. Keeps route tempo primed through his turns. Throws subtle jab steps to leverage corners off the break point. Catches with quiet, soft hands to stab drive throws. Adjusts his track and lays out to make the catch. Displayed ability to throw on gadget plays while at Arizona State. Weaknesses Doesn't have the suddenness to slip past committed press looks. High number of catches came running uncovered against zone. Modest catch radius to save off-frame throws. Overtaken by aggressive cornerbacks on contested-catch tries. Sources Tell Us "I don't know how fast he is, but he gets open and he's got great hands -- just needs a more accurate quarterback." -- AFC regional scout Ricky Pearsall Combine Report www.nfl.com/prospects/ricky-pearsall/32005045-4130-7677-7b9e-0f0ef8659c89.

Seems like scouts want to cover their butts incase the guy is a bust. On paper Pearsall looks like slam dunk. A combination of measurables, intangibles and good character. I think this draft shows that the 49ers put a premium on experience, coachability and overall football smarts. I think a lot of teams take the best looking race horses and hope they can adapt to the NFL game. I think the 49ers want to see certain skills demonstrated at the college level as a baseline. Rather than develop a guy for 2 or 3 years then have to pay a big salary if they become good. I don't think anyone put high grades on Kittle and his college record. Ricky Pearsall's RAS score (9.91) was ranked 31st out of 3402 tested receivers from 1987 to 2024. Pearsall's explosion, speed, and agility grades were all elite. His highest grades were his vertical jump of 42 (9.92) and ten-yard split (9.81).May 2, 2024 PBID Name RAS 13505 Cooper Kupp 5 17680 Deebo Samuel 7.91 17555 Ja'Marr Chase 9.82 13071 Tyreek Hill 9.39

I think Pearsall can beat the jam with his footwork, movement and leverage, which is elite. He's so slippery that getting a jam on him will be tough. In Kyle's offense, does not need breakaway speed. Kyle can scheme him open, including after the catch. Green is a dawg. Malik is a DAWGGGGGGGGGG. Both drafted guards move well, play with good technique. Perfect starting point for Chris.

I am confused about why you think Pearsall is not tough, Krueg. I get I do not have access to a lot of tape on him or anything like that. Based on the highlights I have seen, his quarterbacks hung him out to dry. He took a number of vicious, vicious hits and popped back up and kept going. Are you seeing something I’m not? Is there tape of him getting knocked around off his routes or bailing out of plays and blocks because he didn’t want to engage the contact? I guess what I am asking is, where is the evidence that toughness is a concern for him? That said, you’re entitled to your opinion on this pick. You clearly wanted the Niners to draft a different position or a bigger receiver. That’s fair. The other thing I think is interesting is nobody is commenting on Kyle’s comp for Pearsall - which is a way better version of Kyle Shanahan as a receiver. Kyle likes him because he reminds Kyle of himself - but way better. What’s your reaction to that?
@M49Y88
@M49Y88 4 месяца назад
😂 Nobody mock this WR in 1st rd, let alone to the 49ers. Niners use Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings, Kittle, Cmc to attack middle, already. Kyle may be good at offense scheme. But Kyle's/draft selection has been suspect. Good Bosa, Armstead, Bruckner, Warner, Greenlaw, etc n Brock. But questionable. Thomas, Kinlaw, Trey, Sermon, Davis-Price, Gray, etc. College talent doesn't always translate to pros. Draft is about building foundation for future. OT Williams may retire any day. If hurt, line play suffers. Center n right side of line is avg. Ranked #20-28. But they made to SB. I think, Brock's mobility n quick processing bailed out the line a lot. Remember Eagle game, one rush could end the QB season. The D-line used to be a priority. Now, Niners seem to fill needs with re-treads. May be or may not be top talent, Niners think they can coach up or use better. Like Hargrave or Collins? Hargrave wasn't great. Hope, Collins is better. Plan is fill needs with guys on 1-2 yr deals. Means chemistry has to be rebuilt every season. Armstead was a tone setting n locker room leader. Injuries n cap nbr diminish his player value to team. Do the Niners expect the same commitment from guy on a 1 yr deal. Like CYoung, its $$$ n next job. While Niners like Pearsall, couldn't they trade down for him. Paying #1 for slot WR? Bills kept trading down, still got receiver. They needed to get cheaper. So do Niners for 2025, many contract up. Even last yr draft, had 1-2 starters. Moody was not money or Robbie yet. Brown started for Hufaguna (ACL), but did they trust him, brought Logan in for playoff. Kyle/Niners don't play backups enough. What happen to Winters, Graham, Latu (IR), Willis, Luter JR. NFL Season is longer, 17 games? vets were gassed for playoffs. This yr draft, another wait n see. 49ers 21 fun/pass scheme gave defense fits (Cmc, Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, Juice). How to include Pearsall? Or Cowing? Do Niners need Jennings or Bell? Chiefs use press coverage in SB, my guess to reduce Brock's pre-snap reads or quick processing n give more time to rush passer. Niners think a 3rd Puni can fix OG or center? My guess, more team will use press coverage on Niners if they have the DBs. As fan, i was hoping for a foundation player, DT like Armstead or DE like Bosa or OT like Williams. Niners got another WR? Not a Deebo clone, many bigger WR were available. Niners seem to do most things right, or just damn lucky. Brock pick, kind of saved the Trey pick. Did Niners get better? Only time will tell. Let the camp battles begin.

These draft assessments are really just the inverse of the mock draft scam. They’re now in the barn. Let them now show us what they can do against NFL quality matchups. Krueg has some good takes, because he knows how to scout. 49ers aren’t perfect at drafting, but they have enough success, that it would be wise to wait and see, before sounding off. With Conley and snead as depth did the niners really need to reach in the first round to grab a wr? I think not. Is pearsall a good player? Probably so. Priorities during the draft and value elude this organization. I don't have confidence in Renaldo green. I think he'll get torched at the next level. They should have grabbed the best corner or best center in the first round, then went from there. Each were available for b.p.a.

I think I trust Shanahan’s evaluation of a good wide receiver for his team then Scott McLean because this is Shinhan‘s is coach the best wide receivers the guy from Seattle who Scott McClean he was not a true number one Shannon had multiple number one so I’m taking Shannon point much more Scott Mick in this area

Within 2 yrs Powers Johnson will be a top 10 center in the league, makng a huge impact. Pearsall wont even be top 40 WR and his impact will next to nothing this year and probably insignificant next year, being 4th string.

Pearsall and Guerendo were dumb picks. We should have taken Jackson Powers Johnson and Javon Foster or another Tackle. Both players will be on the bench all year unless there are injuries to the starters. Powers Johnson would have started every game.
