There was one 3rd quarter play, it was a fake handoff, and a quick throw to Deebo as he motioned, but the defender flashed through the line and had pick6 written all over it, Purdy clutched the ball and took off running for a good 12+ yards... that's the kind of mentality I want my QB to have.
If youre talking the screen play, it looked more like a designed qb run to me since it looked like purdy didnt really commit to a throw and then ran no hesitation. At least to me
I needed Jonnydel to break this down for me, I wasnt commenting on anything until I got your breakdown. 6:40 This is where I told everyone to shut the hell up about Brock last week, Brock is a timing route specialist, with throwing rookies in a game that he has no continuity with, you are left with bad timing throw. I said let him atleast get a practice in before you start throwing him to the wolves. Once the timing is down Brock will cook again Also people didnt realize Juice tripped on that block
I love the way you put together the all 22 Johnny. You explain it so clearly I would suggest you submit a resume to the 49ers to show them how you explain the intricate details. You are a Terrific analyst! Cheers brother Mike from Thailand 🇹🇭
Great show as always. Really looking forward to what Kyle has dialed up after the bye. I think he's gonna come out swinging with some wild stuff against Tampa.
I like the raw, emotional, uncut Johnny material. This is just so...polished :) Is sloppy receiver play directly a result of Kyle, or receivers coach/players themselves?
What’s your take on Saubert? Between blowing that block last week (paired with Banks) and the critical hold on the Deebo explosive this week, seems like he isn’t cutting it
Hey JD, there seems to be some regression in Purdys throwing and accuracy. How much of this would you consider legitimate regression over situational as in missing key pieces to the offense, issues on the oline, and pressure for purdy to extend and produce plays over his receivers currently? Thanks for the awesome video!
11:05 IMO this play is a TD if Jennings or Aiyuk is on the field instead of Conley. He's been filling in alright, but the downfield blocking just isn't there. Hope Jennings is back after the bye, love watching his blocking on pass plays.
At the play at the end, when Brock got sacked, I'd rather seen Juice in the backfield instead of Guerendo. He's much more versed (and stronger) in blocking against the Blitz
17:49 I was really curious to see you break down this play from the moment it happened. The broadcast view was good enough to tell that it was some kind of combo coverage, but the zone and man sides seemed reversed for Cover-3 Mable (my first thought), so I wasn't entirely sure. My best guess was that Brown was supposed to pick up a crosser from Ceedee's side rather than stick with the TE going inside (Fred's reaction seemed consistent with that), but apparently that wasn't quite it. I am really surprised to hear you say that it was actually Mustapha's responsibility to pick up Ceedee, though. That seems like a *long* way for him to go, with considerable traffic to negotiate from the in-breaking routes on the other side. Brown or Warner looked like they would have had a better path to pick up that route.
After the play, I could see Mooney Ward turn to Mustapha and point at DeeDee Lamb. That was one clue. From there, I reverse engineered what would've made the most sense, in that situation.
11:31 Chris Conley needs to block down field when the action is coming his way. Cant have guys clogging the route who cant throw some sort of block to help get even a couple extra yards.
Johnny! Love your breakdowns! Hopefull you can answer this because you're a smart guy. On zeke td in the first half with the ball on the 1 yard line, why was the 9ers defense in wide 9 formation? Are our coaches that dumb? Spagnuolo had his defense with dam near 10 guys in the box last week on our first drive on 2nd, and 3rd down.
Last year at this time we were 5-3. This year 4-4. All of one loss behind. And rumour has it we went to the Super Bowl last year, Get healthy. Get the details down. Be more physical throughout the roster... and go close the season out with nuthin but dubyas.
With the edited videos it helps the empty space of letting plays run not be so....empty. pretty common on a lot of production stuff. This season I've been having a hard time finding the middle ground of too quiet and too loud for people
To say the cowboys are struggling is not only wrong but a lie and I can prove it What if I told you that the cowboys are the video game equivalent of a "skill check boss" for the playoff, and I can explain. Between 2021-2023 the cowboys have been 36 and 15 of those 36 wins 10 came from teams to make the playoffs. Of the 15 losses 13 were to teams that made the playoffs. When it comes to teams not making the playoffs the cowboys are 26 and 2 so the cowboys are 92% likely to beat a bad team. Of the 10 wins 6 came in the division so they have 4 wins against playoff teams outside the the division. So Dallas only beats a playoff team less then 12% of the time if your outside of the nfc east. So if you beat Dallas there is a 87% chance you're making the playoffs. The only 2 teams to beat them boys and not make the playoffs during that time was the 2023 cards and the 2022 jags. If you're wondering the 10 wins were 2 from the giants, 4 from the eagles, pats, bengals, vikings, rams. The cowboys have issues beating good teams. So far this season they have played 3 non playoff teams and 4 playoff teams and sure they got a win of pitt and just like the last 2 years dropped a game they shouldn't have to the Saint but by my math they should be 3 and 4 right now. Even the magical run from 2018 had a lot of bad teams in the second half. Of the next 10 games they have 6 against playoff caliber teams of those 6, 4 are from the nfc east which they win 66% of the time So they have maybe 5-6 wins left in the season. They are an 8 or 9 win team, they are not struggling they are right where they should be.
