The Referees call holding on everyone except the Kansas City offensive tackles. Never seen so many holding go uncalled!😂

Yes, I remember the Dempsey kick. He had a club foot and kicked straight ahead like all kickers back then. Soccer style kickers came later. That record stood for a while.

Josh, you may recall that I once called for you to be named MVC, i.e. "Most Valuable Commentator" and that is even more true now. Your videos are the most entertaining as well as the most enlightening and educational, they've taught me a lot about football. And yes I do remember Tom Dempsey's 63-yard field goal when he kicked it back in the '70s.

That's awesome! I love the history of the game and how we've gotten from Point A to Point B. That's something I don't think is valued as much as it should be in the modern game.

I was at the game, that Fred Warner pick-6 was unreal, and amazing to watch happen. Thanks for another great breakdown, keep up the amazing work!

Great video and choice of plays to cover, Josh. My favorite part about the Warner pick-6 at 6:58 is the way that the safeties (Mustapha, Brown) sprinted to block upfield as soon as they saw Warner with the ball. Lenoir, Yiadom, and Bosa (x2) provide the crucial blocks to give Warner a chance at the edge. Their extra effort for their defensive captain to finish off a spectacular play really shows the 49ers team mentality. Go Niners!

Thank you Hugh. And you're right, the effort of the team on Warner's return is what made the difference.

Gotta toss some respect to Brissett on his int to Warner. He gets knocked down as he threw the ball but still gets up and tries to make a play. Unfortunately for him he gets absolutely clobbered by Brown and Ward. Two times in one play.

The Niners sent more 5 man pressures and gave younger players more playing time. The Patriots offensive line has struggled all season.

Almost seemed too easy despite a few "oops" moments. Hope the guys can fine tune their game against the Cardinals - Seattle looks like a contender this year. Despite the "ratings", Purdy is still the BEST. Go 9ers!🤠

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend where Brock tries to force the ball downfield and there’s a wide open check down available. The interception was a prime example. I know CMC is out, but you have to take the layups
@samuelault4723
@samuelault4723 15 дней назад
He passes up checkdowns all the time, this isn’t something that just appeared after cmc’s injury
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 15 дней назад
It's not necessarily a trend but more of a philosophy. Brock reads in this order: Touchdown, check down. If the TD isn't there he moves to the check down. Not every quarterback does it this way. One QB who did was Steve Young. There's precedent for success using either method.

I disagree with the Kittle holding call being a bad call. His hands were on the inside of the shoulders but when he was releasing the defender his left hand pulled the pads of the defender causing him to stumble slightly. That's what I think was called.
@melbea03
@melbea03 15 дней назад
That could be called on every snap of the game , major league ticky tack call
@bobbymira8234
@bobbymira8234 15 дней назад
@stefpip - Nah, gonna disagree. Kittle did not hold. His hands were inside the entire time and once the defender started to break away, Kittle released him right away, there was no tug. And Kittle is prob the best or one of the best TEs in the game and tops at blocking. He wouldn't be that upset if he felt he might have held. He KNOWs he didn't hold, which is why he was arguing the call, which he never really does. BAD call.
@bobbymira8234
@bobbymira8234 15 дней назад
Also the NE defender sold it by acting like he was held. He was just mad he couldn't beat GK.

15:30 absolutely made me sick that the Niners extended McKivitz’s contract. The last two years, just terrible and the reason why Brock Purdy is “so good under pressure.” Where did you get this stat btw?
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 15 дней назад
I heard it on a podcast and wrote it down; I know that's a bit sloppy of me so I apologize and will get back to you with an exact time stamp for accuracy. It is consistent with what I'm seeing here, although this has not yet been updated through week 4: x.com/AcccountStat/status/1836515016331432168
@JoshBreakdowns
@JoshBreakdowns 15 дней назад
Hey Matt, sorry it took me so long to come up with this, again I was a bit careless with this, but the stat is correct. It was reported by Matt Barrows at the 33 minute mark of this episode of the 49ers+/- Podcast here: open.spotify.com/episode/2vcZ1pponhO3zqdcnOzl2v?si=Z4BUo3eiRlSnVjrUajBqYQ&t=1995 It was also reported by Matt Barrows in writing in The Athletic, which you can find here. www.nytimes.com/athletic/5797663/2024/09/27/san-francisco-49ers-problems-positions/ As of Week 3 (not sure when the stats get updated for Week 4) McKivitz leads the NFL in pressures allowed.
