I love Ayuik but truth be told I hope the 49ers do the right thing and make the smartest decision not just for the present but for the future.... We can't have 2 receivers making 25 plus a year with Purdy in 2025 - Ayuik is better than Deebo I predict in 2025 and beyond Ayuik will be a Niner and Deebo will be gone and I think would be the smartest decision.
49ers offseason acquisitions tell you that they’re looking for a replacement (younger, cheaper and healthier version) for Deebo. I agree with you that it’s not likely that Deebo will be a 49er in the 2025 season.
There's merit to that argument, but that's a question for next offseason. For this year, the best thing for the team's championship chances is to keep both, which it seems they're doing. And if they want the best situation for Aiyuk to play well, that probably means getting his deal done this offseason.
David can you make a compelling argument that the team got meaningful contractual concessions from dragging the negotiations out? From the couch here it feels very much like the team ended up paying what everyone thought they’d have to pay and only hurt themselves by dragging it out. If Aiyuk is going to get 30m apy (with expected amounts guaranteed) then why drag this process out to maybe save 1m apy or something? Is this just paraag trying to win his personal Super Bowl each year?
I don't expect Aiyuk's contract to be done until July. No one complained when Bosa held out, missed training and some games and got paid Big. Why you picking on Aiyuk?
Bosa is the best or top 3 in his position and has been almost since he was a rookie, aiyuk is very good and the numbers showed that the last two seasons, but you’re talking about paying a top 10 guy top 5 money basically, plus you act like they haven’t done this with deebo before
@@sinizter7821Aiyuk wpuld easily qualify as top 5 if he got the targets the top 5 receivers get. He had some of the least amount of targets of all WR yet still managed to get 1300+ yards. He deserves every penny.
@@chrisputnam4163 I know and I love aiyuk, I think he should get every penny too I don’t disagree with what you just said, but if we talking about a guy that wants 30 mil when the niners are close to paying a few other guys, I can see why they’re stalling🤷♂️ 30 mil for a wr is a lot for the niners rn
This is another summer filled with the same drama as Bosa. Sell in may and go away. Worry about this in September... if he goes well, he'll not have the chance for a Superbowl Ring... plane simple🎉
...pay the man already! He's proven his worth over and over and we need him! That catch he made in NFC Championship game put us in the Super Bowl. And while you're at it, pay Brock, too!! Niners famous for dragging their feet on money matters! 😖
How is it that the Eagles, Lions, and other teams are able to extend their star players in a reasonable if not quick time frame, to a fair market value contract before the market resets again, and the Niners consistently don’t get deals done until the last second while costing the player valuable offseason time to focus on the season and get in shape. It’s drives me absolutely nuts. Just get the fucking deal done!
I don’t understand why these things are drawn out so long. Just get it done and get the team ready for the season. I think Deebo will be gone next year and we pick up a high draft pick.
If these negoiations slow the progress of Aiyuk being productive in 2024, Kyle will design plays for & use Ricky Pearsall. But Ricky's not my guy. My guys are Dominick Puni & Drake Nugent!
No reason for BA to be at OTAs per the standard agent playbook. I hope BA is refined enough in his thinking to allow that he essentially underperformed with Jimmy G. His unique route adjustments at which he excels requires a quick and the ability to deliver a dart into a small window. This is provided at an elite level by Brock Purdy. If BA thinks he can get that maximization of his talent just anywhere that has unused salary cap, he is n for a tragic disappointment.
So much for players who say they don’t play for the money,it’s the love of the game, I wish someone would figure out what the average person makes in a life time of working compared to what these players make playing a game. It’s pure greed on there part
Don’t discount that these guys put their health on the line every time they suit up. They make a ton in their prime, sure, but they’re also a bad game on turf away from pain for the rest of their lives. Also: as a fan, it’s easy to say „why don’t the take a discount out of loyalty?“, but every team is cutting players without batting an eye if they perform below their wage (case in point: Armstead), so why should the players show loyalty that isn’t extended to them in return?
Pay the man. But don't make the same Samuel or Bosa mistake. Performance clause. I'll pay you. But you need to perform at minimum as last season. If not you get the money next year.. sorry but big money to the latter for shit output hurt us
I can't stand players who put themselves before the team. You can still make more money than you can spend in a lifetime while not handicapping your team financially. It sucks Aiyuk had to turn into a diva. If we are going to get rid of anybody I hope it's him. It's all about money for him. We don't need that.
Bro what did you have this same energy for Nick Bosa , this is a business man considering what he has produced he has more than earned the right to want to get paid, we don’t know what kind of player Ricky pear is but we do know what Brandon ayiuk is and has been
@:rubenmycox Dragging what out? The 49ers never do contracts this early. They always wait until after the draft and then start negotiating. Also, so much gossips and rumors about Aiyuk trade caused fans to rush and push for a contract, but the contract never comes this early. You need to research what John Lynch normally does.
I do not see how the 49ers can afford to give both Aiyuk and Purdy big long term contracts. I foresee the 49ers allowing Aiyuk's contract to run its course and let another team take him and take their compensatory third round pick. Pearsall and Cowing will be able to make up for him being gone.
Trade him now? Would have been better to do that before the draft. BA was much better than Deebo in the Super Bowl. We likely would have won if he had gotten more targets. He only had a handful all game iirc.
6 targets and them not game planning to get him the ball is crazy. Game plan was Cmac, Deebo, Jennings. It’s no way Aiyuk and Kittle are on the bk burner.
No one picked on Bosa getting his contract because he was defensive player of the year. Brandon Aiyuk isn’t even looked at as a top five receiver in the NFL.
Pay Ayuk trade Debo. It’s the only way there’s no reason to have two wide receivers making 25+ million a year on the same team especially with the cap.
