「花の醍醐」といわれるように醍醐寺は桜の花で有名。これは，太閤豊臣秀吉が贅を尽くした「醍醐の花見」を，ここ醍醐寺で行なったことによる。

Daigoji Temple is famous for its cherry blossoms, as it is called "The Daigo of Flowers''. This is because the Taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi held his lavish "Daigo Cherry Blossom Viewing'' here at Daigoji Temple.
On the equinox of spring, the Kawazu cherry blossoms begin to bloom in Kenshinrin-en, weeping cherry trees, Somei Yoshino cherry trees, wild cherry blossoms, double cherry blossoms, and the large red weeping cherry blossoms at Sanbo-in Temple and the Daisen cherry blossoms next to the Kondo hall are in bloom for about three weeks until they finish blooming at Daigoji Temple. Various types of cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
