“Apocalypse Now” (1979) won two Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Sound and the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Director Coppola filmed the movie in Baler (Aurora), Pagsanjan (Laguna), and Iba (Zambales) in the Philippines. The movie grossed over $100 million. "Platoon" (1986) won four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing & Best Sound. It also won numerous awards in Golden Globes, BAFTA, and a few to mention. Director Stone filmed the movie in Mount Makiling (Laguna), Cavite, Villamor Airbase (Pasay) and near Manila. The film grossed $12.9 million.
(Not really sure about the "Rambo" series of movies) but most Vietnam war movies have been shot in the Philippines with both (Vietnam and Philippines) sharing almost the same flora and fauna (well, almost since "ipil-ipil" and/or falcata trees grew exclusively in the Philippines (I believe it was one of the scenes of "Platoon." There is also an island somewhere wherein most of the inhabitants were Vietnamese expats.
@@giovs3410 That is so right. They have a beach in Vietnam that looks very similar to Coron Island, Palawan and their food, they have balot, taho, ginataang bilo-bilo, lechon kawali....just to name these dishes similar to Vietnam. One would think that to open a Filipino street food in Vietnam, it might just click. 😁😁😁
Wow this is my first time knowing survival shows film there. I'm so proud watching the cinematography I hope future cinematographers , or videographers Filipinos will develop more the industry to boost our economy as well.
That is why why as a Filipino/a been so many provinces ((work related), Palawan is the only place/province in the Philipines where I fell in love and dreaming to go back there someday soon.
That might be true but the trash specially in towns and cities are a disgrace. Only us filipinos ruin this country due to irresponsibility and lack of discipline. Made poverty one of the excuses for destroying the environment. Wish the government and the lgu impose very strict rules not to throw your trash everywhere. Sometimes penalty will give a wake up call to our irresponsible brethren.
There was this American survival show entitled "Naked and Afraid XL" or "Naked and Afraid: Savage" (2018-2019) and "Naked and Afraid of Love" (2021) which is also a survival show but at the same time, a dating show. Both of these shows also took place in Palawan, Philippines.
Your info is lacking. In 1994, I was part of the Art Dept. crew from Philippine Film Studios Inc. Together with TOEI Company of Japan, we shot a Japanese World War 2 film. The title was " Kike Wadatsumi Nokoe". The actors were well known in Japan at that time. There were a lot of Japanese film crews and media from Japan were documenting the filming. We stayed in Palawan for about 7 weeks to finish the scenes.
A few seasons of amazing race They were in palawan too and in metro manila (in Pasay city to be exact) Fast and furious, apocalypse now and platoon. There may be some other movies too
@@tropicalparaiso along roxas blvd raja soliman shrine as part of the stage of the race and the final stage somwwhere near the coconut palace i guess it was a long time ago. The host was with the daughter of pres. arroyo then. And also a season in amazing race they were somewhere in binondo san nicolas street not too far from divisoria. Yes they were in divisoria and recto.
@@rice6682 Philippines as a country never ceases to amaze. Yes lots of flaws but overall it's a rich country in terms of natural resources, beautiful scenery, wonderful beaches, vibrant mountains, cool rivers and lakes and most especially the multi-faceted culture. It's just not nature that attracts foreign visitors, even the unique chaotic but at the same time beautiful urban landscapes such as the rajah Soliman park. And you say Divisoria too? It's a very busy place with lots of merchants and sidewalk vendors 😆. But I'm glad it was included in their episode
YOU DID NOT MENTION A BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE CALLED "LOST" starring Gerard Butler. The movie is about a plane making an emergency landing on what turns out to be an island in the Philippines (Palawan)!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I could mention it all. But I would love to have conversations with the viewers just like you. Thank you for joining the conversation in this educational and informative video. I appreciate it much. Please support my channel by subscribing. Thank you 👍🥰🏝️
The movie TAR was supposed to be filmed in the Philippines, but because of the pandemic, the local government did not allow them to shoot there. They shot it in Thailand but made it look like it was in the Philippines.
Fun fact: in the scene 4:18, those guys were christians and was introduced in LifeChurchPhilippines which is also in palawan, puerto princesa. 5:07 in his shirt it says "Jesus" which means that it was that time where they were introduced to LifeChurchPhilippines 0:04 that is Bourne legacy, in philippines, palawan, El nido Looks like im right, because we are filipino and we lived there
BTW the behind the scenes of the 1990 action movie made by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. is Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection were shot in the government building in the Philippines located in Intramuros, Manila also known as the Walled City and then of course Tagaytay City in Cavite province
That is why im wondering why the government facility of el nido still not develop and behind compare to other municipality in other areas of Palawan despite of rich tourism and golden invesent in the area..
I just can't remember the title. There was this popular Korean Netflex series aired in USA just a few years ago where the leading man and leading lady supposedly met on a vacation in Boracay. I said man I've been there.
Survivor was never filmed in Palawan. Seasons 25 and 26 were filmed in Caramoan(26 was aptly named Survivor Caramoan). Seasons 27 and 28 were in Cagayan(Season 28 is entitled Survivor Cagayan)
Wow I didn't know that. By the way how they were able to get a permit to film? We all know that Philippines is very strict and conservative when it comes to nudity😅
Bourne Legacy isn’t critically acclaimed. Michelle Yeoh isn’t the first Asian to win an Oscar. Which episode in Westworld? Million Dollar Islands looks interesting
Amazing race they also drop here They went to coconut place they go to Cavite and do farming and also they put some part of Philippines numnber one transportation the jeep and they do raffeling in palawan i dont remembered the year but sure some will remember that
During a live TV Show hosted by Kris Aquino entitled: Game na Game Ka Na Ba? Kris raised a one Million Peso Question to the participants to qote "who was Ferdinand Magellan's slave when he travelled to this islands in 1521? It took sometime this question was answered. Please add this ABS-CBN TV Show hosted by Kriz Aquino in one infamous program in the Philippines.
Yup! 😂 I hired a female American voice over artist mahal kasi singil ng mga Filipino voice overs, P10,000 ang singil per 1 minute. Just kidding 🤣. I just find it unique using those voice overs with slang accents. Di bale pag lumaki na channel ko I will hire Noli De Castro or Jessica Soho to make a voice over on my contents. Sa Ngayon please do subscribe, so that one of these days I will have a perfect beautiful female Filipino voiceover 😊🏝️❤️
@@tropicalparaiso Well it’s insulting to Filipino language because i had to learn English pronouncing the words correctly. Since they can’t pronounce our words then they should learn those words correctly
Only a portion. I did remember at that time that the Philippine Army did complain as reported that most of their Huey choppers have somehow been "thrashed" after being borrowed by some "Hollywood" guys.
@@tropicalparaiso Philippines never really had it can call it's own ( a few scraps here and there most probably) as most of those equipment were either rented from private individuals or from the US Federal Government (batches of antiquated M1 Garand rifles have recently been returned after years of service.) I mean, those people from Hollywood come in highstrung and wreck everything and they know that it is the Philippine Government who will bear the cost and all the locale had was some kind of a muffled ad "oh! They did these here and there!!" What a bummer!
Batanes is also a very beautiful place, but the beaches are very rocky and treacherous. Palawan has very rich biodiversity compared to Batanes. But I would love to go to Batanes too ❤️😊
Why do you not research how a place is pronounced before creating a content. No negativity meant I'm getting cringed for all multiple times PAlawan instead of paLAwan. It's just me. Again no negativity meant. Content creators use Philippines for likes and to gain more followers but please pronounce places correctly
That"s the magic of it. The slang word itself will be relatable to every English speaking country in this world and to those who are trying to learn the English language aside from the Philippines. What really important is how you tell the story. Syempre alam ko kung paano bigkasin ang Palawan sa salita natin. Sikreto natin to ate ha😉😅 iloveu😁. Si Mr Bean nga di nagsasalita pinapanood mo lng video nya pero tawa ka ng tawa🤣❤️❤️❤️
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a laughing stock for people when he first came to the US because of his accent and how he pronounce the English language. But the tone of his voice, accent and how he pronounce it made him one of the bad ass famous action star in Holywood.😁
@@tropicalparaiso anything that you can safely touch, but has poison inside its body that has to be spat or bitten to get into your system, is venomous. A poison toad for example is poisonous to the touch and its toxin affects you thru contact rather than a bite. A poisonous toad has a venom that secretes thru its skin making it poisonous, not venomous.
I hope they keep Palawan pristine. Filipinos have ruined other formerly pristine resorts due to over development. As to the country being a paradise?! NO. Otherwise, Pinoys would not be immigrating everywhere.
I think immigration has something to do with finding job opportunities. People have different mindsets when it comes to earning money. I know some Filipinos who own a business and earn well. Some have high paying jobs while others cannot find a decent job. I don't even see that the Philippines is poor. It's just that people have different mindsets when it comes to opportunities. Some can find good opportunities here in the Philippines while others find opportunities outside the country. Palawan and Boracay have won so many awards from the international body, i don't know how your definition of paradise is.
