During the summer the Scenic train ride on the Bergen Line gets diverted over the Gjøvik Line due to major maintenance work on being done on the railway network in and around Oslo. The west corridor is usually closed for weeks at time whilst heavy renewal is being done to make the network more robust and less maintenance demanding in the future.
During this period all trains to and from the Bergen Line and freight trains going to the South Line is being diverted over the Gjøvik Line via ROa between Oslo and Hønefoss. Theg Gjøvik Line is in fact part of the original Bergen Line.
