I remember when the ride operator would take your name and ET would say it at the end. I was a little kid at the time and that was honestly the coolest thing ever! Made my whole trip.
Steven Spielberg said himself if this ride against taken down he will basically Sue Orlando even though that ET ride is outdated and everything he literally said himself that if ET ride gets taken down he will have a fit with Orlando so that's why they kept it for so long which I think is awesome because I love the ET movie as well as a ride
I rode this ride for the first time 2/22/22 at 29 and I was amazed also I feel like people are so busy looking for the imperfections they don’t realize how amazing it is
I vividly remember riding this when I was very young. I'll never forget the feeling of truly believing I was flying through space. I even remember holding in my breath because I was scared there would be no air!
As a 26 year old who rode this last year. I will never turn down an opportunity to ride front row with the basket holding E.T. I did it twice. I asked them both times and they let me lol. Truly a timeless classic ride made after my favorite movie of all time.
I wouldn't worry. Steven Spielberg made it clear that the E.T. ride in Orlando has to remain permanently in the park. He was upset when it was closed in Hollywood & Tokyo. So he used his business relationship with Universal as leverage to make sure the Orlando version would never close.
It should be updated. I could see this being one of the better dark rides at Universal. Imagine if they turned it into a vekoma flying coaster (new generation like F.L.Y.) or a vekoma motor bike like tron.. ugh it would be so good!!!
I remember when I was a kid in very small town in Brazil watching the movie in my humble small tv room. I never dreamed I could afford to go to universal studios, then when I was 46 years old I could afford to go there. Ir was a dream that came true. I can’t express my feelings at all ❤
I’m 20 years old and have been lucky enough to visit Universal Studios Orlando three times, and ET will forever be in my list of favourite rides! such a great film and this ride just makes me feel so nostalgic
Went as a kid in LA and now want to ride this version in Florida. ❤ Visiting the USA from New Zealand and riding ET was one of my earliest memories. I was scared yet exhilarated and found it magical. I even got a huge ET doll to take home.
I am from BKK. Back in 1996, I took almost 20-hour flight to Universal Studios Hollywood with my parents. It was my first time both in the States and USH. I never forget this E.T. ride. Especially when E.T. said my name at the end of the ride.
This ride and mummy are universal's best. It's the imagination and world building that just blows me away. the amount of hard work in making so much of that world actually there is just mind boggling. It reminds me of Japanese Disney.
i use to go to the one in California everytime I went, it's definitely one of my favorite dark rides of all time and was bummed when they closed it down. i didn't realize there was one still open. thanks for posting this was a great nostalgia trip
Forreal! It has such good bones and it's clear that people still love it - just needs a bunch of updates to modernize it (even just a fresh coat of paint and some new lights would breath new life into it).
So glad to see this in high quality. My dad visited Universal in the nineties and showed us exciting kids the crappy VHS recording he made. It’s great to finally see it in good quality.
Peter Pan but ET haha. Love seeing ET's planet in the Neverland portion. Never saw that in the movie. Appreciate the effort made here, even if the age does show.
Me and my sister went to Universal Studios last year, we were mostly in Wizarding World but on the last day we walked around and decided to hit this ride last. Someone there told us it was the last original ride from when the park opened years ago. I'm so glad we went here. It was so amazing; the mechanics of it, the little details from the movie, but the craftsmanship that went into it was amazing. All laid out and built, no greenscreens or anything. Not dissing the rides that had greenscreens or projection at all. It was more like seeing where amusement rides started at and how far they progressed, best of both.
I remember when I was a kid I got creeped out waiting in the line for this ride. It seemed so real and it also felt creepy when his teacher showed up and said stuff.
i miss this ride a lot i remember every time i eat food with my family we would ride this after we eat since it’s calm and it gave us enough time to digest
I remember my first time on this ride and at first I didn’t want to go but it turned out to be amazing for me and it is one of my favorite rides in universal studios
Rode this for the first time last week and it ranks in my top three favorite Universal rides. Only problem was the ET head wouldn’t rise from the basket which really stunk since I was lucky enough to get that seat.
Wish Universal Hollywood kept this. Never got to ride it. I'll have to venture to Uni FL one day to experience this, along with the bigger and better HP world over there.
Unfortunately the 1 in Hollywood wasn't under contract with Spielberg. The 1 here in Orlando is written into a contract so Universal can't touch it without Spielberg's consent. He helped build the Orlando park.
I miss this ride :’c we used to have it at Universal Hollywood but not anymore 💔 I loved this movie so much as a kid & I wish I could get on this ride one last time as an adult 😩
We were there in 2016. After my wife got very sick after we rode the Simpsons ride, ET was very good to recover from. But the big highlight for me is the forest at the entrance.
A follow forest ranger pointed out that's me saying, "Watch your step." Yep that's my teal waterbottle! Haha I've been watching your videos for years now I'm working in one.
I remember being on that ride as a kid and the first half of the portion I thought the police animatronic are so real, thought maybe real people played them. And yeah it used to be at the end where ET would say your name. Some high tech stuff at the time
I haven't been on this ride in 3 years thankfully me and my family will be going back August 2025 il be first in line for this ride when we get to universal studios I miss it so much
For such heavily themed ride, it would have been nice if you had walked the entrance queue also, i really liked the woods at the beginning but it was only seen for short time.
Lol, same here because the bike is open and no way to ride without hands and feet outside the bike. In other worlds, there is no inside and outside line on the bike.
Having rode this as a wee lad, I did not remember the total shark-jump that is going to ET's home planet on a bicycle, but nevertheless I am here for it
Such a confusing ending. So you are on E.T's home planet? And you saved it somehow? Also a race that is technologically advanced enough to develop ships capable of interstellar travel but somehow hasn't figured out houses?
Hollywood's version was shut down a while ago, but Florida's probably isn't going to close for a while because Spielberg threatened to make sure Universal can't use any of his movies in the parks if they take out ET, meaning that they would have to take out Jurassic Park (and possibly Jurassic World), the Jaws section of the tram tour in Hollywood, the War of the World plane crash section also at the tram tour in Hollywood, and possibly the Men in Black ride (I'm not exactly sure how involved he was with the film, but he was creative consultant for the ride)
