Not just long flights, they do this on short flights, too. I flew HND to KIX on an ANA 737-800 on a stormy day, and we ended up flying through the thunderstorms. When we came out and landed at Kansai, he smacked the plane down pretty good.

Definition of a good landing is one you walk away from! Narita is legendary for very tough conditions with tons of YT vids to prove. The A380 handled it like a champ it seems! Also I heard turbulence is tricky in that general part of the world. Beautiful vid! Thanks!

It was definitely a very windy approach. The pilots did a good job considering the conditions. Thanks for watching my friend!

As an aircraft mechanic let me explain that a bit. It is possible to land the A 380 very soft without a rumble in the cabin but mostly it rumbles. Why ? If you look closely how all that 22 wheels are slammed on the pavement you know that this job can't be done without a mechanical issue. It rumbles sometimes very hard due to the amount of wheels slamming on the runway at the same time. The fuselage structure in that area gives the vibrations and the noise unfiltered into the cabin. That can get a little uncomfortable in the low cabin but don't worry. It's always completely undangerous and absolutely normal. Besides : You can ask every pilot. They will all say the same. Only a hard landing is a good and safe landing.

It's always easier going west though. I always prefer flying west and forcing myself to stay up longer than flying east and just losing all that daylight in like 3 hours haha.

Great fly! Why the pilot for military jet always wear the mask when flying?
@sla31
@sla31 Год назад
Modern fighter pilots deal with up to 9G, or approximately 2,000 pounds of crushing gravity that makes it almost impossible to draw breath. This is why oxygen masks are essential for military aircraft that do very heavy G load maneuvers.

Hey Skylite. Another great video, thank you. What I love about the A380 is the sound of the flaps being deployed. It sounds so cool! Another thing that fascinates me at 11:52 is how the ailerons , segmented into three separate units, each operates independently of the others. This is the only aircraft where I have seen that. Just wanted to say. Hope you're doing well. Be well my friend.
@sla31
@sla31 Год назад
Glad you enjoyed it my friend. I believe the A330NEO has segmented ailerons too. Although I think it only has two sections instead of three. Fun (potential) fact haha.

It appears that the computer at the last second was forcing the wings down, causing the tires to slam into the runway.

Land it hard! I call that efficiency, no need to go through the cabin and wake up sleeping passengers and stuff, just put it down so hard they bounce their head off the roof. BAM, Awake! Now, thanks for flying ANA, enjoy your time in Tokyo! Also, thats Japan? I expected to see alot more mountains and stuff lol.

Amazing, beautiful approach! It looks like there was a big crosswind on the approach, with some gusts. In most of those cases a firm or hard landing is inevitable. Better to get the bird down on the pavement rather then risk a float or drifting away from the centerline and having to go around, or worse, an even harder landing. Airliners are built to handle that easily. As usual, a flawless work of visual art on your part! I love the A380!

You know Skylite, if you would like to know what the 3 liveries represent on the 3 All Nippon Airways A380s, I can happily explain that to you. The blue livery represents Hawaii's blue sky. The green livery represents Hawaii's' emerald green oceans. And lastly the orange livery represents Hawaii's sunsets.

The back of the wing on the A380 are the best places to sit, these are my recommended ones from my experience as you can hear the loud flaps and landing gear if you are an avgeek you love it. Do you agree with me skylite.

@@scaramonga Well I certainly appreciate you looping it for three hours. But if you're still having a hard time seeing the wind and the hard landing that knocked a filling out of my tooth, then RU-vid must've loaded the wrong video for you. I will report this error immediately so you can see it. 🤣
@sla31
@sla31 Год назад
@@scaramonga In all seriousness, I'm really not sure how you think this was amazingly smooth and normal. The ailerons and flaps were constantly fighting what was a heavy wind that day at Narita. And the landing was easily one of the hardest landings I've ever had, and I've had some pretty hard ones. Including one where the plane had to be taken out of service afterwards. Anyway, if you disagree, you're certainly allowed to do so, but as the person who was on this flight, I can with 100% certainty say that it was both. Thanks for watching.
