This is a fantastic video!! My wife and I just visited the WW&F last week. It's a great little railroad!

It really is. I need to get back up there this winter to catch them in the snow.

Love all of it ...............and one of those rare times when having an anamorphic lens and shooting in 24fps in S-log would have yielded some super cool fun in post. Good audio too by the way (way better then most anything you hear on youtube these days). Outstanding quality overall!

Thanks, I recently got a new mid/side microphone and I've been dialing in my settings for it. This is the first video where I recorded in M/S mode and did the mixing in post which allowed me more control over the stereo width.

Nicely staged and photographed! Kind of reminds me of running the 24" live-steam railroad in the late 1970s at a major amusement park in SoCal.

Really nice, the shots at 3:10 and 10:45 really hit it home. I think the high summer sun is challenging.

Thanks. Those were two of my favorites as well. The sun was definitely challenging but I was impressed with how well the camera handled the extreme dynamic range of a couple of the shots.

@@NorfKhazad Its a great camera! But you have to know how to shoot video too ........ just saying.

@@claytonmoore2091 How to edit for HDR too. I've been playing around with it for 6 months now and this is the first video I'm truly happy with the results on. Managed to get RU-vid to accept a custom HDR->SDR conversion LUT which really improved the results on the SDR conversion.

when the sun comes out at 10:20 👌 this is such a quality video

Thank you. Everyone was wishing it had come out 10 seconds earlier but with as good as the weather was the rest of the day it was hard to complain too much.

Thanks Peter. Check out a couple of my more recent videos, particularly the night shots. I've refined my techniques since then.

Was just wondering why shoot with an external monitor when you can shoot 422 10 bit internally? Thanks.
@NorfKhazad
@NorfKhazad 2 года назад
The Ninja V records 12 bit raw. It gives more latitude for adjustment in post. Also recording raw gets around the camera's internal noise reduction makes post-processing noise reduction more effective. That's only really important for night footage though.

@@NorfKhazad Ah, so you shoot full 12bit all the time! I shoot 10bit and was thinking of uploading in HDR. Maybe I'll get one of those monitors so I can do 12bit. I noticed using davinci resolve exporting to RU-vid causes me to lose a lot of colors. I'm surprised increasing bit depth isn't too pricey with that recorder. I have a Lumix S5 shooting V-log at 10bit. Love the way that the colors look, not too washed out.

@@CullenTabaczynski I found I could preserve the best possible quality by exporting to Prores 4:4:4:4, and RU-vid will accept and process those files, but the problem is my upload speed is too slow for them. A 5 minute video was like 90 gigs. I export to 220 mbps CBR H.265 and that works pretty well. There's a little degradation in quality but not a lot.
@NorfKhazad
@NorfKhazad 2 года назад
@@CullenTabaczynski Also, recording prores raw is very file size intensive. I get about 52 minutes of footage on a 1TB SSD.

@@NorfKhazad Which recorder do you have. Do you have the one that shoots in 6K? The less expensive one only does 10bit.
