NOTE: This ride is actually pretty dark. Our channel specializes in low light videos. Our camera can see more in the dark than what the eyes can see. If we were to film with our smartphone or regular camera, the video will come out dark and unwatchable. Thanks for watching

Thank you for clarifying! I was about to say "Boy this is the opposite of a dark ride" but I guess it makes more sense in the dark. Still, so much empty space! They really need to work on that, a lot of the scenes feel empty and the ride feels slow not because of speed but because of the emptiness of the space! They have great franchises but they're not using them well.

I get that feeling of a lot of these overseas dark rides. Like the static figures wouldn’t even be that bad if it was just more compact and if the vehicle moved a little faster. The empty space makes it feel kinda boring and empty.

It's actually quite dark, which is a trick of older dark rides to give the illusion of walls in pitch darkness. I saw another ride that worked on the same principle on a Discovery Channel documentary about 20 years ago.

One thing would have greatly improved this ride... if the pace of the vehicles would have matched how frantic the music is the poor sets etc would not have mattered as much, and it would have added a bit of thrill zooming in and around other ride vehicles.

It was. They turned it off. They are not allowed to use animatronics cause that's considered playing God in that part of the world. I guess having statues spinning on a turn table was too much for them.

In it's defense, they did a fantastic job with the molding of the characters and detail in set pieces. The orchestrations are also pretty fantastic.

Looks amazing, the trackless cars are great, and the artistry is great. But the ride itself looks soooo boring. Lots of unused space, no storyline, scenes that are static and lifeless, and those flat projection screens that take all the energy out of the animation. They could take some SERIOUS lessons from Disney and Universal when it comes to theme park rides. Hell, even the folks at Knott's Berry Farm could improve this waste of money and space.

The only decent part about this ride is the music and maybe some of the sets are nice to look at. But the rest is a bad haunted mansion knock off. What I really hate is how slow the vehicles move. Even the Disney dark rides don’t move that slow. I also dislike how everything is in our view so nothing is special when we arrive at the scene. The animatronics are static and poorly done and the ride feels empty. You can tell that they went for a haunted mansion vibe. To introduce us to a haunted hotel where not everything is as it seems. But it is poorly executed

There is so much potential in this ride, but it failed. They should’ve invested more money in animatronics. It lacks a storyline (unless you watched the actual movie) to understand who these characters are and what it’s all about. They should’ve seen Tokyo’s Winnie the Pooh ride to get inspiration or Mystic Manor in Hong Kong for inspiration.

Great video. Thanks for the solid camera work. As for the ride. It looks like pretty solid use of the trackless tech, and the sets and backdrops look great. Its just that every place there should or could have been an animatronic of some degree, was just a statue. And while I liked the mirror trick to make the grand hallway look truly grand, it actually just made it clear how big and empty it was. Better blocking might have given us less time to look at the statues. And maybe its just me, but its a big pet peeve when I can clearly hear the audio of a scene play for the next car back. That might just be you guys using a good mic, but I've been on rides where I hear it, and it gets annoying.

Things that need to be done to this ride: 1. Use more of the space in the ride circuit 2. Include some animatronics, not just projections and figures. 3. Slightly less chaotic audio sounds, it sounds terrible when they overlap. 4. Maybe a plot to the ride? Not just a bunch of random stations. 5. Vehicles should move a bit faster. The end

Motiongate always seems to think that making a ride trackless means cutting out the cost of building a track, but then it turns out that trackless vehicles are expensive and they have only a tiny fraction of their budget left for the scenery.

there's no one there...how can they afford to keep the park open? It's not very trackless when you can see the track... also, many of the figures don't move and the holograms are not very good... it's a shame because this had so much potential of being a good ride. It's mostly projected screens and the ceiling isn't even complete - it distracts you and reminds you that this is a ride and not a 'real' castle...more or less this is an incomplete ride.

@@ryanmish4961 Hidden or not, all the vehicles follow the same track to make that impression. A trackless ride is where cars can move in sorta the same path, however will be program with some variance of independence so a rider can get a potential different perspective each time they ride and the potential to fill an area with more ride vehicles than on a single track line. This is a single track ride.

There's a lot of potential, but not enough movement. First, by weaving everyone through the same center isle, you hear the same audio multiple times. Some dividers probably would have helped. Second, it felt like a tour through a wax museum. Some special effects and animatronics would have helped. It looks like some things, like the bellhop in the isle, were supposed to rotate. The one good effect was the elevator near the end. Third, the story doesn't really make sense. It seems like they tried to cram scenes from the first two movies into a single track ride. Instead, they should have made a plot original to the attraction. A simple example would be that the riders are guests checking in to the hotel, and the carts come across some chaos while being led to your room.

I really like those trackless vehicles, and the sound is strong. Come on people, give a little bit of love....there are a couple of good points to this attraction.

MotionGate Dubai loves their trackless rides because they cut corners a lot easier

An Interesting ride. The story is all over the place and the pacing off when comparing the speed of the ride with the music. Trackless ride vehicles is very interesting, but that is about it.

if it had figures moving across the empty chaos area that your cart stops for or narrowly avoids, it could make that cluster of a first section more interesting and feel like a real chaotic hotel lobbey. Otherwise, why are you seeing the carts so much?

I may not live in Dubai but since I have autism I think the ride is cool I mean sure the animatronics are not advanced but it has cool scenery and funny moments from the film and even the villain Quasimodo is present. I like the ride and it deserves to be in Motiongate

Jeez...what a joyless, uninteresting slog. It's like a mini mall filled with motionless props and big screen televisions endlessly playing scenes from the movie.
