Story time: I was going on this ride with my family for like the second time, and we were getting really close to the drop. Eventually we got to the lift hill before the big drop, and the announcement came on that the ride was being stopped. We sat there for a good ten minutes and the logs were piled up. After those ten minutes it started up and we finished the ride. When we got off my mom was curious and asked what happened. The ride operators told us the reason it stopped was because there was a mom and baby ducks in the water of the ride so they had to stop it. 😂
@@jordanmorris4090 splash mountain, tower of terror, space mountain, big thunder mountain, expedition everest, dinosaur, and haunted mansion were all my favorites and classics. Almost forgot about Pirates of the Caribbean!
@@roberthicks1283 which isn't even rac*st when you watch it. It's a beautiful tale of an old free black man becoming the father that a little white boy sorely needed. It makes me mad that so many people have these preconceived notions about a movie most probably have never seen. 😔
Im kind of happy that we were stuck in line, looking back. We actually got time to see the whole structure and every piece of hidden decor. I can almost smell the place and the water when watching these
I love this ride. No matter if I'm mad, sad, or scared, this always makes me happy. Thank you for all the memories. Oh, if you're reading this, have a zip-a-dee-do-dah day!
James Merigo not mad- looking forward to the change, but if you’re going to cry “racism” you need to provide examples instead of parroting other’s talking points.
I'm terrified of heights, so I thank you for this video. It's one of the few ways I can actually experience this ride without my phobia getting in the way.
I have a fear of rollercoasters, but im starting to get over that, im still pretty scared, but im pretty sure splash mountain is just a rollercoaster with water. And i've been on splash mountain.
@@insertnamehere2062 u gotta work urself up, start small and then build up, best way to do it really, you should plot out rides at disney to start with (thunder mountain/test track) then move onto like a slinky dog/space mountain, then do a splash then everest then rockin then tower.
@@Epictimereal I got on velocicoaster not expecting it to be that intense, I didn’t see a pov of the ride before going on, but I’m glad I did. 10/10 coaster.
For the re-theme, they should have Friends on the Other Side playing in the leadup to the end. Then once you start climbing they sing the “are you ready”, and the drop is you entering the voodoo demon leader’s mouth
That’s normal for Disney. The Frozen, Incredicoaster, Gaurdians Of The Galaxy, Winnie The Pooh, Finding Nemo, Star Tours, I could keep going, rides were all rethemes.
Kids coming here will never understand how nostalgic this ride is and just how good it is. I miss this, litterly everything to it and the fox, bunnies, raccoon, songs, Especially laughing place got me good😅 scared and funny at the same time. Just a great ride❤ please come back one day
You should go in the morning when it first opens because the lines are non existent and you could also go during the fire works and the lines will also be non existent :)
Emerson Culley the movie it’s based on is allegedly racist, but the ride itself wasn’t. They filtered out racist aspects of the movie (such as replacing the tar baby with a honey trap)
It was amazing. One of the best rides Disney have ever created, without a doubt. Thankfully, it still exists at Tokyo Disneyland, which many consider to be the best version of the ride.
Fun fact: if you try to splash each other, the speakers will turn on and tell you to keep your hands inside the ride. I learned this when my dad tried to splash me.
When I saw Tiana’s bayou adventure pov video, there’s lots and lots of dislikes of the rethemed ride. It looks like Disney just made a big mistake about retheming ride. It’s up to up to rethemed back splash mountain! Who’s with me????
I agree, the animatronics are just so old that they can’t get new parts for them anymore. It keeps breaking down and it’s just becoming a problem. I wish they’d keep it the same and remodel.
Me and it's a dumb idea hey if u want to save the ride sign the petition to save it and stop this atrocious princess and the frog from GETTING IN DISNEY WORLD OR DISNEYLAND
Coming back to this after the ride POV for tiana's bayou adventure released. It's crazy how much they downgraded it. Another classic Disney ride ruined. I hate to say it too, I really like the princess and the frog, but even so it's super underwhelming. They should have just given Tiana her own ride and updated the Splash Mountain animatronics. You could have both added more capacity and fixed up a ride everyone loves. But no, Bre'r Rabbit is apparently too "controversial" for new audiences, completely stupid.
Bro splash mountain literally has more life to it than Tiana's Boring Adventure. The music and voice acting was also very good too! It was just such an amazing ride.
This is also one of my favorite rides and when I went to Disneyland Paris I was hoping to see splash mountain there but there wasn't which is sad but it is fine :)
Before I watched these types of videos (I’ve never been to Disneyland or World,) I always thought splash mountain was a pretty quick ride, just go up, go around the bend and come down the mountain. It’s so cool how long they are. Definitely seems to makes it worth the wait.
I love how at the start you float by the big drop to see what’s coming 😂😂😂 I adore this ride Splash Mountain will forever be a true classic and one of the best rides, the music makes me so happy❤
I partially blame Defunctland for the removal of this ride, to be honest. He made a video about how the song was originally from a “racist” movie that got hundreds of thousands of views. You know that had to be seen by a lot of the SJWs who were demanding it to be removed.
@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath ah yes, because a dude making a small mention to a movie in his video that is BARELY even about splash mountain should be credited for the re-theming of a ride that has been discussed to be taken down for DECADES.
This is by far the best ride at Disney and it has always been my favorite. Every time I go to Disney I ride this at least 20 times because it is such a fun classic. This should never get re-themed :(
Splash Mountain is so special to me, I have so many nostalgic memories of going there with my parents. My heart hurts over this, thank you for the video!
I feel the same! I am seriously heart broken. Walt Disney would never had allowed this, especially how many people love this ride! Give Tiana her own ride.
This video is pure nostalgia for me too. My dad and I had so much fun on Splash Mountain. I have a picture in my office of my late dad and I at Disney World from that visit. It was peak 90's and even peak life in some ways. Good times.
It’s not the ride that they claim is racist it’s the movie that it’s based off of. The song of the south is a racist movie that Disney doesn’t even claim anymore so why keep a whole ride based on it? The ride isn’t changing and it’ll be great for the kids to ride it and be transported to an ACTUAL Disney movie. I think it’s about time Disney starts revamping areas into themes of their movies. It just makes sense.
@@ginaradicchi4816 i disagree there about hoping Disney starting to revamp more areas into themes for movies. I would rather see Disney come up with more original ideas there hasn't been a original ride in Disney World since Expedition Everest. Original rides like Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and Its a small word made the parks what they are today. Even the majority of the Disney Parks community wish they would stop using IP (intellectual property) as much as they are and make something you can only find in the parks.
When we visited Disney World Florida when I was 7, I was too scared to ride this. My grandparents and I waited while my mum and aunt went and rode - it was the ride they were most excited about. I remember standing at the fence at the bottom of the big drop with my grandad, waiting to see them. It's nice to see this and feel a sense of familiarity, even though our family isn't the same anymore and the ride will be changing.
Here’s a weird fact that’s not related to this comment... Whenever the drop comes on this ride I always stand up for some reason 😂😭 I know nobody cares but yeah 😭😂
JBastiaoOfficial you have been living under a rock. It’s because it’s racist, not because someone said they would kill someone. YOU guys are the reasons why are childhoods are ruined! Cuz snowflakes think it’s better to take down a whole ride while it has nothing but cheerful times. Eat shit man
I use to love this ride, brought me to tears watching this video. But now that it’s gone, I can’t stand it. I hate looking at things that once existed and thinking about what’s to become of it and what was inside.
I'm currently sad at the fact that this golden classic had to close... I'm definitely going to miss this ride.. Been on it when I was 14 (2019), 15 (2020), and 16 (last time: 2021).. May the memories of this icon reside in us Disney fans forever..♥️
@@Kalani_Saiko At least the memories of us Disney fans going on that ride will remain in our hearts for life.. Still made me sad that Splash Mountain closed
I love how everyone complains about Splash Mountain being racist despite not having ANY of the racist elements from the movie, yet they never complain about when Christmas Story makes a joke saying that Chinese people can't sing properly.
I was so used to the kiddie knockoff water-log ride versions of splash mountain that they have at like every amusement park so I thought this ride was the same thing for so long. I was so confused why this ride was so popular until I actually rode it and it was completely different. Almost had a heart attack when there were unexpected drops 😂 100% better than I thought, so fun
This is paying homage to a Disney film called “song of the south” they decided to open this racist ride based on that film. I was today years old when I found that out too. Lucky for me I never rode it on my trip.
@@amandaj0020the movie is based in the reconstruction era, after the civil war and after the abolition of slavery, the black man depicted in the movie is a free worker, not a slave. The movie actually isn’t racist at all, so next time do some more research
@@amandaj0020 how unfortunate for you that you are uneducated on the subject and don't know what you're talking about. Hopefully one day you can do your research before commenting.
Actually, when Disney re-opens next month the ride will still be open with the regular theme, according to an article I read on D23. They're only in the planning stages right now for the re-theming. It's gonna be awhile before they actually start working on it. Me, I can't afford to go to Disney, so the one time I rode this ride as it was was also the last time 😂
I’ve only been on splash mountain once and it held a great memory of going with my brother from the make a wish foundation and it makes me so sad to see it go because the ride made him so happy:(
I'm sorry for the loss of your brother but I'm glad at least you have that good memory with him. It sucks that they're getting rid of it because I rode it when I was nine and I won't forget it. My son is 15 months old now and I was hoping to be able to take him on it when he was older.
@@dorseyfarr6778 Yeah, I mean I’m only 13, but this makes me want to throw myself into the wall, this ride gives me so much nostalgia. And the fact that they are retheming it to stupid “PrInCeSs AnD tHe FrOg”, like who tf besides little kids wants there old favorite ride to become a stupid movie
i’m pretty sure they’re just gonna make it princess and the frog themed i don’t think they’re removing the drop or anything. i saw a model on one of those channels that post disney themed content and it seemed like it was just being redone, but it’s probably gonna have to be closed for a while. :(
I am brazilian. At 2014, i had the luck of going to USA, and consequently, to Disney. I was only 5 yo and Splash Mountain is the only attraction of the entire park i have the pleasure to remember perfectly how was the ride. Im so sad they're going to replace it.
when i was a kid i was afraid of this kind of coasters. i thought if i didnt holded the handle i was going to fly out. when i saw myself on the pictures i looked like i shitted in my pants lol
I never got to experience stuff like this when I was a kid because my parents' favorite word was "no"... If I ever have kids I'll make sure their childhood will be amazing.
@Phylliss I went this spring break (haven't gone in 8 years), and it was pretty fun! This was one of the last rides we rode at Magic Kingdom, and it was pretty cool going down that final drop while seeing the castle all lit up (it was nighttime and the park was about to close for the day).
Oddly enough these pov type videos have helped me lower my fear of roller coasters. It's still there, but some of my fears seem a lot more misplaced for the smaller ones. Still need to work myself up to the real ones they have at six flags and such, but hopefully someday.
That fact that I love Tiana’s nothing can beat it to splash Mountain cuz I used to love that ride when I was a kid farewell splash we will never forget you😢😢😢😞 Rip splash Mountain 1992-2023
I really have mixed opinions about the re-themeing. On one hand the Princess and the Frog ride looks really cool and promising. And I love Tiana. But on the out her hand this a a classic and has no racist elements whatsoever. I’m still gonna miss it a lot, but a Princess and the Frog ride would still be cool
Story time: Last year, me and my family went on this ride and right before the second lift, the ride stopped and we were all stuck on the ride for more than an hour, while me and my sister had to pee sitting staring at a waterfall. Eventually we were all evacuated from the ride and the park was closing. My family got free replacement tickets for the next day and a free fast pass for this ride. Making memories for sure😂
Here's a little bit of advice: If you're on a full boat, you're definitely gonna get soaked. I learned this on my May 2017 trip to Disneyland. I remember riding all the way in front as well, which meant I got the most soaked, and what didn't help is not only was it cold outside, but I also kept going on it several times. Another piece of advice: Don't be surprised if someone stupid decides to stand up on the ride. I remember waiting (I think) 2 hours before I finally got to the ride. This was during my May 2018 trip to Disneyland.
Ditto, I loved this ride. The music the characters of the ride, the story, the ups and drops of the log ride itself..I still can't believe they are changing it to some lame new idea..
Best ride please Disney don’t take it down. The memories growing up riding this ride means the world to me. My family…that I rode this ride with has passed away. The worsted passing is my little brother. I’m taking his kids to Disney, it was his dream to take his kids there. They r looking forward to this ride. Happy ride and memories that they need and want of there daddy riding this ride. This ride is one of Walt Disney’s creations. It’s a icon of his dream. This ride shows shows love, survival, and strength. I love the movie the frog and princess but build it somewhere else on Disney property. Don’t take down this ride please. It’s a Disney icon
So we our leaving for our trip, that we planned over a year ago. My grand babies nieces and nephews and my kids r heart broke that they can’t ride this ride. I look at the amount of people that r against doing this and I don’t understand how this can happen. And why we the people r being ignored. The people r speaking. It’s the 50th anniversary, why would u do this now. Build the new ride that’s great but don’t take this ride down. And on the 50th REALLY.
My Favorite Ride in Magic Kingdom. I’m so sad to see it go. But Who knows how good The Princess and the Frog Ride Is. And If Dr Facilier isn’t in the ride. Im starting a petition to bring it back.
Ugh god splash mountain and tower of terror are my fav rides if they change tower of terror in Orlando I will be so sad. I don’t think they will though as the park it’s in is called Hollywood studios.
Who else watches these videos and holds on to something as if it where the bar in front of you on the ride that your watching and pretend your at Disney? No one? Just me? Ok...
Amanda Phillipson Nobody rides it for Song of the South. It’s just for the fun characters and old southern theme that makes it nostalgic and fun for those of us who have ridden it many times.
The last time I rode this ride it slammed stop right at the end of the drop. We got walked through the final scene. Idk if I should go back and finish it one more time or let the universe tell me it’s over. I’m glad we have videos like this because it will never die. To be honest the lack of maintenance since they announced the retheme is shameful anyway.
Funny story my mom forced me onto this ride when I was 7 and deathly afraid of roller coasters and drops of any kind. I have had horrible anxiety about it ever since even though I love Pirates of the Caribbean, Matterhorn, etc. These videos are the only way I can enjoy this one even now 😂. Thanks mom. Here’s hoping I actually nut up and ride it again someday.
Don't feel bad; when my wife and I went, for late honeymoon, I chickened out of Thunder Mountain railroad. Looking at the videos, i have told myself that, if we have a next time, I will give it a go. But rollercoaster nerves are a difficult nut to crack.
@@evaskiess have you actually watched song of the south? It gets a bit close to the line at some points but it really is not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. There are way worse movies out there.
People are making a massive mistake. They are removing one of the last animatronic extravaganzas in existence. Much like Pirates or Haunted Mansion, once its 120 animatronics are gone they will be replaced with projection and never return in such a grand fashion. It is exactly this expense that they have chosen to remove Splash Mountain, none of the fake reasons they have given to fool the public, it is purely to cut costs.
This pisses me off! I can’t believe they are getting rid of one of the best rides at Disney! I cried when this was changing. It makes me sad that there will never be any cast members saying have a zip a dee do dah day. This was my childhood and it has been a part of my heart forever and it will stay their forever.
Gabby DAwson Simple, since 1960's Disney wanted to erase all footage of Song of South, Splash Mountain was the last thing that remained of that movie, and with all the situation that happened in USA since last month they wanted to changed it, Song of the South is the most racist cartoon that Disney ever made
@@jbruce2 What they claim is "racist" is that the black people in the movie seem happy. Their belief is that all slaves were miserable and abused, because thats largely what current media (propaganda) claimed. The fact is most slaves in the south were not mistreated at all, it was just like different economic classes (caste system) which we see all over the world today, and thats what the film portrayed. The fact is the slaves in the south were living better lives than those in Africa, and the US literally went out of its way to create a new nation for them called Liberia, which itself is modeled after the US constitutional republic. In fact, the Irish "slaves" were treated far worse over all. But they won't tell you that... they just want this narrative of southern slaves being in literal hell, and the European man is the devil. Thats the propaganda they want to push.
@@coastercraziness well if u sign the petition it might be saved and Disney didn't even say the ride will be closed maybe it's a plan for a new water ride
DiamondLife83 if you don’t want to ride it then just don’t ride it and if you don’t like the new theme, that’s fine, but you ranting about how much you hate it isn’t going to change Disney’s mind.
DiamondLife83 so when the renovations are over, are you going to continue riding it, because the physical ride will be the same just a different theme.
