I've always loved Splash Mountain I think I was about 8 or 9 years old when I first went on it.

I got my 1st annual pass when I was 6, but I was always to scared to ride it. 2 years later my mom tricked me into believing that I would be brave enough to ride it when I was 8, and that placebo effect worked bc I absolutely loved the ride especially when I got to the finale. This ride, and the SotS characters, helped me get over my fears of drops and I will always hold them dear to my heart.

@@screwmysisterleon how did she trick you lol? Please tell me she didn’t do that thing some parents do where they don’t tell the kid what ride they’re in line for. I heard a story from another person one time where their parents put them in line for a ride and told them they were just in line for the teacups, but then when they got to the front, SURPRISE SURPRISE, they were in line for Thunder Mountain Railroad. Basically they knew the kid was scared of roller coasters so they tricked them into getting in line for one so that they wouldn’t realize until it was already too late

Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, The Tar Baby, and even the storylines in the ride LITERALLY COME FROM THE FABLES OF ENSLAVED AFRICAN AMERICANS and the film its based on "Song of The South" (which features Uncle Remus, a happy-go-lucky destitute ex-slave bopping-about singing ZipADiDooDah in apartheid/Jim Crow-era U.S. South with an idyllic master/slave dichotomy while blacks in the film SERVE whites robotically and with no emotion whatsoever and accept their "inferior station" in life with no fight whatsoever) has been vaulted and commercially unavailable for over 30 years and is long out-of-print and banned just like Ado!f H!tler's M3in K*mpf was in Germany. That's the same reaction when I first one went on this ride is was so scared I cried for 7 seconds when I was on the big drop part and after and I was 10! The only thing I like about this ride is the brer fox Shadow it was so cool I wanted to be on that part of the scene.

@@crascoe159 Disney first announced the re-theming back in June of 2020. As far as I know, the re-theming hasn’t been cancelled yet, but I imagine that they haven’t done it yet because Disney had to close their parks for a year due to the pandemic, which hurt them financially. My guess is that once the pandemic ends and the Disney Parks stabilize, then they will focus their attention on Splash Mountain.

Even so, how many times had this really affected a person's life? If we are talking accents, I'm sorry but everyone has heard their kind of voice made fun of- Hispanics, Asian, even White Country people- and to be fair I both laugh an cringe at hispanic accents, being one, and enjoy those of country folk and eastern city accent. It adds character in my opinion! If it has hurt you, grow some tougher skin please, it's an old movie that has little to no play in this day and age's pop culture other than being a log ride. I'm sure many get on this ride without even knowing it or even understanding it even without the movie. I'm sure no child will even know this movie in the very near future being to caught up in movies now, just like the "practically perfect in every way," original Mary Poppins was forgotten. I sure as heck don't understand most of what is being said in the Splash Mountain ride itself, so how would they know without seeing the official story? It's a part of history, anyways. It should rather be considered a constant reminder of what not to do, again. If in this case this ride is demolished, demolish other great books like such as well- To Kill a Mocking Bird, and many of Maya Angelou's stories- just because we ignore its initial purpose and reminders and focus on it being "racist." I let you know, once again, that accent plays role in history and character because even story character dialogue is written in ways to reflect southern or eastern, western, or whatever sort of dialect. I'm sure you're one of those, anyways, taking away stories who shaped and changed the way young and old adults see the world just because of the era its written. Sometimes classics are good reminders, and sometimes they can just be fun and silly after the time has come that its forgotten, much like Splash. Many remember it for the fun they had, the fears they've conquered, and the congratulations and pride silly robot animals gifted them at the end, not "racism." But who is a random stranger on the internet to have a say in this? I do encourage you to sit on it a bit though, Hun. Just think. Maybe recall 9th grade literature and history a bit. Just... Think.

@@sparkthehorsegirl I HAVE seen the film "Song of the South" in it's entirety inside an actual movie theater. This showing was at a re-release of the film back in early 1986 and no one had any problems with it being shown in theaters! There were no disclaimers about racism or anything like that, why, because there was no racism at all in the film. Most people today have never even seen an entire screening unless they have already seen it online somewhere, and those who haven't seen it will look at Uncle Remus and start making false accusations about the film without taking the time to watch it from start to finish. If the movie wasn't banned people would agree it wasn't a racist film. Now that the ride is being changed, it won't be as good in my opinion, just tear it down and do something else with it.

Disney has effectively shot itself on the foot by ceding and pleasing a group of violent complainers, most of which have never set foot in a Disney park. If we were gonna redo everything that's based on a racist story than most of Disneyland would have to change. Obviously I will still be able to ride a ride that drenches me after a 50 foot drop, but I'm gonna miss splash mountain and the songs and characters that the ride currently offers... Lol

Not sure what else you could be referring to that had a deliberately racist background that Disneyland has. You’ll still be going down a 55 ft flume and get soaking wet along to music and animatronics don’t worry.

@@shikadragon have you even seen the movie? The only thing bad is that it is based off stereotypes. There was a racist script that was never even used. That's the only racist thing. But people THINK that's the movie. It was made in the 1940's, for that time it treats black people nicely. And it was the first movie that made a black man win an Oscar.
