I was born in DR, grew up in NYC. I visit DR almost yearly but I actually want to have the experience of living in DR for a while. Remember, visiting a country for a couple of weeks and actually living there for an extended period of time is a totally different ball game.
@PurelyWalking
@PurelyWalking Год назад
I agree. I think so many of those who answered YES have no idea what its like to live through some BRUTAL Canadian winters. You can live quite comfortably here in D.R., specially in Santo Domingo, Santiago or Punta Cana.

That’s what many people don’t understand. We are out of our country simply because of the opportunities, the dollar is multiplied in our Dominican pesos… that’s why Dominicans also go to PR! It’s the money, nothing else. Which is also the reason why many tourists choose DR cause they can get the most for their money plus our awesome tourism of course. We come to the States to work to get the most out of our money too and then buy properties in DR. Our country has it all, but we simply can do more in our country when the money is doubled or tripled. 🙃 So yes, we love our country… 🇩🇴🏝️

I’ve been living in Boston, Ma for 40 years. I miss my island of D.R. For those who wished to leave the D.R I understand why but the stress and pain that comes with earning a livable living is just as bad as for those who live in the D.R wishing for a better life. Yes, you get a little more of an economic boost or cushion but the freedom you have in D.R can’t compare to that of the USA. Sorry to say. You may ask why not go back to the D.R understand that when I say 40 years in the USA that means I came when I was 7 or 8 years of age. So now that I’ve been raised here and made my family here it’s hard to leave. Trust and believe me that that doesn’t mean I don’t want to leave and when I retire I will most likely move back now that my kids are adults. Im going in august and I go every year to see family and enjoy the beauty of my country Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 ❤️ 💪 love you D.R and my people

I understand you completely!! I have plenty of family members that said their entire lives they were just gonna work in the USA and retire in the DR....they retired and they never moved to DR because their children and grandchildren were all in the USA. This is bittersweet, and it happens all the time

What some Dominicans don't know is that, If they go to Canada, Europe or USA, They will have to start from zero and work hard to go back and build something in DR, it's no easy to.start business in those countries when you don't know the language. Some Dominicans never try to do a business in DR, but yet they criticize the country for lack of opportunities, I see a lot of Venezuelans making business in DR, but some Dominicans are sick with mentality of viajero, *Traveler*.

This might be a reverse answer to this question your posing, but if I were to go back to the Dominican Republic for any reason I would. Main reason is because it seems more, natural to me. Here in the United States, there are a lot of opportunity for me to have to get a career, to get a job, to get something that people in countries like these, could get in other places outside of where they live. The opportunity I’m seeing from where I’m from, from where I originate, can tend to be too much and it can be overwhelming, which is why I tend to do my research on what it is I need and don’t need in the end of the day. There’s a lot going on in the United States, but if anything, if something were to happen, I would go back if I could.
