@@diannefromuk697 The government should require large shops that currently have a 6 hour maximum trading limit on Sundays because there are less international tourists and people have less money to spend because the cost of living has gone up. By closing on Sundays you get more people to go out on different days. Banning Sunday trading for large shops would reduce overheads for businesses and attract more people to town centres, shopping centres city centres etc on weekdays and especially on Saturdays. The government should tell businesses what to do because businesses don't always make the right decisions and some of these businesses go into administration, this cost jobs and costs the UK economy. Small shops would be unaffected and all shops would be unaffected between Monday and Saturday. Under my proposal large shops would still be able to freely between Monday and Saturdays including bank and public holidays such as Boxing Day or New year's Day but excluding Christmas Day. My proposal requires large shops to close on all Sundays throughout the year and on Christmas Day whatever day of the week it falls on. I think Sunday trading was good pre Brexit, pre cost of living pre covid because there were more international tourists and people had more money to spend and my idea is if you close the large shop on Sundays you attract more people out to shopping centres, city centres, town centres, high streets, retail parks etc on the days of the week especially on Saturday. There are less international tourists here now and people will have less money to spend so my idea is to get more people to go out on other days of the week. This has nothing to do with religion, workers rights or family life. Extended Sunday trading would have been good before but not now. Also under my proposal small shops would still be able to open and trade whenever they want because they have less overheads and they provide convenience to people. I also urge you to write to your MP why Sunday trading should be banned and withdrawn.
Looks as good today as it did back in 1979 when it first opened, great design coupled with natural light which has stood the test of time. Thank goodness the building has been listed.
Same. I have fond memories of being a kid there and playing around that fountain, and in the summer sun people would usually end up in there. Same with the fountain at Campbell Park, both now gone.
A great tour that boats the environment well of our massive shopping cathedral. Such shy shoppers not wanting to be recognised on camera by hiding their faces too.

Used to be a shopping centre but not it's just mostly food outlets. Most people in don't even bother visiting Centre MK anymore. Seems most people who visit are from outside of MK.

I love it when people call Midsummer Place 'the new bit' - it's almost 21! My mum still does it, even when I remind her that, by rights, that makes ME 'new' 😆
@@sentienttapioca5409 lol yeah, i htink its because anyone that remembers before it was built, actually preffered it that way. now they cut the road off from going straight down to the station and more importantly, they blocked the view from top to bottom and visa versa. they could have easily just made a bridge or under path to cross the road, but nope, they block the road. destroying a majour part of how mk works. arrg, im going off on one now. lol
@@drtydawg73 The worst thing was the destruction and death they caused to an ancient Oak Tree... Still no one held responsible.. Disgusted (At the killing of the Oak)
Centre MK I believe to be the worlds best shopping centre. If there is a better shopping building than this, I've yet to go there. Lakeside, Meadowhall, Metro Centre are not even close to this place. Even big malls in Florida not as good as this. It's sad to see all the sheep wearing masks though.
It's sad to see someone still denying that masks work to keep the vast majority safe and well. That aside, the architecture and overall ambiance of CMK are pretty special.

Yeah... Best to avoid the estates around the centre, unless you fancy your chances. Just a heads-up for any potential visitors. (Edit: Lakes estate isn't too central, but still a bit iffy.)
