I've probably watched a half dozen videos about this or this vs LE, 6Plus and the Osmo Action. What I've learned so far is that while the image quality and stabilization on the B7 is superior to the LW or 6Plus it's substandard to the OA. I was excited and thought I was about to order the latter but apparently they are now $300 and not $195 as mentioned in reviews from last year. Additionally, reviewers claim that the latest firmware updates actually made the thing worse than before. So here I am back at the Brave 7 which is still 40 bucks less than a GP Hero7 which doesn't have a front facing screen. Now if only the microphone didn't suck so bad... Hopefully it will work to my advantage since I make videos with background music that I have to turn down really low when using my webcam.
I bought the Brave 7, returned it and bought another one. Returned that one as well. Why? I just could not get past that horrible, HORRIBLY BAD audio quality. I was hoping the first one was just a fluke. I really wanted to like this camera. The image quality was great for what I use the camera for. I also liked the build quality. I honestly thought it was a solid feeling camera. The remote worked great, too. Sadly I had to tell the Akaso brand to kick rocks. I just can't believe they went completely backwards with the audio quality.
❤️😊🙏✌️✋ Extra Good job🤝😘👍 Wow. Great view, I love to see new places 👍❤️ Great movie 👍👋 Bravo 👋 And I have a new movie from a walk around the city 😊 Yours sincerely, DJ Janusz from Warsaw Poland 🇵🇱😘🎶🎵🙏✋
Hey Tom! In fact it's the country right next to Greece - Bulgaria. There are some scenes with Black sea. We're also heading towards Greece in about a month from now. 😎
Very good review, extremely informative. I'm looking to get a new camera for scuba diving as my Best Divers Becam recently flooded and I received £105 from my insurers so am not looking to spend more than £120 or so on a camera that I won't use all that often. What is the "diving mode" on this camera like? What action cameras for diving would you recommend at this price?
Hey, thanks for the comment and the good question. For diving - I'd look for an action camera with good low light performance. This one is not that great about low light. You may check SJCAM SJ8 Pro, or some of the older ThiEye T5 Edge cameras. Or Akaso V50 Pro.
I don't even get 40 minutes of battery on my GoPro hero 9 black on 4K, I've used Akaso for a long time and I'm going to say you probably got a bad camera because mine always done much better than that and absolutely zero problems with the 1080p setting.
if you live in europe its impossibel to get spare parts like Battery or any other part. You can only buy the complete Kit with cam. Good cam but with a uncontrol touch on the screen the menue can change and a Video is complete waste because no Video or no sound ! Never use it in your hands without the case !I like on the Brave 7 its waterproof without extra case! I have with other cams the "Fog" problem! This cam never get foged! Cold in the morning splash the cam no fog problem.I like also the picture in Video mode ! If you have suddenly any menue problem no sound or no video i go back to the works reset and the day is saved!
I have a problem with this camera. The whites like sky or light colort shirts are to bright, its like they lighter the color it almost has like a glow sorounding the lighter colors.
Hoping you can help me out. I'm looking to purchase the akaso brave 7 (version 2). And have some questions. 1. Do you know of a head mount strap for it? I see ones for the brave 7 LE but apparently those don't work for the normal 7 (no idea why). I absolutely cannot find anyone selling one that works with the brave 7... makes no sense! 2. Does it have Bluetooth and if so, would that allow me to be able to mount the brave 7 say on my head mount strap (if I can locate one) and connect the brave 7 to bluetooth to my cellphone and be able to see LIVE video of exactly what the camera is being able to see? I'd want that so when on my head that I can ensure it's capturing what I am wanting it to capture. Thanks very much
You better buy a good quality head strap for an action camera. As for the connection - it has WiFi and you can connect it to the smartphone app and adjust the angle.
Hi thanks for the video. You mentioned Osmo Action is price at $199 but I could not find this to be true. Please let me know where I can find Osmo Action for $199. Thanks
I paid 50 euro for it 1 month ago. Probably a mistake by the seller on Ebay but still wouldnt want to pay more. Previously had a Dragon Touch, fantastic camera for the money but got water damaged (case flipped open during surfing).
Oh, seems you are not at your home town but on a vacation. hope things are getting better on your side. We also went for a short vacation inside our country and arrived back just in time when a new crisis started here :-( And yes I'm watching late again, had some big project at work so I watched less videos lately. But enough of that! this camera at first I though is the DJI osmo action camera, looks similar quality looks good, Akaso is getting better and I'm happy about it! we do need a new competition in that area to push the big guys to innovate more!
Wow, you can notice so many details! True that - a big part of the footage is shot in a small town on the Black sea. Man, I really hope you are fine and are away from any of these happenings. I just can't comprehend why there's so much rage with some people... COol to hear about your project! Was it youtube related, or something else? I hope to finally see a high-end model by Akaso. But not yet... 😞
@@TechMishka That's not many details, I just know that you don't live in a city close to the sea :-) Thankfully "this" thing is somewhat over (till next time sadly) I live pretty far but not far enough that I would be out of their "zone" not a fun experience every random time run to a shelter and wait till you here the "fireworks" The project was at work, in short migrating one companies AD domain into another. Seems like Akaso is getting closer, I actually hope they do take that rode, maybe they will change the market
2 problems with this... When turn upside down the view is corrected but still records upside down!! When the casing is on, the side compartment to the USB will not open therefore you can not use driving mode or connect an external power bank!! I believe the 7le has an option in the menu to correct the upside down view.
I've got Brave 7 and Brave 4. Brave 4 140 degrees field of view is wider than Brave 7 "170" and that's with stabilisation and distortion correction off. If you use stabilisation or distorsion correction the Brave 7 is nowhere near 170 degree. Looks like they swtched to the smaller, cheaper sensor or poorly designed optics. For what I record FOV matters.
The FOV measurements with these action cameras can be very weird. Most of them are advertised as 170-degree, but in reality they are around 120-130 degrees.
@@TechMishka Oh well I use Gopros free stuff.I can't abide having to pay for editing software for the product that I BOUGHT.With MY money.I have Yi lite.Good camera, but no free editor?Nope.
Hi Michael, so I'm going Maldives in April, possibly swimming with sharks, I would love to capture this moment with action camera. Iv hit a wall i can't make my mind up and not many do underwater reviews of picture quality. I'm not wanting to spend a fortune thinking under £200, but really wanting to capture the moment. Thanks in advance. Laura
Honestly - for Brave 7 I wouldn't really bother getting filters. If there's no shutter speed control on the camera investment in filters is close to being pointless. There are two kinds of filters for DJI Osmo, so make sure to get these with thread mount.
Thanks for all your action camera reviews! I've been checking out so many cameras, my head is in a spin! In the end, I've gone for a multiple camera setup, with an Akaso V50X and some Campark V30's. Though I can see cameras like the SJ8 Pro and FireFly 8SE give a worthwhile step up in image quality - finer and crisper detail that is more immediately understood by the eye - I think the cheap ones arguably are better bang for buck. They are good enough for my needs. I did consider the Brave 7 but for me the image quality improvements look marginal over the V50X and not worth the extra. I hope we'll see bigger sensors used in the cheap budget cameras in the next few years and hope to need your reviews again when it's time to upgrade! PS I did try an (older I presume) Apeman A100 with a Panasonic 1/2.3 sensor but it failed to record at 30FPS consistently and ruined a few days of footage before I noticed the problem. It would skip dozens of consecutive frames here and there, giving me no decent length of continuous footage. From my tests it looks like the problem was related to the A100 overheating on warm days (it would e.g. do the 30FPS no problem in the cooler evenings). I tried things like different (very fast) micro SD cards and formatting on a computer, nothing fixed it. The V50X just worked.
Hm - maybe the Apeman had frame rate issues - some cameras record in variable fps if the chipset is not good enough or if there are firmware issues. The V50X is great if you don't need 60fps options. So - enjoy it for as long as it is the right fit for you! :)
@@TechMishka Thanks for taking the time to reply! Thanks for the ideas re: the Apeman. I'm returning a Campark V30 now as it didn't match the specification on the product page when I bought it. The one I got does not do 2K at 60FPS (it only offers 30FPS), and also, it does not do 1080P at 90FPS - it only offers 30 or 60FPS in the menu. I was looking forward to using the 1080P 90FPS, and 2K 60FPS as well, so this is going back. I've decided to replace it with a DJI Omso Action, which I'll use as my main camera and use the other cameras for other angles, more dangerous work (!) etc. I hope it will work well for me to have spent more on the main camera than the supporting cameras. I'm very happy with the V50X but hope the Osmo Action will spoil me even more! I was a bit wary to buy an Osmo Action now in case a new, better version is out soon but the price was not too bad (£200) and I think it's maybe better value for me in the long-run than something like the SJ8 Pro (£199 on Amazon and looks to me to be not quite as good as the Osmo) and SJ10.
@@TechMishka Sir, i own Brave7LE but cant take good videos like these, no matter how bright daylight it is...can you advice your settings and more? thanks!
Thank you for this review. I lost my brave 4, I liked it enough to get the Brave 7 and it's 1/3 the price of GP hero 9. For those who don't want to use the housing that would include me. Your standard smartphone clamp mount works on the Brave 7 for tripod and selfie stick use. And for the life of me I could not figure how to switch to the front screen until I saw you do it on the video.
Good I chose the SJCam SJ10 Pro for my first action cam. Really enjoying it. By the way, I got it because of your video. Thanks for the push! More power with your channel! Please keep creating great videos! 😃👍
