Thanks Eddie. I think this is the whole point of making reviews. We can see bunch of ads from these companies anyway, but the point is to get to see how these devices work in real life scenarios.
Thanks for this. I have v50 pro and v 50x and they have their strengths and weaknesses. This seems worse than either. That said, I do like the models I mentioned the most for time lapse and an extra b-footage camera or a camera you want to beat up the most. Creative shots where you don;t care about the survival of the camera over the quality of the footage. Akaso cameras are great to add to your main camera as extra angles on your activities.
Wow I'm excited to to buy AKASO BRAVE 4pro actually we have an order in Lazada I think dis week he arrive thank you for your blog we an idea for this camera..
@@TechMishka Thanks for the reply. I agree, kinda reminds me of the Campark X40 that I reviewed. Very similar. Hopefully they will release something a little better in the near future.
Was excited to see a new camera emerging from Akaso, but given it's performance they shouldn't have bothered imo. IQ isn't great and EIS seems to be a couple of steps back from a camera like the Brave 6 Plus (and indeed the V50X). Btw: as Akaso always seems to struggle with sound, how was the sound on the Brave 4 Pro?
Just got one to use mainly for kayaking and snorkeling. Haven't tested it in the real world yet, but from a quick look at home, the video looks decent at 1080/60. I have an old GoPro 4, but I wanted image stabilization, so decided to try the Brave 4. Still image quality looks OK, but when viewed at 100%, there is a lot of noise. For the price paid, it seems reasonable. It's a lot lighter than my GP 4, so that's a nice.
@@TechMishka I ended up returning it. After shooting some outdoor vids, the quality wasn't that great. For the low price, it's not too bad, but I ended up getting an Osmo Action 4. Still, for a budget cam, the Akaso isn't bad.
i got the hero 8(235$) and picture quality disapointed from fire fly camara at 90- 105$ it was similar or slitly better.. brands youtubers get paid for
@@TechMishka not you but mostly, youtubers their opion as the high quality is hero 10 or wich might be true but they forget, i wish apple, sony or samsung lunch a competetuive brand
I bought mine before looking at this video but I will make due because I am actually looking to make vintage style videos and the poor quality actually may help with that lol but I will of course grab something better in the future
I bought this for my 7y.o. It's fine for that, especially since you can pick these cameras up for CHEAP. It has its protective case, and basic mounts. She can use it in the yard, at the pool, on her bike, etc. Don't really care about 4K or superb IQ, since my 7y.o. will really only view videos on the camera, itself. Perfect way to test out an interest, before investing in a premium brand's device.
Oh please, I don’t even think the visuals are initially that bad, I just used it a little too much while swimming for my now scrapped Swimming Series, which makes the water run in the way of the lens even with the case on. Outside of that realm it’s remarkable for a starting “personal” camera as opposed to a RU-vidrs’ camera I am contemplating on for the future. Contrary though, I hate that it’s possible its case prevented it from having good audio output, but maybe that was always a possibility. I don’t know what happened. Was it the case? Was it my choice of camera? Does the budget make it look like a mundane, profusely undesired product? I’m just starting to use it again, and it’s safe to say that while the visuals are passable, the auditory aspect is… not all there. 7/10 and that’s me being sincere.
As always an excellent and thorough review @tech4all. I currently use an aging (and now faulty) Thieye E7 which has served me extremely well, but the USB connector is no longer working so am looking for a new sub $150 camera. Do you have a current recommendation? Currently it looks like the best is an Akaso V50X, but that's over 2 years old now?
Dave, very unfortunately action cameras are no longer as exciting as they used to be... Better try to bring your camera to a smartphone repair shop - they may be able to recover the USB port. Or - if you can somewhere buy spare batteries? The e& should use such that other models may use too.
@@TechMishka Batteries are a bit of a pain - they're a different size to almost all others (I think there's one Akaso that has the same size). I got a deal on Amazon, 25% off a Surfola SF530 so I've taken a punt on that - seems to be as good as my Apeman Trawo A100, and with a 1350MaH battery (it only came with 1050Mah ones, but ones from my A100 fit) I get 90 minutes in 4K with EIS enabled.
@@TechMishka yeah the v50 is still one of my back up camera together with the Hawkeye firefly 8se. 2 great cams considering the period they came out and still can do its job when needed.
Hi could u do a comparison review between Akaso Brave 4 Pro with Campark X40..they seem to have the same look/design & price range..thank u in advance 😃
Hey, thanks for the comment. I probably won't review the X40, since they have issues with Amazon, which is to me red flag. They likely share the same hardware, so not much of difference.
Excellent review; thank you. I need an "occasional dashcam" and was thinking of this. I want one ONLY for my twice yearly, 2 day drives to and from Florida- Pennsylvania. My car is NOT dashcam friendly; only 1 power port tucked at the bottom of my center console. So I would like a simple cam, internal battery powered, but external battery capable as well. I dont want Parking Mode, etc. All I want is the 10 minutes before and after an accident or incident. With Driver Mode (looping), this might work. You mentioned something very important, i.e. it has no mounting screw on the naked body. I wouldn't want to use the water housing because of overheating. BUT from your video, it looks like you can mount it (to a tripod or dashboard mount) using the underwater housing without the front part? Can you confirm that?
Thieye T5e to T5 Pro the colour difference was shocking. T5 Pro was washed out and just weird. Great touchscreen menu UI but that was about it. Still use an early "non microphone" T5/T5e as the colour is excellent. Did a test panning from into bright afternoon sun setting to a shaded yellow building frontage expecting a bad fail and it was amazing. Seems the more they try to upgrade the worse they get? Yes I still have an SJCAM SJ4000 early (non logo version) and it still works. 😆 🇦🇺
So definitely which can be the best option for snorkelling under the sea? I'd need the double screen... not over abt 150USD/EURO.... So excluding the GOPRO, DJI etc...
You can buy a second hand DJI Action 1. Other than that - look for some of the cameras based on iCatch v50 - the chipset used to produce some really good videos underwater.
Hey, I am really struggling…what camera would you suggest that is around or below 100€. I just need it for some good pics during snorkeling. Nothing professional, but some good holiday memories. Thanks in advance!
So im wondering if i should get this? I only want it for when i go walking at a park to have as a saftey measure or use it on my car basically thats it. Do you reccomend for this? Does it have good audio also hownlong does it record before it stops i have heard some only do 20 min or do your reccomend one thats inexpenisve only really need it for that. Thanks ☺️
Which one should I buy for the same price o can buy brave 4pro, v50pro, and ek7000pro, or sj9 strike need it for underwater movis holiday in egyp . Thanks
Hey Mihail, thanks for the hones review. I habe a question about the akaso. I cant Change the angle settings in Video Mode. The settings are greyed out und cant be clicked. When i change to photo, i am able to Change the angle. I bought the camera for the Wide angle Videos. Are you able to help me ?
I haven't seen any videos on this connecting to the app to control it the app on a phone or notepad. Does anyone know where I can find the info? Update 2/18/23: I finally figured it out after much frustration. I might just put a video out there for others. So they don't have to go through the painful process .
I was thinking of the V50 pro, based on all the reviews but you mentioned that these late models could be worse that the older V50 pro? How does one know?
Well - hard to say... Best way is to try out. If quality is good enough for you - then keep it. I think one of the best deals right now is to buy Dji Osmo Action generation 1. Even second-hand devices are good.
@@TechMishka I been looking to buy an Akaso for a really long time now. It's been very disheartening to hear year after year, model after model, that Akaso just can't seem to get it together. So I turn my thoughts to perhaps getting a GoPro, but only to hear they have overheating issues... It's like, man, can these companies not get it together??? It's hard to get in the action when the action camera manufacturers don't seem to be taking any action on getting their products up to par, especially GoPro. Spending almost $500 for a camera that overheats and shuts down is just a deal killer for me. I just need a camera that has great stabilization, great color and great sound and won't shut down on me. Need one for bicycle touring. ANY suggestions?
was looking at all types up to £400. they all have problems go pro .overheating . shutting down hard to connect to older phones, im sticking to my pro dslr . its heavy but does everything awesomely ,even 1080p on my nikon is better than 4k on so called pro versions of action cams .and 4k is unreal on a large 47mp dslr . unprocessed . it shows how many times the tiny tiny sensors are upscaled to reach their 20mp goal , which are really about 7mp tops
Hey Edgar, very good point! Yeah, I have it on the schedule and use the camera occasionally. Just want to give it a little more time and the shinier part of the year to finally kick in.
Gotta be VERY distrustful with the case for this camera which claims to be waterproof, but may fail on you while underwater and let water inside, shorting out your camera. Be warned.
👍✋Extra Good job 👏👌🤝 Wow, Great view, I love to see new places 👍✌️ Great movie 👍 Bravo 👋 And I have a new movie from a walk around the city 😊 Yours sincerely, DJ Janusz from Warsaw Poland ✌️ 🇵🇱✋
Thanks for the comment, HJ; Although Akaso promose 20MP photos, the actual maximum of the image sensor is only 12MP. Anything higher than that is software interpolation and is waste of space. As for the storage - pretty sure you can make a 128GB card work well. Not sure about the optics - I doubt it's Sony-made.
Well, akaso brave 4: 200.00 USD. GoPro 9: 400.00 USD. Minimum salary in my country: 210.00 USD. That's why there are people buying cheap things... too much taxes, low salaries.
My hell, what do you want from a cheap camera? If you want professional quality, go spend $500. This is a camera that will do the job. If you lose it or break it, who cares. I lose a GoPro and I'm livid. I lose this, who cares.
Don’t buy this junk! I bought akaso last year , I had video but no audio. Called customer service and got no help. I went back and bought GoPro and very satisfied
