Sayram Lake is one of Xinjiang’s famous scenic destinations. The lake sits against snow-covered mountains and is surrounded by vast grassland. Every year in June and July, the lake's surroundings fill with every color of wildflower, a beautiful sight not to be missed. The lake covers a large area, with a circumference of approximately 60 kilometers. Visitors typically need two days to visit the sights around it. You can also photograph beautiful lakeside sunrises and sunsets.
Wenquan County belongs to the Bortala Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located in the northwest of Xinjiang, in the upper reaches of the Bortala River, the northern foothills of the western section of the Tianshan Mountains and the western edge of the Junggar Basin. It borders the city of Bole to the east, the Zhentao Mountain and Huocheng County to the south, and the Republic of Kazakhstan to the west and north by the western section of the Konggolo Obo Mountain and the Alatau Mountain.
