Big one with the sonnex valve, if you have a triple disk converter and tons of line pressure like me you can get a dragging in 1st and reverse that always wants to stall the car, when you don’t have that valve or pump relief it’s the converter lockup drain back circut also , replacing that valve in the car will fix it, been there done that lol good tips!

Love the videos! Been watching both the full rebuild and this one to do mine. Kept me from doing some serious damage to my recently sourced 4l80e. I also like that I'm not drilling a bunch of holes everywhere.

"Back in the day", we had a store that was full of surplus hardware of all sorts. I would pick up bolts of various lengths, threads and sizes, cut the heads off, rounded the ends and used them as temporary alignment pins. Cheap, easy and very handy!

Best video you've ever done holly shit 🤣😉. I'm blown away greatest tutorial of all time! back on your game that's what I'm talking aboooot. I gotta ask what's with the gloves that's not usually your thing js 🤔🤣. Getting smarter I see good man. Keep it up hope this transmission does the trick.

Been wearing gloves, and fully covering my arms a lot more lately. I dont like to, but my arms have been getting real irritated lately from rust and stuff. I'll get a rash on my arms that lasts 2-3 weeks and it's annoying as hell, lol. As for the video, I do enjoy making detailed videos like this, but every task isnt always worth the detail, and 4-6 hours filming and editing. This is like a 45 minute job, but took almost 5 hours with editing. The 1-2 accumulator spring portion I disassembled/reassembled and filmed twice because the kids were noisy in the background etc.

I know your vid is older but I inquired with transgo about the pressure relief mod issues and for the differences between the transgo 2 and 3 kits, here’s what they said- “The HD2 requires a computer, it keeps it automatic. No design change, the good old Urban Legend that a pressure relief causes transmission to fail is just nonsense that does the rounds online by people that don't even know enough about basic hydraulics to know they don't know. That pressure relief when installed properly does absolutely nothing unless one day there is a pressure regulation issue, at which point it would simply kick in to save you a bunch of money on broken parts. Blaming it for a transmission failure would be like blaming your fire insurance policy for you house getting flooded during a hurricane. LOL” What’s in quotes is their reply. Have you personally seen the relief mod issue you are saying to avoid? Thanks!

I have a video on the channel with a valve crooked in the valve body on one I rebuilt for someone... Transgo also says the intermediate snap ring is optional(kit can be installed in vehicle). I broke the stock intermediate snap ring in the transmission in this video with the HD2 kit, and had to pull the whole thing apart anyways. Now, they'll probably say it broke because i didnt have the pressure relief, but I have to ask... If thats the case, do I really want that valve relief popping open and relieving fluid on every gear change? Most people I know doing this kit aren't spending money on hard parts regardless. They're throwing this in junkyard transmissions for a few hundred bucks to avoid opening up the transmission at all. They're not even installing the whole kit. There's much better options for shift kits and dual feeding internally if opening up the transmission. Jakes recal kit has no pressure relief, CK Recal kit has no relief etc. This is a cheap DIY option to use only if not removing the pump. If you're doing enough to open the transmission up I don't recommend this kit.

I guess I need some help I put the shift kit in my 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD yesterday and I did exactly as you did in the video The only thing I did different was I installed the pressure release valve and two new shift solenoid‘s but for some reason sometimes my truck will takeoff in second gear and it shifts to second gear at 15 mph and if you do not slow down to under 15 mph it will stay in second gear and once you get up to speed it will shift to drive and it has no bottom end power and when you’re on the interstate when you stomp down on it sometimes it will shift down a gear and other times it will surge how do I fix this problem??

What does the check balls do? On this kit you have to remove the ball closest to the round cap and the check ball that is closest to that one has the hole on the transmission kind of wore out?? And the part that it sits in the valve body is OK it’s just the top part of it that is on the actual transmission or is it supposed to look the way it does?
