I would just like to say thank you. I’ve been building for about four years now and I want you to know that you made a impact in my life and I’m very grateful for the time and effort you put in on RU-vid. I appreciate you
Great video. I'm building a 92 E4OD with lots of updates. One thing. Check the instructions that come with the Sonaxx case bushing. The place that rebuilt mine 27,000 mi ago only did what you just showed. Sonaxx wants that bushing put in with locktight. They also want a grove cut in the rear of the case so you can stake it in place. None of that was done and the bushing walked thereby blocking the lube passage to the output. The result was the forward planet fused itself to the hub thereby locking up the trans. I tried rocking it loose and stripped the splines. If that bushing had been installed correctly, I wouldn't have the trans all over my shop right now and be out $$$$. They show a different bush for later trans so maybe the tolerances were changed. I gave mine a slight tap and it fell out on the floor. It was already hanging a good 1/4" inside the case.
Wow man, sorry to hear that, appreciate your comment and thanks again, i dont know if the bushing has different instructions for later (which would be mine 2003 f250) but they sure should have found out !!! Again thanks for your info. and hope you recover brotha !!!
Maestro yo miro sus videos son muy profecional muy profecional muy bien explicado y claro en la cámara del video muy profecional cuando nos hiciera un video de 4t65 bien explicado como sus video gracias por compartir sus experiencias y conocimientos
You just shared with us the knowledge it took you years too acquire, including preventive tips that someone had to learn the hard way first. Thank you. Being an ASE certified tech myself since 1974, I have had more than opportunity to learn the hard way first more than once.
Thank you man, I just rebuilt mine with an alto performance kit and did every upgrade and update while I was in their and I referred back to your video more than once to make sure I was doing everything correctly thank you so much for putting this videos on RU-vid you saved me a few times during my rebuild
Ay chief, once again thanks for your professional work and dedication, you really found the best tools as well. you wouldnt mind sharing what bushing driver set you use, part number, where you bought it would ya ? Also the OEM ford rotunda tool @ 33:20 that must have cost alot ? I trust your opinion !!!
Bushing driver set is here, www.toolsource.com/bushing-tools-c-1321_119_581/major-bushing-driver-kit-26pc-p-117633.html The OEM ford tool was outrageous.
So, you dont add the C6 plate to add more clutches? What about other performance upgrades to make them stronger? Is the tugger kit that good that you dont need any other "upgrades"? I have seen welding the races to one of the drum. Any advice on that?
I know you posted this well-done video a year ago but, could you tell me where to get the best rebuilding kit for 4F100 tranny? I got one from a local transmission place but it does not include any springs of bushings, mostly gaskets and seals. Thks.
The art or rebuilding! Thank you! Very professional pleasure to watch! Got all the confidence to rebuild my E4OD(95 E350) Would love to see a 4L30E rebuild video by You.
Impressive...Beyond my skill set. Paying to have mine rebuilt but I was so unknowledgeable about all the things they are telling me. I now understand and have some thoughts about what isn't going right about my rebuild. Today will mark the 3rd time they are pulling to go back through it. The last time it had minimal forward ability...seemed fine on the rack but not under load. If this last go round doesn't produce the desired results, I am sending them to youtube to this video.
Brad, followed your 3 vids and redid my cruise o matic... But! When I put it in reverse it went forward, what is making it go the wrong way? Re watch your vid, not sure - Help!
Brad, is there any way that I could somehow speak with you directly? I'm having an issue with the 4R100 in my2001 7.3 diesel. I just rebuilt it and it isn't wanting to shift out of 1st until 3k or so after lifting off the accelerator then it seems to go into 3rd. It isn't a mechanical diode trans, I have pulled it back out and disassembled it already and can't find anything wrong. If there is a way that I could email you or speak to me on the phone, that would be great. Thanks, Marshall
Brad, I'm in need of your expertise. I realize you posted these videos a year ago, but if you're still checking on them, I will appreciate your advise. I followed your videos down to the last motion as I tore down and build up my 4R100 from my 2001 Navigator. This transmission, spit some metal that, as I found out, came from the Diode clutch. By following faithfully your videos, and watching them very carefully, not only once, but several times, I changed the Diode to a regular Sprag type and completed the build up of this transmission. I felt optimistic about it since I very consciously put it all together, but what was my surprise that it did not work as it should. Reverse works great but when it first starts, it does not seem to start on first, not even second, seems as it starts rolling on third...very sluggish and slow and it never shifts to any other speed. If i bring the lever down to 1st, it doesn't seem to engage in first, it feels as it was second instead since the truck feels a little stronger to start rolling. If I select 2nd, before I roll it out, it feels stronger than when I start in D, and if I change it to D as it picks up speed a little sluggish, it changes to another speed (maybe third). I got no idea what I did wrong since it was not running like that before the Diode broke. Although I followed your videos to the letter, I must have done something wrong, I will tear it down again, but I would like to know what should I expect, Do you have any ideas or comments on what might have gone wrong? Thank you in advance for your help.
Thanks for replying so quick. No, I didn't change the solenoid pack, and yes, I got a code indicating that the computer was a disagreement between speed and gear (forgot the code no.) I changed the Input Speed Signal and still no good. I have also checked the electrical plug to the harness, and although is difficult to get to it with the transmission installed, seems to be well connected. Do you think that it might be something else I should do, like disconnect it and reconnect it again? Thanks a million!!
