Welcome to Jafffa Adventures where Jill and Terry take off for a half year trip through the remote regions of South Australia and Western Australia. The genesis of the trip was the solar eclipse at Exmouth on April 20th, but we decided to turn the adventure into half a year on the road visiting the most remote places we can get. In this video we explore the remote and lesser known Goog's 4WD track. We explore this amazing four wheel drive track, often called a mini Simpson Desert. We make it all the way out to Goog's Lake and set up camp for an amazing night there. If this is not on your bucket list, it should be!!
This one is not to be missed if you are in the area and you enjoy sand driving. You must be appropriately prepared to take on very soft sand conditions, but if you are you will not be disappointed with Goog's track.
If you like overlanding, if you like remote unspoiled places, if you like 4WD action, then this is the place to be.

I'm impressed how Jill was just calmly (& looking chilled) sitting under the shade reading a book during your lunch stop at Googs Lake, considering all those dasdardly March flies were everywhere. ✊😁

I did Googs tk in 2011 with a standard 92 GQ Patrol with 33 inch BFG,s had no probs 16 psi all round and only used low range once on one dune 2/3 rds through the trip , great vid,the little,van at Streaky Bay does great fish and chips well worth a visit.

Great roadtrip mate, if you do head back to Streaky Bay you can get an excellent surf on turf meal at the hotel there. If you like fishing Fowlers bay is excellent for squid of the jetty and mulloway of the beach.

I had a feeling that since you were out there you'd be tackling the Googs Track.... next guess is after you relaxed in Coober Pedy you went back and did the Anne Beadell Highway (both are on my ever-expanding bucket list). Saw you pop-up on Shonky Productions' crossing of the Simpson btw. So many great coastal towns between Pt Lincoln and Ceduna... I can't wait to get out there again sometime.... and whilst out there go do the tour of Maralinga. Can't wait till next Friday's video. :)

Hey Terry on my Hema paper map it gives a warning that Goog's track should only be traversed from South to North, the route you took. We are planning to do it in the other direction, North to South and was wondering if from your crossing whether there was any obvious reason that N to S would be a major challenge? On the map they say that the track has many very high dunes with blowouts on the north side, and hence the reason to travel in the S to N direction. Your trip looked fairly leisurely, and not the major challenges and blowouts that they talk of.

With the appropriate setup it’s dead easy in either direction. I think in one of my episodes I did a u turn and took on a couple of the larger dunes in the opposite direction to our travel just to have a go. No problems either way mate. As an amateur enthusiast only I don’t like to disagree with the professionals like Hema, but in this case I think they are way off the mark. I would not hesitate a N to S traverse mate. Enjoy👍😎

They finally replaced the sign at the south end 🤣 add covid sign after its a non thing 😂 Is the North sign replaced its a sun breached white sign

@Jafffa Adventures you would think the liability of not having a legible sign at North end would freak them out enough to replace it.... We had to turn 2 cars around that pull in both thinking from Google maps was "just a road" They both came from WA and thought would be a good short cut.... Neither were set up or had enough water to make it, let alone it got stuck and had to wait.

@Jafffa Adventures the scary part is its quiet a far way in before you hit sand driving from the north you very much are to committed fuel wise for most people without long-range tank. One went on to Kingoonya and their car was 40km to empty driving into town. Fuel wise googs have be fine if was the "dirty road" highly doubt would have made it with the extra work of the sand dunes.... They had no radio, no sat phone its scary the people you meet, plus coming the WA direction to Kingoonya they also weren't on a used road, it's actually permit only and only used for train track maintenance.... Lol they knew their next stop didn't have water for a shower so thought would do a quick trip to Ceduna for a shower 😅
