4x4 Overland Adventure Clubs Are Becoming Popular 

As a mechanical maintenance officer in Vietnam the biggest problem I had was getting enough clutch discs for the deuce and a halfs. The GIs burned them up in record numbers either due to bad training or malicious damage. Tons of them were coming into the warehouses down in Saigon but weren’t getting up to us near DaNang. The Vietnamese seemed to have no problems getting them, however. One time I traded the rebuild of a five-ton transmission for six clutch discs with a RVN Major. It took several attempts to get the deal right. The first time he tried to pass off a muddy five-ton disc for the ones I wanted. Finally I got him to bring me the discs and his damaged transmission. We took the rebuild out of its shipping can and put his bad one back in before sending it down the road to the Philco Ford depot repair.

Your ride was the best overlander there by a long shot. You brought a gun to a knife fight!

The chassis on that trunk is what we used to call a deuce and a half. It was the armies general service hauler for troops and trailers. Above that was the 5 ton truck which was heavier and hauled the 155 howitzers and the like.

You know that feeling when you show up at a dinner party in suit and everybody else is wearing jeans and sneakers? I guess Steve must have felt similar when he showed up at this event with his M109A3. Overdressed for the occasion.

I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and a Jeep Patriot 4x4 that are both just begging for some more exccessories and trail time but time's been at a premium for me so I'm enjoying this one.

I'm surprised you didn't get a ticket, then those pick ups flew past you. If it was me, I got pulled over everywhere I went.

The truck sounds really noisy inside

You can't have goats or sheep and not have Great Pyreenes dogs in the pasture with them. And at least one donkey or jack-ass (4 legged kind). Wolves, coyotes, and other predators get shredded by these two.

Love your Austin videos, vintage car videos in general, the M109 and the videos about it's conversion; but i don't get this "Overland Adventure Club" when you are just standing in a farm field and some brought literal mall-crawlers. I understand there are Covid limitations in a lot places but this looks like a bit pointless.
