Did anyone ever figure out how to get calls to go through to the OEM Bluetooth? I connected my phone to both my car and my new iNAV unit and set the OEM one to calls only, and iNAV to everything but phone, and it don't work at all.

Can't even update operating system from 10 to 11. Even though there is an option that lets you upgrade the system but they still don't send out updates to you. If i would've known that I wouldn't have dropped $700 on this unit.

hello .., I would like to mount it on my bmw 3 series f30 2012, but the audio quality remains the same as the original? because i read that you have to connect the unit via aux right? instead the audio quality via USB is much higher! Thank you..

I purchased the Android 10 version from you last February. Am I understanding correctly that in order to be able to use the factory microphone I will need to buy a brand new screen using Android 11? Is there no way to upgrade the software?

I just bought the latest Android 11 version, and even with BT 5.0 you CANNOT use the factory BT and still have wireless CarPlay/AA. With both BT systems active the Android unit will set up initially with both connections (as seen in this video) but will not connect once it shuts down and restarts again. This is a major disappointment since this is the main reason I didn't go ahead with the Android 10 unit before. Debating whether to keep this now or return it, as the BT call quality through the Android unit is abysmal.

@@superspeeder I am having the exact same issue. This video @2.29 clearly says in andorid 11 Bluetooth 5 you can use bmw Bluetooth and it is 10 times better than Android Bluetooth. This is just BS. I am thinking they are just selling Android 10 units and calling then Android 11. When I contact then they say you should forget bmw Bluetooth in your phone to use wireless carplay. Completely opposite to what they say in this video. Sales gimmicks

@@mboss_f8618 I don’t doubt these are Android 11, but I think they don’t have any connection with the people who are writing the applications, and make assumptions about the unit’s capabilities, advertise as such, then realize afterwards they’re wrong. The big issue here is they’re continuing to false advertise.

@@superspeeder 100% agree. All they can do is sell them and install. Their tech support can't really answer anything. Once you buy these you are on your own. You really can't return these units either

hello i dont understand why you connecte with wire the android and the apple phones ? you cant use the hotspot wifi mean the 4g of the phone when you are connected to the blutooth of the car ? i am lost here :)

Because wireless CarPlay uses the phone's wifi hotspot in addition to the BT connection. To use apps on the Android side of the unit requires a dedicated wifi connection.

Wait so you cannot make a call and then switch back to CarPlay?

@@Super90. yes you can, but only using the Android unit’s BT which has very poor audio quality compared to the factory system. The Android ships with an optional external microphone which may improve the call quality, I’ll have to go back and re-install with this microphone to see if call quality improves. Not exited to have an aftermarket mic stuck to my car’s interior.

@@superspeeder I wonder if there is anyway to track down the wire for the OEM microphone and plug it into the Android's external mic jack. Would probably involve soldering a different connector to it. I assume it ran to the original head unit.

@@spencerh8422 it’s certainly possible, as long as the factory mic has a similar impedance and sensitivity to the aftermarket mic, and you don’t mind hacking into a factory wire harness. One of the attractions here is the plug-n-play connectivity, but that goes away if solutions like these are necessary.

@@spencerh8422 on my F10 I verified the OEM microphone grille just pops out of the roof liner by pushing left and pulling down on the right side, then sliding right. You can access the plug that connects it to the BMW system, HOWEVER, in doing some research it seems you'll get a diagnostic error if there's nothing hooked up to the factory mic plug (if the mic fails the error appears to help diagnose the issue), so in my opinion rewiring the OEM microphone to the Android unit is NOT a good solution. The aftermarket mic is ugly and not something I want to display inside my car, especially if it's out in the open like it needs to be to pick up my voice clearly.

Couple of items/issues: 1) I don’t need to use the aux. When I connect to the OEM Bluetooth the audio works. 2) Spotify and other apps default the audio to CarPlay. When this happens the audio doesn’t work and I need to switch it to the OEM “BMW …” Bluetooth. I need to do this everytime I start the app and it kind of sucks. Anyone find a way around this? 3) I can’t hear Siri. Siri can hear me but I don’t hear the responses. Anyone have a fix for that?

I’m also looking for the same workaround. Someone earlier in the posts suggested going into your iPhone settings > Accessibility > Touch > and then toggle on Call Audio Routing to Bluetooth Headset. And then going into the Bluetooth profile of your BMW and updating its device type to Headphone. So that at least calls are routed to your BMW BT recognized as a headphone instead of the CarPlay/Android unit. I’ll try testing this out… you posted this 2 months ago, did you end up figuring out a solution by any chance ?
