Back in 2000s MySpace era I was talking to several catfish, and was mostly aware of it. Like I just automatically assumed someone is not real instead of the other way round. Got a few delivering crazy stories like bad accidents and near-death experiences, even to the point of pretending to have died, only to have their "friend" (either another catfish acc or a rl friend also catfishing) take over with a new identity. I was kind of aware of all this subconsciously, but having had a connection with these people I was still hurt and sad. Met a guy online and after being in a long distance relationship for two years with someone ...I wasn't trusting of that again, but he was far, not as far, but still. Not a full week after we met he drove more than 37 hours alone to come and meet me and I know because we video called the whole time. Flew to him last week and seeing him at Christmas.
