This project introduces a digitally controlled 5.1 channel audio preamplifier system. This amplifier is specifically designed to increase the gain of the multi-channel PC sound cards.
This preamplifier consists of six TL074/TL072 preamplifier stages and PT2258 electronic volume control. The input stage of this preamplifier consists of six TL074/TL072 buffer stages. The PIC16F886 microcontroller manages the PT2258 electronic volume control IC. All the volume levels and menu options are displayed on HD44780, 16x2 character LCD screen.
This video shows all the steps of this project including, soldering, wiring, and menu system of the preamplifier.

I'd like to drop some comments, I hope you won't mind. 1. I like how nice and tight the layout is. Love it. Also pretty good soldering. 2. TLXXX series opamps are terrible in audio, they have a lot of distortion in high frequency, making them sound harsh and tiring. If you wanna go cheap just use NE5532 (there is no quad package though). If you want to stay FET OPA1642. Also, it's a nice habit to use local decoupling capacitors near opamps (you can use 100nF between power rails). 3. Coupling capacitors should be bipolar electrolytic of much bigger capacitance, then you expect from simple filter calculation. Make them at least 10x, preferably 20x bigger then they need to be. Electrolytics will have significant distortion if there is a signal voltage on the capacitor (and input filter is a voltage divider, so bigger capacitance means lower internal resistance at given frequency, hence lower voltage on a capacitor). All of that and more you all can find in Douglas Self book called Small signal audio design. It's highly recommended! Cheers

how many amperes for the transformer? and I also replaced the TL opamp IC with a NE5532, is that possible?

This converts stereo into 5.1? How s the surround seperation though?

No, this needs 5.1 input. According to the PT2258 datasheet, it provides 90dB to 110dB channel separation.
