5.1 does work on TV with optical cable. It does not work on mobile. PC I am not sure.

With every video you can check the audio settings. When the audio settings are listed then you can choose between 5.1 and 2.1. This is on TV and PC. Not on mobile. When the sound setting is not there (as with mobile) then there is no 5.1. If you put on a video on TV or PC, check the setting if the 5.1 is on. Good luck

Hello, normally the sound is played on each speaker separately. There is normally no sound on the L and R speakers while sound is being played on LR and LF. To make things work properly, I've configured my player (Android TV) to transmit the sound without processing it from 5.1 to 2.0. I also activated 5.1 on the RU-vid app. (support.google.com/youtube/answer/11904456?hl=en) As for the subwoofer, to hear the sound immediately I switched from "auto" mode to "on" mode. In "auto" mode, it's possible that the subwoofer is triggered after a short moment when it detects a sound to play.

@@alexflex25 Hi, thanks for your reply. My TCL Roku TV is configured to pass all sound unprocessed through the eARC directly to my Denon AVR-X3800H. All other app such as Netflix, Prime, HBO MAX, Apple TV pass the 5.1 brilliantly. Even some RU-vid videos do as well. I can not find a setting on this particular (or any) video to enable/disable 5.1 as indicated in this link you provided nor on my RU-vid settings.

@@chrism-m5223 I couldn't get a screenshot on my TV, but when I'm in the RU-vid app. When the video is playing, I can press the "ok" button on my remote control (to bring up the timeline). Then I can move to the right to open the settings. In this menu, I can change the video quality, add subtitles, and then I have "5.1 Surround" which I can activate or deactivate. Then "Report", "Comment" and "Stats for nerds".

@@alexflex25 Thanks again. Yes, I am at the settings button/menu right of timeline. On my Roku TV RU-vid app, there is not a 5.1 Surround option. I did watch another 5.1 test video that showed a picture of the settings where this switch should be. It's clearly missing on my implementation. I have all the other settings, vid quality, subtitles, etc. I did check for latest update which I am running. I'm going to have to consult with some roku tv/RU-vid forums to understand why it's not being supported fully.

Hi, can you give me the reference of your subwoofer? it may be in "automatic" mode. On mine I have an on/off/automatic position. When it is in automatic mode, it can take a few seconds to start up when the signal arrives.

So the answer to having a solo LFE when provided and accompanied sub when other speakers do: Bass manager: INDEPENDANT Woofer setting: SUB L/R + LFE front speakers: LARGE centre speaker: LARGE surr speakers: SMALL the SMALL/LARGE depends on your setup and taste. I have big front towers (44 -20.000hz), so I want them set to LARGE to get the full range there. I could also put them to SMALL with the crossover freq at 40hz to save some amp power when it tries to give my front speakers a

@@alexflex25 no es es un sonido real como tal a 5. 1 canales, son simulados, te invito a hacer una prueba en sistemas de sonido 5.1 y veras que no, tales como yamaha, harman kardon, sony etc, yo tengo un Yamaha y un sony ambos smart y ninguno detecta 5.1 canales de RU-vid y en efecto en mi pantalla si lo tengo pero te repito solo es un sonido simulado.

Sin embargo, para llegar allí, tuve que configurar mi Android TV Box para que no convirtiera las señales de audio a estéreo. (Perdón, no sé si quede muy claro, no hablo nada de español, uso traductor de google)

@@alexflex25 Thank you for your reply, I have read the link you replied to other people, the final conclusion is that if this video is indeed 5.1 channel, then 5.1 channel can only be achieved on set-top boxes and TVs. But for computer, there's just 2 channel stereo, and no options to choose from, even the computer is 5.1 channel.

I don't have a 5.1 installation on my PC, but I'll try to find someone to test this. Thanks for your answer.
