I have been wearing Vertx pants but really look forward to trying these and the jeans. Finally guys are getting comfortable pants!! It took years for Cherokee to make scrubs for men that stretch. Now I can work at the hospital 14 hours in comfort. My wife just got a pair of 5.11 Wyldcat pants in the mail last week. She LOVES them! You should surprise your wife with a pair. Thanks for the reviews, Ive been trying to find one.
Based on your review I ordered the 5.11 Defender Flex Pant, and received it today. As usual, your reviews are well done and motivating enough for me to go check the gear out. The Defender Flex is much nicer than I thought it would be. Just wish it had a small thigh pocket like the Vertx Delta Stretch, I picked those up too last week and love that pocket. All in all, the 5.11 Defender is a really nice pair of trousers and I am looking forward to their denim version soon to come.
I'm torn between the 5.11 defender flex pants and vertx delta and no stores near me have them to see or try on, can you help persuade me one way or the other? Both look awesome.
I just picked up a pair of these pants at a brick and mortar 5.11 store and these are awesome. A word of caution is the sizes run a little big. I have other 5.11 pants that are a 36 which leaves room for CCW I needed to go down to a 34 and it still gave me plenty of room.
I ordered these pants after watching your video and good thing I did! I just received them and they fit so well i'm going to order more! Thanks for the great review and keep posting videos!
The Straight Fits are really roomy and have a loose look to them but not like baggy. The Slim Fits hug your calves, but leaves plenty of room for the thighs. Both are spacious around the crotch/balls area which allow you to have much better flexibility than normal jeans. In terms of looks, think of it like Levi's 505 vs 511.
I've been wearing the Levis 'Elastane' style jeans for over a couple of years now, and they are holding up great. The added pockets in the 5.11 make it a big win in a tactical pant... I like the deep coin pocket, and the two extra utility pockets in the back. Thanks for the review... Tube On!
The jeans are AWESOME. I use them for everything from range days to work, dates with the girl to social stuff. Amazingly comfortable and flexible. Worth the price.
The big belt loops are a great addition over the 5.11 stryke pants I usually wear with my SnakeEater belt the loops are small. Definitely going to give these a go👍 .....just checked and disappointed no Storm color option
Ehhh, decent pants I guess. Hard to beat what KUHL offers, especially their KONFIDANT AIR or RADIKL pants. The most comfortable and innovative pants out IMO. Worth every penny and their colors are sick! Try one pair and post opinion. Keep up the cool vids!
I need a pair of pants that I can work on helicopters with , but also be semi-professional when I need them. Not like an ugly pair of dickies or baggie blue mechanic pants. That "mag pocket" is perfect for flashlights for me. AND these pants a relatively cheap compared to other tactical pants. The slim version on this video look like they fit way better than the 5.11 picture on their website. Thanks for the review!!! It helped me in purchasing these!!
excellent review..i own some Bear Grylls cloths because i like having some wiggle room, but after watching this I'm so owning these when they become available..thanks again and take care.
I got tired of the price point of some of those tactical pants, now the original vertx were my favorite and lasted forever. anymore I just wear some Wrangler nylon pant that they sell at Walmart and honestly other than the belt loops being kinda small for most belts, I use the proctor belt, works just fine for me and so much cheaper. even comes in your standard colors.

Bought these and they're much longer than my other pants in the same size. Yours even bunch up a reasonable amount at the ankle. Need to find a tailor now.
Looks like a good pant-NOW if they only come in a "old guy, short Fat veteran"size! We'll be good. By the way, I appreciate the reviews you do, I have actually made several purchases after watching your reviews. Just continue to "charlie mike"
Love your videos. Bought a bunch of 5.11 pants and the Skeletool CX after watching your reviews. Have you looked into a wireless mic? Seems awkward to have to move around with that wired mic.
Great video mike, like always!! How would these be in the warmer weather (70-80 Fahrenheit)? Also, is the slimness throughout the entire pant or more focused on a certain area? (I.e. In the crotch, the legs, in the thigh area, Etc)
New sub here. Keep the pants reviews coming! Haven't checked out your other vids yet but if you haven't done any belt review please do! Look forward to your other vids!
Going to pick up a pair of these asap. Have a couple of pairs of TD Carlos Ray 2.1's and really like them. These look similar., might be better might not. Totally on the want the tactical pants not looking tactical pants ban wagon. Check out the TD Carlos Rays. Would be good to see your perspective of the 2. Great vids, big fan keep them going...
I've been looking for a pair of khakis to replace my current work pants which are sort of cheap walmart stretchy wrangler khakis. The fact that these pants look pretty similar and have a back-ish pocket to put my flashlight and maybe a phone would really help out how I carry my EDC. Gonna have to order a pair. Thanks for the review.
How are these in terms of breathability and water resistance? I’ve been reviewing best hiking pants on the market and they measure that, then I have tactical pants to compare. Would like sone pants that are durable and great on the range and a weekend shooting class, but breathable and water resistant hiking in the elements.
Thanks for your great reviews. I just picked up 2 pairs of the new 5.11 Edge Chino's from local Bass Pro shop on sale for $47. May want to check them out. Definitely less tactical look and about the same number of pockets. Supper comfortable and perfect for business casual or everyday. I will say (at least for me) the Chino's seemed to run big with the elastic waist, I typically wear a 32 or 33 waist in pants but ended up going with a 30 waist in the Chino's and comfortably fits a M&P 9c IWB. Only complaint is even though advertised as "slim fit" I still wish they had a little more tapered leg opening. I've got a pair of the Defender Flex slim on the way also to compare.
@@MarkBunoy They're pretty darn tapered. They do make a non tapered version. The resistor pant I think. Not 100% sure, Kuhl has SO many different types of pants. I just like the ones they have with 2 drop in side pockets. One for my phone and the other for my vape. :-) One thing I have figured out (as I own 20+ pairs of Kuhl pants in several different styles) is that the Resistor pant and chino at lease has a Coin pocket that's deep enough for my Leatherman Skelatool. :-)
Same size pants I wear at least for waist. Sometimes a 32 length feels baggy. How tall are you? You wear pretty form fitting shirts, where do you usually find your tshirts? I wear size medium and sometimes I find appendix concealment a slight challenge. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes I feel with movement you can see a bump or whatever. Since wearing appendix I for the most part will not wear any other way. I sport a G26 99% of the time. Can't conceal a G19 appendix comfortably. I think I see why your holster conceals well and it might be the placement on the curve end of the holster to pull the handle closer. Might have to buy one and try it out. I switch between two depending on my shirt.
I run, squat and workout my legs so my thighs are so tight in those pants I look like a 40yr old hipster lol How would you compare the Ridgeline vs Defender Flex?
I'd say the ridgelines are a little roomier in the thighs. I don't often skip leg day, but don't have monster thighs either - both of them work alright for me.
Great vids man, your insight has helped me tremendously. You're really down to Earth, but I can tell that you shop for quality and your opinions are really well thought out. I would love to see what you think about some pants made by GoRuck and TAD (Triple Aught Design).
no offense brother only good things are meant by this comment but try UF Pro they have the best tactical pants I've worn in 12 to 15 years they're definitely for professionals and are expensive about $130 at the cheapest you can get them off of Poland near tactical a little cheaper but they're made in Slovenia just a little tidbit for you if you want to know about some real tactical pants
I have two pair of Ridgelines. My concern was that they would be a slim fit. Everyone told me that they have plenty of leg room. I ordered two pairs. I workout alot...and those things fit pretty close to my legs. I'm assuming these (slim) pants might fit extra tight for me.
I've not tried these yet but the 511 Apex I have two pair and my freinds make fun of me for wearing them all the time. I'll have to try these ones out I guess. I seen somewhere they have 511 jeans also. Maybe you next review lol. thanks for sharing!
So I went and purchased these 5.11 defender flex (slim) pants at my local 5.11 store yesterday. Wearing them at work today, and I love them. They feel great. Unfortunately my ccw license will not arrive for about another month, so I can't speak on the conceal carry factor. However I would recommend these pants. The feel, stretchability, and cut are great. I will probably still order a pair of the Vertx Delta's though...why not. I definitely plan on buying more colors of the 5.11 defenders.
Hello! How are these pants with sizes? I just can not determine the size that suits me. I saw a dimensional grid on the manufacturer's website. But nevertheless, I have difficulty with the choice. I saw in one your review of another pair of pants of this firm that the size on the tag was W32 L32. Usually, with a belt size of 87 cm, I'm guided by the size of W34 L34. My height is 6'1" ( 186 cm ), weight is 175 lbs ( 79 kg ). I read in the review on site 5.11 that this model of pants is slightly larger. This is true? Good luck in the new year!
Tim Kennedy (sponsored by 5.11), in a recent interview with Lance Armstrong, said the solution to the gun problem is a gun ban, then proceeded to give a completely inaccurate explanation on how the background check, to get a firearm, works. Wow. Don’t take my word for it, watch it for yourself it’s at the 11 minute mark in the video. Will second guess purchasing from 5.11 now.
Those are very cool. But I have a pair of Tactical pants made by Rustler ,I gottem at the Walmart for 9.95 I can carry 2 double stack fullsize 1911's and 5 extra mags ,1 coffin shaped switchblade and a number 12 Opinel (my favorite knife) , i also wear a tactical 2X Tee shirt .It was marked 1.00 at garage sale down there in Standish Mi, . But I jewed them down to .75 cents. Then I got my tactical black steel toe shop work boots. Then I got 275 pounds of ass and two big fist . Hell , you caint even tell im carrying any weapons. All people can see is a little bit of beerbelly stickin out . But I will fix that this year at the 1st garage sale where I can find a good used 3X Tee Shirt.
Great videos as always but I have to ask where do you get a lot of your shirts at?!?!? I see so many of your shirts that are firearms related and I. Really want some so I can get away from the standard plain, solid colored v neck shirts
What tactical pants would everyone recommend that have the more “fitted look” (I can’t stand baggy) like these and the Vertx he mentioned, but that have the more cargo/tactical look as well?
Dude what's with all of the arse shots!? Just kidding, great video. Killer breakdown and seems like a great pair of pants. I really like the location of the pockets on the back above the regular back pocket
So mike...are u into any type of self defense? Do u rely more on your guns, ammo, Knives? Do u conceal and carry outside. Not trying to make you vulnerable by having u answer just curious. What the mindset I guess u could say.
These are awesome pants. However, they did everything right except for one thing, the front pockets are way too short. Classic case of design but no one wore them first to see what might be better. Seriously great pant but my iPhone 7 jabs me. So close. Also, if 9.11 is going ng to continue to have Tim Kennedy as a spokesperson, then I may not but anything more from them. (Tim Kennedy is not the best 2A supporter, just see his Lance Armstrong interview and judge for yourself).
So are you saying that you wear a 32 waist without the gun and with the G19 you do not need a 34? Did I understand you correctly because I wear a 32 without IWB carry and a 34 with IWB carry.
Hey Mike. I've read through all of the comments (I believe) and I didn't see anyone asking the question I am hoping to have answered: Are these jeans true to size? Is a 30" inseam really 30"? Is the waist true to size? Do they run big or small? I'm looking to use your coupon code and order through Optics Planet, but I want to make sure I'm choosing the right sizes. Thanks! OTR
Hey man, I haven't measured with a tape measure or anything, but I typically wear a 32x32 in most pants and these pants seem to fit me perfect in a 32x32.
That's exactly what I was hoping to hear! Thanks and placing and order either today or tomorrow! By the way, still loving the videos. Also liked that you shared the personal things you did on your hotel room vlog. Keep up the greatness!
may get pair just to have a hybrid tactical jean. wish they were 85%+ cotton to not risk dripping melting fusing into skin in hot situation like campfire/bonfire and stagehand pryo technics. hhave 100% cotton tactical so far, they still make denim noise, but no synthetic swish, so i can stealth creep on someone. ps. has anyone worn mostly synthetic pants yoga/tactical etc. and been exposed to these super hot infernos or other heat sources and lived to tell us about it aka not experienced synthetic melt drip fuse?
@lastlineofdefense im struggling to decide between a pair of these and the vertx delta stretch. if you had to choose between the two, which would you choose and why??
just found your channel, but I love it. new subscriber here, keep it up! Love how your tactical but not so "dick hard" about it. some of these guys go a bit over board with their demeanour and "tacticallity" but I like your vibe. Dope video quality too
Another great review! Your review of the Vertx Delta made me buy them. (Best pants to date!) Question: how tight are these 5.11 pants through the thigh and buttocks areas, as compared to the Vertx? Built like a centaur, here. Thanks!
I keep my spare pistol mag in the change pocket. Is the extra depth going to make the mag hard to get out? Usually I run a Glock 19, sometimes a 26 sometimes a Shield.
Any idea if there's something narrow leg with cargo's and knee has the inside insert for knee pads? Extra plus if it has those little pockets you used for edc items like flashlight, knife, etc
