Hey Nutnfancy, a friend of mine told me about your videos here on youtube and I've been hooked for 2 weeks now. Only 1000+ more videos to watch! Thanks for the support on all the gear. Every bit on information is greatly appreciated! Keep going strong!
Another great video by NUTN!! Dude you better never leave youtube...I wouldn't know what to watch!! You gotta do a vid on the 5.11 Saber 2.0 jacket...PLEASE!!!
I know nutn gets allot of hate and isnt respected as much as allot of others in the community, but truth be told he has gotten hundreds if not thousands into the outdoors and firearms, me included!
For those tgat question why he put his holster on the left side.... He has long arms which would make it hard to draw from the right side. There for making it more comfortable and fluid motion as he reaches to draw his sidearm. ... im just sayin! Thank You Nutn, you are the MAN and I appreciate all your hard work and dedication! !!!
The use of elastic straps for securing the magazines reminds me of the "10 speed" system used by Blue Force Gear. I purchased one of their SR25 chest rigs after watching your review and have been very pleased with it. I've been using the SR25 to hold AK variant mags and it seems to be holding up very well despite not being made for them. Thanks for the great info, I've been watching since 2008.
please do a video on lightest weight (but durable) front/back plate carriers. (particularly that would work well with dkx armor). Thanks for the great videos! keep it up!
And this is why you're the best gear reviewer going. Love the idea about heating the utility blade. Was a little disturbed by that one dude with the 5.11 vest, lol. . . btw, was there a reason you put the holster on your support/left side? Seems like on your strong side the grip would be out of the way of the mags. Maybe on the right it would sit too high for your right hand to be able to draw it easily?
You should review Travis Haley's new chest rig that he just released, he has mentioned your videos many times on facebook and given you allot of credit. The least you could do is give his new rig a solid review, and it looks promising and its available in some really awesome patterns like Kryptek Highlander!
Good review. I've actually been looking at this rig for the reason you mentioned. Wanted something light and mobile. I'd drop like a rock if I had to carry 16 lbs of plate on me. LOL!! Glad to see you back in the swing of things!!
NUT 'N Just bought this "Tic Tac" rig in STORM (Grey) and its color is great in an urban environment. QUESTION TIME: On you review you have the pistol holster all the way across your body in the left pouch... why not the right pouch???? Why not use a bungy on all of them? (Yeah I know it runs deep) but is there any other reason(s)??? THANKS!
Very funny!!! I was just eyeballing this rig an hour before the review posted. I'm a LEO looking for active shooter gear. Not entirely sold on this rig, I'm looking to augment my normal patrol duty belt. No need for chest mounted pistol however I would like something I could adapt to a shotgun should I chose to forgo the rifle. Any direction?
Dude, you r getting better. I know that probably makes you kinda hate me, but the personality makes me happy. Short vids r gud too, for the dumber of us, u know?
You should try the new HSP chest rig-- in the demo vid, Mr Haley shows how to integrate a G-Code holster that was specced specifically for the rig, and it seems to have all the same features and more that this 5.11 one does But regardless, I've been missing some LBE vids from you, keep up the great work dude!
Great work Nutt, im from brazil and i learned a lott from your videos. Here we cant carry guns, just iff you are a bad guy or police officer. Great job.
cool review Nutn, love 5.11! I use their RUSH 12 for a daily commuting backpack to & from work, and love the TacLite Pro Pants & shorts! Will have to look into this option. One question though, all things considered, would you prefer this chest rig or the Phalanx Type 4 from TAG that you previously reviwed? Would've been cool to see some comparison in vid, but cool if u can answer here too. Thanks dude and take care!! ROCK ON!
Begs the question sir - what IS the best one stop shopping for value conscious SHTF rig that has all the goodies...pistol mount, pistol mags, light/laser/knife, rifle ammo/mags, soft armor (rifle plate add-able), water, etc.? ie plate rack? I am just not satisfied with my component system at present and am starting the research to form a fully integrated system with one-stop shopping. Please advise? What is the HOF - OSS RIg?
Hey nutnfancy, I'm 170lbs and 6 foot tall. I'm a skinny boy. I'm looking for a plate carrier that is cheap but doesn't sacrifice any durability or comfort for the fit. I dont care about looks and want full torso coverage to allow the use of side sapis as well. I've looked at rothco, condor and voodoo but am just wondering which company has more user friendly, cost effective equipment? Also is eBay safe to buy armor plates off of? Thanks brother have a good one. Mrjbuddrow
Not bad the only thing I see that might be a problem well two things that is.. #1. side by side mags makes for mag slope after you take one mag outta it's position. #2 This might be a little noisy w/side by side mags clanking into each other if your trying to be covert. I do like up self inflected pistol pouch set up nice touch for sure. And to be able to have a little body amour plate is better than knot. Once again great vid's from you brother. :)
Hey nunt, have you checked out what myself and many of my buddies call the "Low Vis" rigs, such as the PIG Bringandine, Rouge gunfighter LVR, LBT slick? the option to integrate a chest rig with buckles and then ditch it is very easy on all of the mentioned above, and they can still carry plates.
will we see this in a gun and run video? i do like it. but could you have used the molle attachment on the out side of where you put the kidex holster and attached the kidex to the molle. fewww .
u could use bungees for securing the pistol too...also, put a hole through top of the flaps, and pull them bungees through for rifle mags, while keping the flaps, maybe covering pistol mag pouches...i wonder though, can u "intsall" the kydex holster on a right side of the rig? or is too much of an interference, with pistol grip poking the side and ribs?
I am actually in the market for a new LBE but I am thinking I will end up just going with the TAG plate carrier. If I needed an LBE where I wan't going to run a plate system then I think id probably go with the 511 tac vest instead of this. Cool option just not for me. Thanks for the review.
How would this fit with a b.o.b? I am currently running the 5.11 rush 12 backpack as my b.o.b. I am trying to find a chest rig that wont conflict with my b.o.b
"...flash bangs for an upcoming airsoft tourney..." I nearly spit my Spaten Oktoberfest all over my PC. :-) With the modifications you had to make, I couldn't help but think that the system really isn't a great one. I like what you did, and wouldn't by a chest rig or vest that does have some way to incorporate a handgun (secondary weapon) and a couple of extra handgun mags, but I was left thinking this rig just didn't hit the mark... at least for me. But excellent review as always. Thanks!
Looks like an ok rig. I'd still go with a Blue Force Gear Ten Speed. It's the best quality/no frills chest rig out there. I even think you did a review of it.
is there a chance you could review the ballistic plate carrier by global defense supply group? they've got nsn #'s and all, but how would they stack up against a condor mopc?
Great Review and Vid. Natchez Shooter Supply (natchezss) has all G-Code holsters and accessories on Clearance holster as low as 9.99 the tactical SOC holster 59.99. G-code system is awesome with having the attachment hip, thigh or inside the pants and the holsters are 100% interchangeable.
I'm going to train physically and tactically in it at my private range. Also it would make me feel a little safer with shtf type situations. I'm also on a budget because I have a wedding coming up and am tight as EFF on cash.
Why not put the pistol on the right side? Since you don't like that bumgee mag slot anyway, could've saved that velcro cover on the left side. I think maybe because either you are left handed, or maybe it gets in the way of the rifle if you put the pistol on the right side
How about a load out vid to support a Glock 40 cal, RFB 24 in 308 and Mossburg 500 or KSG (if you can find one under 2000) 12 gauge. Condor comes to mind. Can you do this with a pack, Alice, Kelty,or interior frame pack. POU think bug out load out. No plates keep things light. not run and gun but sheepdog run and protect. Love the vid,s and the concern for the country. Thanks for your service!! P.S. no screws Pop rivets!
Just to close the loop with you NF: I am in the market for a vest and narrowed it down to two choices - this one and one other one. On your recommendation and on price, I chose the 5.11. I ordered it in late December. In late January I emailed their customer service asking for status. I got nothing back. Today I called to cancel the order. The rep said my online order "didn't make it all the way through" their system. Whatever - I'll find a vendor whose system works and who can reply to email.
Yes it would. The average person won't be popping rounds at your head (despite what they think) and will most likely result to center mass shots when placed under the duress that is inherent to combat. In a WROL situation if you're hit in a lethal area outside the plate (head, neck, etc.) you'll die fairly quickly if not instantly. Why suffer as the open chest wound progresses into tension pneumothorax as you lose consciousness and eventually die struggling desperately to breath the entire time?
