Not to sound like all of the other comments, but this video saved my butt. My 1999 Tahoe 5.7 vortec just stopped all of the sudden and wouldn't start. I checked the battery connections, charged the battery, and then replaced the starter, but it still wouldn't turn over...this didn't make any sense to me. The transmission wasn't holding the pressure plate and the engine wasn't mechanically seized...why wouldn't it spin? Then I saw this video, sniffed the dipstick (smelled like gas), took it back to the shop who had worked on my intake 7 months prior (they had installed a new spider gear), stated my case, defended against their initial pushback, and guess what, they drained it, refilled the oil and put in new spark plugs, installed a new spider gear (under warranty and hopefully they did it right this time) and it started right up (and at no additional cost to me). I was just about to think about scrapping this truck, and now she's back to running like a top.
your a life saver bro. i thought my engine seized up on my 5.7l tahoe … turns out i had the same exact issue my engine was “pressure” seized from leaking gas into my block, drained my oil that was mostly gas at this point , new plugs new oil , new fuel pressure regulator , and she fired up better than before. the crazy part is she’s been struggling to start for the last few months when cold , and this fixed that issue as well.. thanks bro 🙏 thank god i came across this video because the day before that i was set on buying a $1500 engine
Praise God!!!! My 98 Suburban same thing... I pulled my spider injectors out 3 times and paid a mobile mechanic $220 and I was just gonna cut my 98 Suburban loose for $800 til I saw this!!!!
Bro you literally might have saved me 5k. I just put a crate motor in my 99 Obs. Cranked and ran three different time probably a few minutes each time. It ran very rough but I thought it was normal since it was a new motor. It stalled on me and now I can’t turn the motor over with the starter, flywheel or by hand. But since I watched your video, I remember hearing gas pouring into the intake when I primed it the first couple times. Huge life saver brother!
This is why they say to always get acdelco. Granted, spider injectors from them are around 700 bucks compared to FJ504-style chinese spider injectors coming in around 180-200. That's the only reason I haven't done the conversion yet
I just changed my pressure regulator and it's "locked up". I thought I dropped the small oring down inside.. Today going to pull plugs and see if I could figure out which cyl it went down into. If I run into a bunch of gas in one I'll tear it back apart and look at " brand new" regulator again. Thanks.
Hey I do have one question sir, what is the name of that part did you change it? What is exactly the part it’s give you the problem to lock up you engine?
It’s called the fuel pressure regulator. It’s located on the side of spider injection system and it was stuck open. so when the key was turned to the on position. Fuel pump turned on to prime the system and the fuel would dump into the intake to the top of the pistons. This caused the engine to hydro lock.
I’m having a similar issue with my 5.7 I was in the process of doing the head gaskets and I took off the exhaust manifold bolts and left it that way for a few months wasn’t the smartest idea but stuff happens. Anyway my crank won’t spin and i haven’t tried to start it because I’ve taken a bunch off already. I haven’t tried draining the oil yet but idk if that will help I’m worried my valves are rusted in place. I’m gonna try it and see what happens, but is there anything else I can try?
Dude I’m literally in the same situation right now. I installed the updated multi port spider injector just like yours and I’m getting hydrolocked situation just like you. I have to ask where did you buy your MPFI spider injection from or what brand is it? I bought a gp Sorensen from Autozone. Thanks for the video man you have me hope
I actually ordered mine from Amazon just because I was trying to stay on the cheaper end and of course it kind of back fired but the brand is Bicos. But to ensure that the regulator is the issue, remove the upper intake manifold and hook up your battery then turn the key forward but don’t try to start. This will show you if it’s the regulator or not.
No it did not make a grinding noise. Just went to go start it up one day and the engine wouldn’t turn over. And that’s when I found gas all in the engine due to fuel regulator going bad.
So with grind noise and all did you get yours to run yet? I forgot to pull my fuel pump rely when turning over without spark plugs in... ive had mine apart 4 or 5 times already. Ugh
That's what happen to mines I think our engine just fucked yo guys like a nasty grinding noise where the flywheel won't turn anymore I think mines is done did you guys figure it out?
Is the engine turning over? If not then check the oil and make sure you don't smell gas. If you smell gas and dip stick shows way over full. Engine could be hydro-locked. You will need to do an oil change.
He said cause this little part went bad Never said what that little bad boy that went bad was? The actual name of the part you are pointing to... *That might help the tip be informative useful information*
I had that happened to me i 😢 i freaked out but i have a 94 chevy c1500 5.7 throttle body tbi i rebuilt was doing fine then it started flooding over had a weird noise coming from the injectors put air cleaner to see were it was coming from then noticed it just pouring fuel outa the injectors then i tred start it it tryed then lock up i was like oh hell no i was freaking out then i pulled fan shald off and pulled all the plugs and gas just pourd out then i cranked it by hand with a wrench and it broke free plus i dumped alittle tranny fluid in each of the plug holes think goodness i didnt change oil yet
