“Nothing even close to buying/selling Pokémon exists in the actual games” *I gamble all my money away to buy a porygon* 👀 yeah, nothing like that exists!
technically, we can still buy pokemon from the game corner (although we are using the coins instead of the pokedollars but hey, you can buy coins using pokedollars in some of the games anyway)
Having a set amount of TP (sometimes called MP instead) for special moves/spells is a common feature in RPGs like Final Fantasy and the Tales series. So having that as a feature makes sense, especially if they were originally going for more of a traditional RPG at first.
I'm sure it's pretty possible to code in high-quality anime cries of pokemon in nowadays games, but that will cause another problem: Tons of pokemon have different cries in different languages because Pokemon cries are based on their names, which varies through language. This makes sense that why only Pikachu and Eevee have this treatment nowadays, not only because they are the let's go mascots, but also their names aren't really changed through translation.
@@rainfallen7574 That is actually similar enough. If you don't know, Eevee's Japanese name is pronounced "Eee-boo-eee". The cry of its name should be corrupted enough to fit in a bunch of languages.
Just look up some other pokemon names. At least this is not something that sounds totally different in different languages. Like Greninja is called Gekkouga in Japanese, you cannot use one corrupted cry to fit both languages.
Only 30 Pokemon?! Just imagine... the starters and their Evolutions (9), Pikachu and Raichu (11), Dratini and its Evolutions (14), Gastly and its Evolutions (17), the 5 Legendary's (22), Hitmon's (24), Clefairy and Clefable (26), Eevee and its 3 Evolutions, (30)! That's so weird to think about... such a limit to the 15 types of Gen 1.
Well we likely either wouldn't have evolutions or there would be no 3 form evolutions. Rhydon was the first Pokemon every designed so Rhyhorn would likely have never been made and the middle forms for all Pokemon would be cut or would replace the base form. That still would be crazy limited and a totally different game and would probably have meant that some types would get cut like merging Bug & Grass as well as Water & Ice also Rock & Ground
y'know, you've got me thinking now - Legends Arceus is gonna be the first main series game that stands on its own, and *seems* to be including new Pokémon, and i'm wondering if this is Game Freak returning to the original "Illusory Monsters" format
Yeah there's been no indication or confirmation that there'd be new pokemon. Sure it would make sense to have new forms of pokemon based on ancient designs but that's just fan wishing/hoping. I'm not saying there wont be new designs, because there totally could be, but there's no evidence so far.
Tell ya what, having a stock exchange where you can buy and sell Pokemon with their values actually fluctuating based on cities and world events sounds pretty rad.
Oof, those Pokémon Yellow cries are... *rough* 😰 hearing _that_ cacophony shoot out of my GBC speakers would have *definitely* scared the actual hell out of me when I was a kid lol
im kinda intrested in reading that biographic manga, anyone know where i can find the translated version, all i can find of it are sites talking about taking a closer look at the details
11:31 the closest we got to selling pokemon were those quests in SM, where someone asked you to catch a pokemon and show it to them for money. Edit: Guys I know that we can buy them but prior to SM when was the last time we catch them for plain old money?
I am so glad they were not able to implement the anime cries. I hate that concept of them saying their names over and over instead of making sounds that actually make sense. I don't mind giving Pikachu and Eevee a pass, since they are Pikachu and Eevee, but having all/most of them doing it? No way.
This is my very first video I've seen from you, I was recommended your channel by a friend of mine cause him and I REALLY love Pokemon, and I don't regret coming on here, this video is fantastic, the editing, the mic quality is great! You got yourself a sub!
Not sure if it was mentioned in the comments, but the TP thing falls inline with what Satoshi said about Pokémon being a more traditional RPG, as I would believe TP stands for Technique Points, which will be more akin to something like Final Fantasy's MP, I'm guessing each Pokémon would have techniques(moves) they can learn, along with a regular attack, with the regular attack using no TP
I think the only way Pokemon could have ever worked with only 30 of them would be that evolution didn't exist. If every first generation evolution line was only a one Pokemon it wouldn't be too far off from 30.
There is a Fan game that takes place years before Red's adventure Pokemon: The First Journey Set with Pre-release Red and Blue themes like how Pokemon aren't called Pokemon yet And Pokemon can be bought with money
I actually prefer Pikachu's original cry, a kind of electric "chu!" sound, at least in the games. I wish there was an option to change Pikachu's cry to the original in current games if you want to, the anime based cry just sticks out compared to the regular game based cries.
In regards to what Green, Red, and Blue would have been like on the lower storage cartridges, this what I can imagine the lineup would have been like (30): Rhyhorn (the first Pokemon ever completed) Pikachu (mascot) Clefairy (competed for mascot title) Clefable Squirtle Blastoise Bulbasaur Venusaur Charmander Charizard Nidoking Nidoqueen Muk Gengar Dragonite Eevee Flareon Vaporeon Butterfree Venomoth Hypno Alakazam Dewgong Porygon Arcanine Vileplume Fearow Pidgeot Hitmonlee Machamp Although I will say this. While no doubt there would have been Pokemon that would have stayed on the cutting room forever or would go through drastic design changes in order to be part of their own family evolution line (like Wartortle), however, others would have been able to still make it in via generation 2 or even generation 3 (as the case with Scissor and Tyranitar).
Yes Sugimori said that about a possible fourth evolution however in the same interview you also have Masuda saying he has no interest in it. Apparently in all those years nothing had changed. Even though Masuda is not as involved as he was before.
Honestly, I am glad that the anime cries were restricted primarily to Pikachu and Eevee in the long run for mainline Pokemon games. While I know Lucario can talk in Super Smash Bros and Mewtwo sounds more human like there, however, that is a different series all together.
Illusory Pokemon could theoretically work these days if you made them different enough from Legendary Pokemon. However, it would have been such a nightmare to implement for the first two or even three generations.
The thing where TP uses a certain number of points for an attack vs 1 per turn, or more when pressure is an ability on the field, is a remnant from the programmers experience in the Mother series. Most of Game Freak worked in Ape Inc with Mother and Mother 2/Earthbound and maybe Mother 3 where greater power PSI moves used larger amounts of PP forcing players to battle conservatively when level grinding. Thankfully Pokémon did away with greater PP consumption since the game play was less linear and one could go back to old routes and caves to grind where as in Mother going back to previous areas either resulted in no opponents to fight,(mother) fearful opponents that fled you and auto wins when encountered(Earthbound), or just plain no way to go to past areas once new chapters of the story have been entered(Mother 3).
Fourth stage evolution did technically happen as mega evolution. In fact, they probably decided to make fourth forms temporary, evolving into what would be introduced with X&Y. Speaking of... Mega evolution >>> Dynamaxing and Gigamaxing Although, I will admit I once drew up a hypothetical fourth stage evolution for the Mudkip line.
I would love a pokemon game where you could buy and sell pokes 🤔. Imagine a facility in the battle frontier where you could use battle points to buy auto generated pokes. The price would be determined by it's species, but also it's IV's, abilities and if it had egg moves. And it only has a few species available at first, but as you sell your pokemon their species get added to the available roster. I really wish we had that back then
I could have sworn that it was iwata who gifted the cartridges with larger memory. Gary/green is called Shigeru due to miyamoto being a constant roadblock to taijiri, wasnt he? I swear if they are spitting on iwata's grave just to try to polish miyamoto's warp pipe even more i'll lose my sh*t.... someone please correct me. Because i only have so much patience for the amount of polishing miyamoto has been getting since iwata's death.
The TP system would’ve worked the exact same way Bros Attacks work in the Mario + Luigi titles. I know Dream Team, Bowser’s Inside Story and the BIS remake use Bros Attacks. (Although BIS calls them Special Attacks. Apparently the BIS remake changed the name back). Luiginary Attacks from Dream Team also work the same way as Bros Attack. FYI to anyone who hasn’t played any Mario + Luigi title and/or Dream Team: Luiginary Attacks are for the Dream world in Dream Team. The Luigi that appears in the Dream World is the dream world version of Luigi’s brother. The Dream World battles also work very different to the battles outside the Dream world.
If they start giving Pokémon 4th stage evolution the first one they should debut is... Gorochu!!! It should be that Pikachu evolves into Raichu using a thunderstone like normal, and Raichu evolves into Gorochu using a Firestone and have it be fire/electric type. Now that would be sick!!!
only reason you may like the idea of 'very rare' instead of 'exclusive' pokemons is because you dont want to communicate with people for trade =), you would like to hope to grind it out. and 4th stage evolution is bad idea too, because final forms olready have too many spikes and look too bisy, but i would prefer alternative variant: 2.1, 2.2 & 3.1 ... 3.4 instead of introduced IV EV, because 1st gym leader at any generation would not get any benefits from 4th stage, but spliting pokemons would give some points to variety
The tp mechanic would be interesting to see make a comeback. Maybe you can have up to 8 moves for a Pokemon, but only 4 don't cost any tp. Also buying and selling Pokémon I don't see an issue with, could be a way to make a breeder a way to play the game without having the need to battle anyone.... Maybe for a future game that has more than one profession as an option.
Six moves per Pokemon. 2, maybe 3, toggled as "focal moves" that have a TP cost-reduction. Or with each level, you can reduce the TP cost of a known move by some amount (say 5 TP) and/or redistribute the allotted TP-reductions. Following from that, "leveling up" the moves themselves. So, like "Special Fire-type Move" begins at 30 base-power and TP-20. You gain a level, and can increase the base-power by 10 while the TP increases by 5. So it's a 40-power/ TP-25 move. Next level, 50-power/TP-30 move. Next level, take a TP reduction so it's 50-power/TP-25 move. Next level, add "Status Chance", say 5% or 10% Burn. Maybe options while "leveling" to jump into a new move, of Type and Stat with the core of 30-BP/TP-20 until subsequent modifications.
The illusory concept wouldve been better. If they gave us unique mons that took 2 hrs to get, Id go for it. even more than a 4th evo stage what about a 5th move?
The TP mechanic sounds like what Temtem use now for their moves. If you use to much it will hurt your Temtem, which gave it a risk vs reward system. Plus farming is much easier.
Title : absolutly wild things that almost got included in pokemon" 8:00 posibility of 4th form evolution -> makes a big deal about it -> bings up mega forms -> drops the bomb that sugimori's quote was from gen 4 -> reality sets in -> clearly he was foreshadowing mega evolutions -> for some reason includes it in the video about things that ALMOST got included......IT DID...4th FOMS GOT MADE......bruh talkin bout scrapin the bottom of the barrel for video ideas lmao
The two version mechanic and the necessary trading has always been the worst part of Pokemon. And an RPG Pokemon is what we all want... Look up Pokemon Godra.
