Quick note! This vid is NOT meant to be a "Best of" list. I think all these bands are amazing, but there are, as many of you have pointed out, a metric ton of other excellent all-female Metal outfits (some of whom will show up in the next vid I make about this topic). Thanks to everyone for watching and commenting! 🤘
I wouldn't call The Warning metal, but I would call them awesome. They've got it all: world class drummer, singer, and bass player, plus the drummer can deliver world class vocals, and their stage presence is off the fucking charts.
Yeah, I agree on all counts. They do dip their toes ever so slightly into metal territory sometimes with their breakdowns (especially in the latter sections of Evolve), and I think if they wanted to go in that direction more they could do it well.
I wouldn’t call them metal either. But 1 genre classification isn’t an exact science. 2 as someone who’s a fan of rock in general (the superset of metal, hard, soft, prog rock...) What matters to me is whether I like it or not!

Thanks for commenting! You're the second person to recommend Plush: I'll have to check them out. And DOROTHY is an unusual, appealing force! Is she Metal or Heavy Rock/Blues? Either way, I'm a fan! 🤘
Well all great suggestions so I'll throw one in "The Sixsters Band" Ukraine very young not really metal more punk rock but there young songs vary greatly they will surprise you!! And love the "Warning" been a fan for along time think i saw there TED talks first.
Nemophila and The Warning are definitely bands that deserve attention. Once you go down The Warning's rabbit hole, you'll have a better understanding of just how good they are. Their back story is incredible. Thanks for covering them; great commentary!

I've been loving pretty much everything that The Warning and Nemophila put out. Pau's vocals for The Warning are not to be missed, they are very good live. I've seen them twice, and intend on catching them every chance I can. Everyone in Nemphila can stand on their own in talent. Awesome stuff!
In my opinion, which surely not all have to agree, The Warning is not strictly a metal band. All the aforementioned bands have their own musical mastery, but in the case of The Warning, their musical offer is much richer, they are their own musical genre. The above, combined with the quality of their non-trivial lyrics and their ability to use the voice as another instrument of the band and transmit deep emotions, make them my favorite band among those mentioned.

Can't get enough of LOVEBITES, The Warning , and Nemophila. Love Burning Witches too. I know of Cobra Spell, but have yet to dive in fully. But I have seen Noelle do reaction videos on her channel to bands including The Warning and LOVEBITES.
Thanks for commenting! There's not a lot to know about Cobra Spell yet, since they've released only a couple of EP's, but I'm looking forward to their full-length album this year. Yeah, Noelle's vids are adorable! 🤘
Lovebites not only does Power/Speed Metal, they also do a fair amount of Thrash and they do it as well as any band, male or female. Guitarists Miyako and Midori are one of the best guitar duos in the business, as Noelle from Cobra Spell found out when she reacted to one of their videos. If you want to go real heavy (Death Metal) then Crypta would be the go to band out of Brazil.
Never was too big into metal, always seen it has very harsh music performed by man in black... My world completely flipped upside down when I discovered Lovebites a few years ago, which are the complete opposite. After that they led me to discover the whole japanese metal scene, which is filled with talent, discipline and originality.
Dany describes The Warning's music as "pure rock and roll", though without a doubt, they have drawn in metalheads around the world! I consider them to be their own unique genre.

Aren't they, though? I remember when any girl band, no matter how talented, was dismissed by the hardcore metal crowd as just "girls." Times have changed for the better! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘
Most of these bands are a bit heavier than I enjoy, but the Warning is just right. They are exactly the sound I look for when it comes to Rock. I don't really consider them Metal, but more hard Rock with varying other Genres thrown in. They've become my favorite Band currently. I have respect for everyone on this video though. I do love Women who can Rock.

These girls and many others are the best it could happen to rock and metal. I'm a mad fan of The Warning. Anyone that attend one of their concerts will notice that the fans range from boys and girls as young as 6 (my daugther included, hehehe) to grandpas with white beards and big bellies but who are yelling their guts out as if they were 23 again. Only truly exceptional musicians can do that.

The Warning have a tight sound and very interesting drummer. She sings and keeps the pulse of the band running from the start of there set till the end. Small or Large venue they provide raw energy. I like them. Keep it up sisters.
Thanks for watching & commenting! I had no idea what an outsized response The Warning would get when I put them on the list, but it's gratifying to see that neither their gender nor their age is keeping away listeners!🤘
Pau herself has argued that it's Ale who keeps the pulse and pulls her back when she starts to go off the rail. She calls her sister a "human metronome". That doesn't take anything away from Pau being the genius musician and fire cracker she is. But credits where credits are due. :-)
@@wolfgangwalk337 Ale and Pau provide great support to the beast of a front woman they have that is Dany. With a front woman like that, the band will definitely go places. Dany runs full on passion and you can't tame that much passion. People will notice it and you will reach the ultimate heights.

The warning is more rock than metal, it is appreciated that they have included it in this video, I think the warning is the most versatile band here, they range from metal to ballads although the vast majority of their songs are rock, The warning is my favorite band 😎🤘
Lovebites is just as versatile. They play soft ballads, rock, hard rock, progressive metal, thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, and NWOBHM style metal as well. Their songs usual combine elements of many of these styles. They also have the multi instrumentalist Miyako who plays classical pieces on piano as well as she can play guitar. So in my opinion Lovebites is the most versatile metal band I have ever seen.
@@ChadTheDragonLord Interesting, I did not know that they were so versatile lovebites, I got to hear a couple of lovebit songs and I did not catch my attention, maybe I chose the wrong songs I will give them a second chance to see if I like their band, if it is as you say they would be even more versatile than the warning if they do it as well as the warning, recommend me the best 5 songs that are of different genres and as I will listen
@@ChadTheDragonLord I agree. Lovebites is the most versatile band on here hands down. I haven't listened to much of any of these besides Lovebites & Nemophila, but I guarantee Love bites could play every song by The Warning, I don't think the reverse would be true.
@@ChadTheDragonLordHammer of wrath, dancing with the devil, burden of time, epilogue, signs of deliverance It‘s hard to cover all with only 5, maybe these could also work, without knowing someone’s preferences
Im a big lovebites fan and im not goin to say they are better than the other bands. i have heard all of them, every one its difrent but great on what they do. i just recommend people to give themselves the time to listen to a few songs from all this 5 bands to appreciate more their music

These are some great bands. I definitely think Bandmaid belongs in this group. Here to give Burning Witches some love as I have been a fan for a few years. Not sure I would call The Warning metal. But they are a phenomenal live act and the most likely to be headlining a stadium show in 5 years.
Could mention a lot of Japanese bands. First would be Hanabie. Depends how strict you want to be with 'band'. Do metal Idol Groups count? If so then Babymetal should be at the top.
@@Jordan-Ramses Band Maid is a self proclaimed Hard rockin maid band, But Hanabie is definitely metal and belongs on the list! I see The Warning as more of a hard rock band.
On The Warning: Pau (drummer and lead songwriter) has described their songs as pop melody with metal instrumentation, a simplification but a starting point. With them them song is more important than solos, and the bass is much more central to the sound than in a lot of metal, and Ale at 18 is already world class.
You did not mention Vixen when you named 70s and 80s female bands. They had a big hit in the 80s with Edge of a Broken Heart. They are the only all female band that I saw in concert. I also went to a Heart and a Doro concert. There is an all female band that has been around since the 80s called SHOW-YA. They are still around and are a big influence to NEMOPHILA and other Japanese metal bands. I also like Band-Maid, Aldious and Trident. LOVEBITES is my favorite metal band. Best five musicians in a metal band. Their fan base is called the Wolf Pack. 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
If I were to make a list of the five most important all female metal bands today it would definitely be an international list - Lovebites (Japan), Nemophila (Japan), Crypta (Brazil), Slave To Sirens (Lebanon) and Voice of Baceprot (Indonesia) with Honorable Mention going to Hanabie (Japan). Band-Maid (Japan) and The Warning (Mexico) would make a hard rock list as well as Plush (USA). I also want to mention the pioneering Japanese all female metal group Show Ya which started way back in 1981 and is led by the amazing Keiko Trada. In my opinion there are two Queens of Metal - Doro Pesch and Keiko Terada. The two ladies respect each other greatly and have worked together recently.

@@MetalProfessor65 I watched the video with great interest and left a comment. I look forward to Part 2 about Queen of the Murder Scene and Error. I am much more familiar with those two albums.
The Warning, but much respect and all my support to the other women bands, they are really kicking a$$ in the scene, Plush is also making good noise and so on!
Some great bands here, excellent video. The Warning are my personal favourites here, Dany is is doing such a multitude of roles, lead vocal, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and front lady - she really does work the crowd, so she doesn't have a lot of space for solo's. The band focus on short high energy songs, they don't stand still long enough to do a solo 🙂

Lovebites has elite talent across the board with every band member. Midori and Miyako are among the greatest metal guitar duos of all time already IMO. Lovebites won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band in 2018. They also play thrash metal in a style similar to Slayer and Testament. They are a multi metal genre band.
@@MetalProfessor65Plush was one of the Warning’s opening acts during their US 2023 tour. They played a couple of covers but mostly their own stuff. Pau, from the Warning, is a better lyricist.

Lovebites is amazing. I just saw Nemophila when they blew the roof off of the venue in Roseville, California on their first U.S. tour. While I'm not big on The Warning, the other two bands are new to me and I'll check them out. Thanks for the new info!
Lovebites. They're all I need if I was to pick one band(any gender band). 56yo metal musician who spent the late 80s pursuing rock stardom in Los Angeles, and have worshipped the likes of Priest, Queensryche, Motorhead since my teens. They are without peers as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for watching & commenting! (58yo former rockstar wannabe here, too ✊) Lovebites are one of the most pleasant surprises I've heard in years. Quick anedcote: about 18 months ago I had an interview scheduled with Liliac (who are super talented, IMHO), but their manager was so pleasant and not at all condescending (that's some heavy irony, BTW) that I canceled the interview. "This sucks," I said to my wife. "They're the only new band that I really like." THEN--thanks in no small part to Vlad, the Metal Pilgrim ( @MetalPilgrim )--I was exposed to Burning Witches, and suddenly I was seeing amazing new bands all over the place. 🤘
I'm a huge fan of The Warning, Lovebites and most of all Nemophila. I saw Nemophila live in March and before that at Aftershock. I absolutely LOVE them! Saki was in a huge band before Mary's Blood called Destrose as was Haruna and original bassist Miho of Lovebites.

My favorite is The Warning. Seen them live 3 times, outstanding live band. However in my opinion they would place them in rock to hard rock. You do have my two favorites up on your list. My second favorite is Nemophila. I have to see them someday, like you I’m not getting any younger. Next list please.

Japan at the moment seems to be the land of the rising all female metal/rock bands. There are 100+ all female bands out there, many of whom you'll never hear of. Show-Ya who have been around since the 80's and are still going, with a hiatus in the middle, where the one to kick start it all. Aldious are credited with rekick starting it all. Then there is Destrose, who have split (hiatus) who can credit with having so many bands come about from members like Mary's Blood, Lovebites and many more, I think it's around 30 bands can credit members that went though Destrose.
That's interesting! I'm thinking about a video specifically re: the Japanese all-female Metal situation, so I appreciate the info. Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘
Lovebites is the band here that more people need to pay attention to. They play more or less every kind of classic metal, pretty much as well as anyone you can name. Anyone who's a fan of any 80s metal band needs to check them out.

I get lost with all these labels and people wanting to pigeonhole artist into 1 or 2 categories. I love that The Warning has 2-3 songs in their 14 track album that I do not consider Metal, 2 of them sung by Pau, the drummer and main lyricist. Whatever categories you want to place these girls in, you will likely have to make adjustments later, they have a wide range of inspiration and they will continue to try new things. Either way they are a very talented trio.
Nicely put! Categorizing things is an innate human trait (originally linked to survival), but I too feel that we often get a little ridiculous with it. I'm planning a video about defining Metal in general, and this topic will certainly come up. Thanks for watching! 🤟

What a great selection, I know them all well! Burning witches have been part of my playlist for the past couple of years, Cobra Spell - yeah, I think Sonia is probably a better shredder than Noelle but not by much! The current lineup is definitely the best to date! Lovebites, they’re the most amazing Jap band I’ve seen so far Midori is an animal on the guitar, talk about shredder!!! Mayako is such a talented all round musician! The new bassist Fami is an amazing bassist and Haruna on the drums is 🔥 🔥 🔥, well what can you say about Asami? She’s an incredible singer and really rocks it despite her R&B background! Nemophilia, don’t know all that much about them except that I do like their sound, perhaps I should venture down their rabbit hole! Finally The Warning, OK I’ll be honest - I’ve followed them since 2014 and what a pleasure it’s been seeing them develop into what they are now! Their songwriting never ceases to amaze me, so meaningful and relatable to! Their musicianship has developed from good into amazing, their live performances are something you should see, they to me are better live than on the official videos, they are so connected and driven by the audience and never fail to please! I’m looking forward to your next additions, there may be a few I don’t know about 😜
Thanks so much for watching and for such detailed comments! I'm hoping another video about five more all female bands will be coming out in a week or two. There also will be one about the Japanese all-girl metal scene and another one about the Warning and whether they are hard rock, Metal, or if it even fucking matters since they're so talented! Thanks for watching! 🤟
@@MetalProfessor65 thanks for your comment, I forgot to mention in my enthusiasm - Liked and subscribed, and just out of interest I’m at the moment 71 years young, been catching up with decent music over the past couple of years so know a reasonable selection of artists now and I’m a Rocker and Metal head, but do venture into all sorts of other stuff!
@@DarrellW_UK That is excellent to hear, my friend! (I hit 58 a couple months ago, myself.) I think it's great that we of all ages often can enjoy the same music. As recently as a couple of years ago, I had given up looking for new bands. (I had an interview arranged with Liliac, a young band whom I think are immensely talented, but their manager was such a pain that I canceled the interview rather than spend another minute dealing with that guy.) Then my friend Vlad (whose channel is The Metal Pilgrim) did a video about a handful of new bands, I heard Burning Witches, and it was like a new world--well, okay, maybe a new small continent, or an extensive archipelago--opened up for me. Thanks for subscribing and commenting! 🤘
I'd disagree, my friend: riffs that heavy, so often, aren't heard in hard rock! But obviously you're welcome to your opinion, and I hope it starts some conversation--I'd love to see an actual discussion take off here! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘
@@MetalProfessor65The Warning is totally a rock band. Just because a handful of songs are heavier does not make them metal. Most of their music is NOT. This makes them a rock band.
The Warning has influences from all over the musical map, from metal to pop-Pau, who takes the lead on song writing, is a huge K-pop fan and gets melodic ideas from all over the place. Bassist Ale is a huge Muse fan and also has funk and jazz influences. Dany does play heavy riffs but is into melody a lot more than shredding and often takes after David Gilmour. Pau’s drum god is Neil Peart but also has a lot of Dave Grohl style. So it gets complicated, in a very good way.
Humm, I think "The Warning" is more Hard Rock/Classic Rock than Metal. You could also add ASTERISM and BAND-MAID to this list. If you look at Japan you will find at least 20 amazing all female or female fronted Rock & Metal Bands.
Asterism features an incredible young female guitarist. But, the drummer and bass players are men. Warning is an insanely tight rock band. Possibly the future of Rock Music.
The Warning play what I love. Hard Rock that can shred when it wants or go punk when it's called for. They defy gravity... er... narrow labelling but the one thing it seems like they can't do is write a bad song. 🤘😎👍
Gravity and labelling--physicists conclude that both have existed since the beginning of time, and it's nice to see that some of us aren't bound by the shackles of at least one of them! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘

I discovered LOVEBITES last year. They transcend gender, genre, and geography and won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band and is unusual among Japanese bands in choosing to sing in English. We definitely need to know about more female metal bands😊. The super talented Lovebites are playing in the USA, Spain and France in 2024, maybe more venues to be announced. Midori(‘warrior princess’) and Miyako(‘Greek goddess’ and concert pianist) are two of the finest female metal guitarists in Japan.
The warning entrelasa en generos, pero lo que si es un rock potente, letras con sentido, musica, riffs, voz y coros, definidos y crean un sonido impresionante. Versátil y mi favorita! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hello. Excellent video, Metal Professor. I like The Warning, but without wanting to argue, they have one foot outside of metal or both. Their music is more rock, hard rock if you will, good rock. 🤟🙂
Thanks! And arguing is _good_ ! If we never heard other points of view--even ones we don't agree with--we wouldn't learn anything! So thanks very much for watching the vid & joining the conversation!
Hi Prof. Great video! I've followed Cobra Spell and Burning Witches since both their inceptions and love the work of both. Good choices. I saw The Warning live in May 2023 and was incredibly impressed. I'd consider them more hard rock than metal but, regardless, they are spectacular. Plush is not on your list, but I've seen them live too. I know you've considered Plush in other of your vids. Keep on covering the ever-increasing world of all-female shredders!!

You say that mayu is... a vocalist. If you haven't heard her singing in recent concerts, I guarantee you that she's even better. She clearly improved her scream (and she was already very good). On Monday there is a chance to check it out. Streaming Their 4th Anniversary Concert: NEMOPHILA 4th Anniversary-Rizing NEMO- Comment!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r0TNqjPk16w.html Saki in Mary's Blood earned the nickname Queen of Shredding. With Nemophila, you should always mention Tamu dr. Highly regarded, she is not your typical metal drummer. No wonder since her idols are Dream Theater and Opeth. He also played jazz. She can play very fast (Rice 199bpm) and uses double bass very intelligently.
I didn't forget about Band-Maid, they just didn't show up in this vid, but they will show up in my video about the Japanese all-girl Metal Scene. Thanks so much for watching! 🤟

Fun fact: The Warning is the band to get into if you want a band that will never break up until they are done making music. People inside the music industry know what is possibly coming soon from this band with their talent, drive, passion and dedication to their craft they have nowhere to go but up and are gaining respect from almost every band they play with. I have been a fan of Cobra Spell from day one since I followed Sonia from way back. Noelle can shred it with anyone and her side band Nungara where she sings lead is pretty darn good too.
