I absolutely love the new updates added to A3 Aegis: -The new weapon models fit so well with Arma’s art style, ngl the M4s and AKs looks so natural compared to the RHS and CUP variants, and the way they are name is really similar to how BI named the vanilla weapons so it fits so seamlessly -JCA’s plate carriers, god I love those new Modular plate carrier variants -New vehicles gotta admit I love the superhind they added the textures also fit well with Arma 3 Vanilla I honestly think and hope that BI would get the team behind Aegis to eventually make an official 2035 themed DLC into Vanilla Arma 3 I’ve been dying for more variety outside of CDLCs which not all servers have

its def a hard game to play solo. i have 300 hours in and im finally at the point where i can load in- make a mission thats pretty repetitive- repeat. now just learning how to do more fune and etc missions! but man there is so much!! first 100 hours you will still be impressed. i still do every time. i still got thousands to of hours to do
Hey viper have you ever considered that maybe striving for absolute reality is maybe “detracting” from the overall possible enjoyment you could be having? That maybe reality is not highest level of experience you could be having? But what do I mean by this? Well let’s take a look at arma 2. Arma 2’s aesthetics are built around the camera not having the visual effect of feeling like your actually looking through your eyes (which is arma 3) but it is built around the camera imitating that of an actual camera. The way the lighting changes whether you look at or away from the sun darkening and lightening and many of the visual effects on screen are not “reality”. But yet arma 2’s experience FEELS much more deep and gritty than that of arma 3. What is your thoughts on this? Is reality a false ideal to shoot for which actually takes away from the magic of the experience? Or how do you feel about this idea? Because it seems to me from my time playing arma 3 something is missing. It just feels “flat” and almost lifeless. I don’t deny it definitely feels “real” but it just seems so much less expressionless than what I’d rather the experience to be
Arma is a simulation sandbox, so that means it strides for the highest possible simulation depth in all systems required for being a soldier on any part of the battlefield. Limiting play session time to a reasonable length, for example, is not a factor in the simulation genre. Limiting the number of keybinds to ensure one system doesn't prevent others from having equal depth, however is when it comes Arma because of its breadth of MOSs. In a more cinematic tactical shooter like Insurgency Sandstorm you will see heavy camera effects because that's an important part of the intensity it uses to make you feel like a soldier without needing to simulate every part of it. Arma 2's fake HDR effect was very choppy, though. You could see the individual brightness levels cycling through, and concealing this drained valuable system resources required for draw distance. What's great about Arma of course, is that it's highly customizable, so if you want more cinematic effects you can mod that in. @@icarusgaming6269 absolutely. And I agree. To a much higher degree I agree with the simulation of systems. Aka the mechanics of the game. Moving, shooting, driving. But there is a limit to this aswell. Do I want to poop ingame? Even in a simulation? I don’t think so. But as for aesthetics and the visuals of the game. It seems to me that striving for absolute realism is almost “boring”. Life is life and if I want to experience it all I have to do is look outside. That is reality. And reality has no “tone”, “atmosphere” or “emotional expression” to it. IT just IS. That’s it. Blank. Full stop. Is that what we want in the game? Or is this ideal of reality as the highest pursuit dragging us back from having those REALLY AWESOME moments that were given to us in arma 2 but feel lacking in arma 3? I don’t think so. I think something MASSIVE is being lost when in the aesthetics/graphics department we simply insert reality as it is instead of like the stylized artistic recreation of reality we got in arma 2. It FEELS deeper. More connective and almost MORE REAL than real life somehow. I think we need to rethink this obsession over realism in atleast aestethics because I think it is actually detracting from our overall EXPERIENCE of the game instead of enhancing it
@@WhoIsJohnGaltt Individual functions required for being a human being are not a unique part of being a soldier and therefore don't require simulation, although there are some missions where you'll need survival mechanics to make them work as intended That's called hyper-reality, and it's very effective in film because it bridges the gap between how our eyes literally perceive the world and how we remember it in our minds. Many games use film techniques such as hyper-reality to disguise the smoke and mirrors required to create their fantasies: The waves of respawning troops because it can't handle enough units to place an actual company, the linear paths between houses to ensure you follow your objective to the letter. Sim games characteristically have none of these, so the intensity you feel by making as many life or death decisions as an actual soldier is *real.* They don't need fake effects to sell the fantasy. When it comes to warfare, there's also a lot of identifying tiny clumps of pixels hundreds of meters away as threats that's hard enough already without flashy effects getting in the way, to say nothing of the performance costs that a lot of those mods incur. Also being a soldier is sometimes boring, which is why sim games struggle to stay interesting in singleplayer. You need some buddies to goof off with like soldiers do during the downtime since enjoying the atmosphere is usually out of the question
@@icarusgaming6269 very interesting I actually found the arma 2 campaign to be very interesting. But yet I found the arma 3 one none at all. It didn’t have the same EMOTIONAL IMPACT or INCITING, arma 2 did even though arma 3’s situation was more action packed it still missed the mark for me. One other thing I wanted to bring because you mentioned it here is that “the game doesn’t need fancy effects to sell the fantasy because IT IS REAL”. I don’t agree with this. I have actually noticed THE OPPOSITE effect taking place as the game has dropped all fantasy elements and effects and become closer and closer to reality in how it looks. In arma 3 it’s like because it is, and I won’t deny this, VERY REAL. Especially in how it looks because of how the lighting is simulated it is like you have ACTUAL eyes vs arma 2 where your eyes are basically a camera. But because of this and how REAL it actually is I am actually taken out of it even more. Because I take a step back, realize I’m looking at a computer screen and I am almost “restored” that this IS NOT reality. I know this isn’t really real and thus I know there are no real consequences thus I take it less real But when I take the look of arma 2 this phenomenon does not happen to me. Because it is not simulating reality AS IT IS to the letter and it is a recreation of reality to the impression of a camera. Which I think the inspiration was combat camera footage from the 2000’s Iraq. My brain almost says “this isn’t entirely real, BUT IT COULD BE”. To which I even more invested and inserted into whatever is happening because IT FEELS REAL but I am not certain that it isn’t. Where arma 3 I absolutely know this is not reality because the borders of monitor tell me so. So this is why I think “realism” at least this version of realism we are getting in games. Especially arma 3 is actually working against us. Because our brain knows “this is not real” where if we throw in the fantasy and the effects and dress it up and but it’s like our brain almost believes “this might be” and the allows us to slip deeper into the game
@@WhoIsJohnGaltt Yeah, I think you're looking for a different experience than what sim games usually offer. Me and my friend have been writing about this, and we use a *lot* of the same language you did to describe tactical games we enjoy that make their fantasy believable through different methods

The project wingman mod reminded me of a mod that makes flying in Arma 3 more Ace combat like with more missiles and being able to repair your plane in flight. It makes it more "Arcade like". Does anyone know the mod name? I can't find it in the vast ocean on the steam workshop.
Every time i come back to Arma i have to stop here, great video as always!Does anyone know a mod that fixes the ai insane accuracy ? Its the long range one shot deaths that makes me uninstall the game after a week😅
