Great post as always. I began my exploration of warm weather fragrances the end of 2020 and have fallen in love with them (my preference remains heavy, robust cold weather niche fragrances). 40 Knots was one of my first warm fragrances and I absolutely adore it…one of the few fragrances in my collection for which I will definitely purchase a back-up-bottle…I could wear it EVERY DAY! ♥️♥️♥️ I purchased Megamare this year thanks, in part, to your review. I’ve only worn it twice but, like 40 Knots, it was love at first sniff. Now, Spirit of Dubai has been on my radar since January 2022 BUT I could not fathom where to begin. Thanks to your review, I think that I will begin with Baha. Thanks 🙏🏾

Hey Lee, yep I would test out 40 Knots. As you can see from a lot of the comments in this thread, there are many that disagree that 40 Knots should be in this line up....but as I mentioned, I wanted to bring a complex style of marine to the conversation and one that is really worlds apart from ADG.....I have a feeling you'll like this one. Pacific Rock moss is amazingly good! I bought both PRM and Bohemian lime this summer and both have massive dents already. Really good stuff. My number one aquatic fragrance right now is Roja Oceania, it is really rounded and is more versatile than other ambergris frags. It is summer in a bottle. Good video as always. Keep it up!

Hi Marcelo, great video. I never tried any goldfield and banks offering so far. Bahar is a masterpiece, 40 knots is more than masterpiece haha. Virgin island water has great opening, but dries down horribly on my skin :(

Hello Marcelo and thanks for a review of aquatics which have always been a favorite of mine. I was a big Nautica and Nautica Blue fan while still in my pharmacy phagrance phase. While that stuff still puts a smile on my face I haven't purchased a bottle in years. Glad to see Creed's Virgin Island Water here which is one of my summer mainstays along with Erolfa and Millesime Imperial. As I've said before, I'm also a fan of House of Sillage N.003. It's beast mode with maritime sage, volcanic rock accord, black pepper. Over time the fragrance morphs into something more woody without losing it's oceanic bearing. I have to sample what you've listed here, especially 40 Knotts by Xerjoff which sounds intriguing. And Megamare by Orto Parisi is also on my list as well. Aquatic smellers...wish I could wear them year round. Oh for the record, one day I wore HOS N.003 on a hyper-cold winter day and still got almost eight hours out of it. That one is a monster. Thanks again for the review and everything else you do here. While your channel is criminally underrated, I do believe your subscribed membership times the people who actually watch your videos are out of proportion! A 10k membership is in your future...

Great to hear from you Fred and I love that I've hit a bullseye with this 'Aquatic' conversation....I've had a lot of great comments come in on this topic and some awesome recommendations from a lot of Subscribers. I need to up my game and start testing new ones and even re-visit past loves (like EROLFA). I appreciate your constant support and encouragement (you're the Mickey to my Rocky..."yes, I can do it coach!!!"). Even though, I have my eye on the prize (working to increase my subscriber base); I'm making sure not to lose sight of the fun that I'm having and remind my self that building anything good takes time ("the law of the harvest"....you have to let things time to grow). The Creed I would identify as the best, most quintessential, marine/oceanic scent is easily EROLFA. In fact it is the greatest marine/oceanic scent ever, imo. It's a near photorealistic Mediterranean sea spray in the face. Millesime Imperial is a sibling with the salty sea spray turned down and fruits turned up. Virgin Island Water, as you say, is the island beach next to the water. Roja Oceania is nice, but imo is more of a fresh, ozonic after-the-rain petrichor of the deck of the marina before heading out to sea. Aqua di Gio is, imo, much more ozonic than aquatic. Scented air. Oceanic/Marine genre: Creed EROLFA > everything else

Totally agree...Erolfa amazing best realistic marine fragrance... imho ... followed ( althoug different syles) by Megamare; Ocean Leather ; 40Knots . Oceania on my skin is Elysium with more citrus (in italy more expensive than amouage :365€!! .. crazy ..) . my 2 cents

Loving the content, only discovered a week ago. For summer I love Albatross by House of Matriarch but only get 3-4 hours from it on my skin, but for 3-4 hours it’s phenomenal

Marcelo, love your picks as always. Always excited to see you pop up on my feed. I know I am going to learn about some fragrances I have not smelled. The only one I am familiar with ( have actually worn) in this lot is VIW. I am thinking about buying Otremare for daily office wear and I am curious about Bahar. Would you agree Otremare is appropriate for daily wear and do you think Bahar is versatile enough to use for the same?

Awesome to hear from you Larry; always love to hear from you mate. Knowing your work environment I would strongly recommend Oltramare; this would be perfect. The sillage is good but not over the top in a closed work environment. I wouldn't recommend Bahar for your work. It does have some musk notes in the base that might be overpowering in a closed environment and might be too much for some people. However as a fragrance that you wear on an outting or going out in Summer, it's magic. This projects beautifully and has a wonderful sillage trail. And yes, Bahar works well all year round Good luck Larry👊🏼

You have an awesome nose Mike. For me the opening is so bright with all that citrus, that I'm not getting anything but citrus/fruit, then 20-30 mins later the other facets begin to evolve....its a great perfume and good on you for owning this one (not many people are onto this brand yet) you're ahead of the curve mate!

Bonjour et bravo, belle vidéo! For summer and not only I wear Acqua Di Gio Profondo by Giorgio Armani, a perfume that suits me perfectly. I really like perfumes with fresh and marine notes, citrus too. The perfumes of your list I do not know them, still perfumes to test 👍

Yes, Acqua Di Gio is a classic all year round fragrance that just makes you happy☀️ I have Fico di Amalfi in my collection from Acqua di Parma and I totally love this one! If you like fig in your fragrance, then this is a wonderful fresh vibrant summer fig fragrance. I haven't had the chance to really test out the others in this range, so can't really share any deep thoughts, but I do know that they are popular. Once again, wonderful to hear from you @Classic style

Well 40 Knots is a interesting one. For me it is 98% Ambre Nuit of Dior but without this Rose note and this matter changes the whole experience a lot. Still I do not really consider it a Aquatic fragrance for summer… but good for warmer spring and automn days

I haven’t had the chance to comment as of late but you’ve been putting out some really nice content lately! Out of your list, 3 are treasures in my collection…I sampled 40 knotts about 4 years ago but at the time it was a pass for me so perhaps it’s time to revisit. I have never sampled Oltramare but sounds interesting enough to give it a shot. I also wanted to mention that the other summer fragrance from The Spirit of Dubai called Abraj is pretty darn good too! ✌️

I would be interested in your thoughts once you get a chance to spray 40 Knots and see if this has changed for you....I find that over time my nose evolves and I can enjoy earlier perfumes that didn't resonate with me (like Megamare from Orto Parisi!) I would strongly recommend Oltramare...this is an instant winner. Hey James....40 Knotts is a different experience to EROLFA. 40K is deep, spicy, powdery, woody with marine qualities at the end. As you know EROLFA is fruity, bright, aromatic, salty. The good news is that you're not doubling up on a scent profile. Both fragrances will bring their own magic.....once you get 40K I'd be interested in your thoughts on this one

Hi! I am subscribed because I can tell you have great taste! Can you mention if fragrances lean masculine or feminine in your videos? It's so helpful to know if ladies can pull them off. I am all about unisex, but some just smell pure manly to me, and in that case, I don't go for them. :)

Welcome Claudia! So good to be connected🙌🏽 My view on perfumery is more on "what do you like in a smell?" I recognise that there are some perfume notes that are stronger and we then catergorise these as 'masculine' or softer floral and they are catergorised as 'feminine'.....but in truth this is subjective. I have female friends that love really heavy woody notes and some men who love floral perfumes....but yes, I do understand your question. So what resonates with you? If you let me know what kind of perfume notes you enjoy in a fragrance, I would love to share some recommendations. Off the bat in this line up, I would recommend Oltramare. This has a wonderful balance of citrus, florals and aquatic musk that can work on both a man or a woman (my wife loves wearing this one) Thanks Claudia, wonderful to hear from you🧡👊🏼

Absolutely love 40 Knots! Going to blind buy Pacific Rock Moss based on this, I’ve seen it come up several times but I trust your nose. If you like Creed VIW you might like Ozone by ATH.

I’m yet to come across someone that PRM doesn’t resonate with….but like I always mention, it’s always best to test first (I would hate for you to be that first person that this doesn’t work on😣)….thanks for the recommendation on Ozone! It has a familiar profile but there’s something special about it and I’m looking forward to wearing it a few more times to get to know it better. I used 10ml of pacific rock moss and never smelled anything strongly mossy. Some days it was just what i needed but most days it just smelled synthetically sweet to me. Maybe I don't fully understand it yet.

What do you think of amoorood wet rock? i'm about to blind buy it...if not i'll go for euphony intense by parfums vintage. My first choice would be Juniper Bonsai by oryn house but it's so pricy....check this one i know it's still under the radar

In truth there's so many great aquatic fragrances out there and it was tough limiting to only 5 for this episode. I LOVE Wet Stone! I have reviewed this one before. I know that BAHAR from the spirit of dubai is categorized as a niche fragrance but can we compare it to HAWAS from Rasasi which is a fresh, fruity, aquatic fragrance, I mean in terms of freshness, bcs both of them are from middle east! And the notes are the same Apple, plum, watery notes ect!

Both in terms of scents and quality, they have nothing in common. Spirit of Dubai is based on premium ingredients and do not try to emulate other products.

Sel Marin ( Heeley) smells like seashore, Un Air De Bretagne (L'artisan parfumeur) is like a sea breeze, and Imagination (LVs) is sea water itself.

Whoa! On me this lasts quite a while! Out of interest, when you're wearing this fragrance, can others smell it on you after the hour? I know that sometimes we can go 'nose blind' to a fragrance. Would love to know how this goes for you. Great to hear from you @Da Brzo

If it's coming from overseas and the box is left out sitting on the tarmac in high heat for hours waiting to be loaded on a plane, then yeah, this is going to affect it....but my gut feel is that this might not happen often. Could you purchase from a local retailer? This will also provide you with a money guarantee that if something isn't right with the perfume you could return it...? I think it would be fine. I would mainly be concerned if it was coming from the Middle East around those areas

Yes but more of a mix of aquatic, fruit, citrus, and woody. Like orto parisi, it doesn’t have labels or description of the fragrance. It’s up to you to decide.

So good to hear from you @Lorenzo Del Gaudio👊🏼 Acqua di Sale is a masterpiece! But, I am yet to include this in my collection. We don't have access to Pro Fumum Roma here in Australia. It's when I travel to Rome that I've had the chance to test out these beautiful perfumes (I have Victrix and Dulce in Fundo)....next one is Acqua di Sale⚡️🧡 (travelling to Italy in June...can't wait!!!!) so yes, next time I will make sure to include this in the line up🙌🏽 Thanks for reaching out Lorenzo

40 knots is marketed as yacht club but in no way is it marine or aquatic you can smell the spices tobacco and sweets.

Yep, I thought the same thing when I first came across this fragrance but there is a slight salty, aquatic note to the fragrance. I know that in the JTC series the notes are not revealed so there's no real way to confirm this; but I know that on the Xerjoff website they do hint that this fragrance is in homage to being on a yacht: xerjoff.com/extraeu/jtc-join-the-club/393-40-knotseau-de-parfum-100ml-8033488155155.html But regardless; it's a glorious fragrance, which I love wearing in Summer☀️😎....same for you? Video proves to me there aren't hardly any good niche aquatics. For "true" aquatic, compare to Blvgari Aqva line. These don't come close at all. 40 knots is powdery and spice. Not even aquatic. Virginia Island Water is coconut and maybe a tad bit watery (stretching). Pacific Rock is somewhat aquatic with citrus.

I had a look just now online and they do look pretty good; will need to test...which is your favourite/stand out hit? Out of interest, have you tried Oltramare by Bois 1920? @@TheNicheFragranceCollector I would try the Aqva Marine from their line. To me it's more of a true aquatic that I co.parw other aquatics against, profile wise. Also try Mandarino Di Amalfi by Tom Ford, once the citrus settles you get aquatic notes that come out. Haven't tried 1920 yet. Rock moss wasn't bad but performance was a bit lackluster, heard new formulation has improved it.
