Its great that Princess Huhuran is now seeing play because of the beast tag. It justifies the classic argument that River Crocolisk and Bloodfen Raptor werent being power creeped every expansion because they have the beast tag
@ElBandito I thought about that, but then I thought about the warrior 3/4 taunt that's a beast, or the two mana hunter spell that summons a monkey. But actually those are class cards. River Croc actually comes out the worst, there are 7 neutral 2/3 beasts with an upside. Poor croc :(
I was hoping you'd mention how even after they nerfed Switcheroo people just started playing Twin-fin instead of boar to just play 40/40 of stats on turn 3 so they had to nerf it again
The Darkness lives in my Legendary Shaman deck. Sometimes I see it work and it's fun. I've had one game where all 3 candles shuffled onto the top of the opponents deck so it immediately awoke. That was fun.
I remember those Naga Sea Witch Reddit ads. Communication with the devs was very lackluster back then. And they barely nerfed anything back then, much less in Wild too. It was cool to see that it paid off.
Like i get playing that garbage to get to legend, but god i wish they'd play something else after hitting legend. You aren't gonna get top 10 bro, just play a deck thats actually fun or something.
Princess Hurhuran was my first legendary I opened ever. I crammed her into every Deathrattle hunter I ever made, before and after the release of terror scale and play dead. Pity I stopped playing before she finally saw her day in the sun (she’s still sitting in the collection of my format account 💀)
What a trip down memory lane (and how I missed these Naga Hands (besides the Naga combo, just look at how fun the game looks when the most powerful thing is a bunch of stats on turn 5).
When I was still playing Hearthstone I did a funny Rogue deck with The Darkness. Basically, I used the Death Knight card to send out TWO Darknesses, and then used the 3 mana 2/2 murloc that drew cards to accelerate the candle gain on my turn. It was a 50/50 strat but it was hilarious.
They really should return all these cards to their glory. As a mtg player I prefer to see better disruption or answers being designed than seeing cards and combos be nerfed.
I wish they'd just reworked Bolf. I.e. "When your hero takes damage, this minion _loses that much health_ instead" or something similar that could bypass immune. Or, if the jailer has to remain nerfed, *Immune* *Battlecry:* remove the top ten cards of your deck. This card is can not be removed from the board
Then you have me who crafted a Golden Bolf way back in the day because a) I thought he was cool and b) He was a solid C’thun counter, since he could eat the entire trigger
I played for 6 years, i stopped in 2020, and i remember a lot of busted things like the 6 mana combo with the warlock 4 cost minion and the 2 cost spell that refreshed your hand and it cost blood
Wretched tiller against my ice block was hideous. It went on for several minutes, and eventually I died because the animation ate my next turn and I was killed a turn later. It was just gross.
I always loved the Kel'thuzad card. It was kind of tricky to start up because it was expensive and all that, but once you got that sucker out there it was GG. You could throw reincarnation on it, then duplicate it, then kill it yourself, and your board just immediately fills up with them and it's impossible to get rid of unless the opponent can literally kill ALL of them simultaneously in the same turn which was literally impossible to do outside of a very few specific cards that could kill everything on the board immediately rather than just damage them. It may not have been as broken as some things because it required some setup and stuff, but damn I loved it. It just felt so powerful and you could pull it off more often than not. So much fun.
@@JordanMG I haven't played in literally years at this point and don't really plan to. It's a shame too because I found the game rather fun but I only played for fun very casually, and I was frequently frustrated at lacking a lot of cards I wanted to use in my decks and the only way to get them was fork out lots of real money which I was not willing to do, or play more and grind it out which I couldn't because I had other things to do in my life. If the game was truly, truly free, it would be fun and i'd probably still play it, but it uses the freemium model of "dedicate your life to it or else you gotta pay" that I just really dislike in gaming.
@@TheDrexxus its more "doing your daily quests and dont waste free things" than it is "devote your life" these days, which is great. It's still pay to play for full variety though
Oh man. Lot of cards that were crap when I played. Oddly enough this is why I stopped playing. They print all these interesting exciting cards that either always lose to boring meta decks, or get crushed by some random cars you disenchanted 2 expansions ago. I only have the patience for BGs these days.
@@JordanMG some classes just don’t have hp to spare, a 9 health windfall could be useful.. if your opponent doesn’t already have a board and is just relying on burn spells
The worst part about the hysteria/tiller thing was that blizzard absolutely refused to nerf it, beacuze "they wanted to keep wild wild and unchanged" or some other bs.
tbh the bolf + immune interaction makes no sense. If an immune minion has taunt the taunt is disabled, it should've been the same with bolf (or at least the damage it took should've bypassed immune)
Kinda glad I stopped playing neverbalancedstone when they gave up on balancing by having wild and standard formats. Standard to keep you on a grinding and payment treadmill, wild to slowly power creep most of your collection and to keep new players out of that mode with random expensive stuff still relevant.
The way new cards can potentially break old cards, and also how quickly new cards can become devastatingly nerfed to break powerful interactions, makes wild such a dissociative realm of fleeting power-levels and inconsistent miserable play patterns. These examples of 'broken' cards are sometimes no more broken than the current wild power-turns/win conditions, but since the devs consider some stuff 'fine', and other stuff 'a bad play experience', wild players are forced to either deal with all of the good and the bad of the format with no prediction as to what might stick, or what might change. Maybe that's what some players want and enjoy from the format, but deteriorating player numbers show the opposite
Many fairly old archetypes in wild are still top tier or at least very much playable. Considering how rarely they make balance changes to wild, I don't think they could do much more to stabilize the wild meta. Until they treat it the same as standard, this is the best that can be expected.
When frist i saw the egg, Huhuran interaction, it was so hilarious to me Also I totally agree about your argument about disenchanting cards being bad for the long run and I haven't disenchanted a single card since 2017 (Exept duplicates) Too bad I didn't own Huhuran from the start but didn't want to craft one
I guess undertaker hunter wasn’t as “broken” but it was the first real deck that felt oppressive and warped the meta through a couple of expansions. Ben Brode was reluctant to make any nerfs or buffs to cards.
When I played hearthstone that 4 cost 20 20 was useful during a certain event basicly I had a ability where I could draw cards easily so I once got out two of those I think the third got sent to the graveyard because I had to many cards in hand and I sung for game if you can easily draw your deck fast this card is a god send due to its stats.
@@JordanMG fair point. I always used Malganis since I played control warlock with Guldan hero. Made more sense to me. Didn't even think about Bolf being neutral
It is fucking dumb that they nerfed hysteria instead of doing something about wretched tiller. Blizzard balance decisions at display here. MAYBE if they made it 2 mana instead, sure i'd accept that.. It's made much worse but at least it costs less.
Hearthstone players are some of the most whiniest babies ever. They would literally break their computers if they faced even slightly competitive magic the gathering decks. None of these cards would be considered broken in any other card game.
6:09 - Yeah! Caring for hobby so much that you pay money for it!?😂😂😂 what were they? Idiots??? Imagine wanting something you like to improve! Comedy GOLD 😂
turn 4 3x8/8 wouldn’t be good anymore these days? I mean, I came back to hs for a short while this year and left, when I saw all the reworked cards. Aoe and clownfiesta everywhere, but I didn’t think it’s that bad. Guess my gut instinct was right, because the game was fcking terrible. If they ever close down dungeon runs, I’m never gonna touch hs ever again. Well, we had a good time…
