I just bought my first 5 belts/buckles from Anson this past summer because of one of your previous videos. I can confirm their customer service is absolutely amazing. I got a wrong strap, they let me keep it and sent me a new one with no charge. I plan on making it an annual purchase, so that I can eventually collect them all!
Yes I normally would agree with you however if you see military lbe harness you notice belt with s uspenders to carry canteens ammo knifes etc.etc. in today's world men carry firearms, cellphones pouches, sunglasses etc.etc. so distributing the weight being able to not wratchet your belt to carry all that weight could in fact make sense.but I do agree with the dress code however try it if you carry multiple gadgets . You may have a different prospective
I've tried both Anson and KORE, and although Anson is a bit more fashion forward (?) and sleeker in design, KORE has SO much more durability- no bends after a year and half of wear!
And completely fucking offensive ,ad blockers rule the internet, never invade my page with intrusive ads ,dont talk to me ,evil corporations, if I need to buy something ,I will call you. Assholes!
The best part about your videos is that you very well connect with your viewers! It is quite simple... You are tryna make a conversation. This makes it even more efficient while explaining things!
Thank you for adding in the comment about the working professional (tradesman), it drives me nuts when style experts exclaim "suspenders or belt, NEVER both in any situation!".
The one rule I break sometimes is not wearing a belt with a waistcoat. The idea behind this "rule" is to keep an unbroken line between the trousers and waistcoat, yet I find that with more casual outfits like raw denim jeans with a tweed waistcoat a belt can look great. Its all about context.
But if you wear jeans and a waistcoat, aren't you already "violating" that rule of an unbroken line? Unless you're wearing a denim waistcoat, which is questionable in and of itself. So yeah I agree, it's about context. A waistcoat with matching dress pants is not the same as wearing a waistcoat with other types of pants.
I always wear a belt with suits, regardless if they have waist coats, since three-piece suit do usually have the waist coat be longer and the pants rise a little higher, so the belt cannot be seen either way.
For my dress slacks I remove the belt loops and have brace buttons put on the inside. They hang much more nicely + is more comfortable and flattering imo.
As a very skinny person, I used to wear a belt every day. After being inspired to put in the extra effort and find really well-fitting pants, it's so nice to have greater flexibility in whether or not I want to wear a belt depending on the look. Also, it's much more comfortable to have well-fitting pants anyway. Would definitely recommend getting a good fit so 0:38 doesn't have to be an issue.
Hi. I'm the guy from Wichita Falls who you answered a few of my questions on your live stream a couple months ago. I just wanted to say, for one I liked this video and that I generally don't thumbs up videos on RU-vid. I generally just watch video after video but I have taken a lot of inspiration from you. I watch virtually all of your new videos. Call me a silent fan I suppose. I just wanted to say hi.
I wear military belts with jeans. Also, I used to go to my office job in slacks that fit and didn’t need a belt. Someone who thought he was a boss grabbed the rear loop and wouldn’t let go “until you wear a belt.” I wear belts with my jeans and slacks even if I don’t need to.
Great belt primer, Antonio. I don't wear belts often since I usually wear a vest when it's too warm for a sweater. But I need to get my hands on an Anson one of these days.
Perhaps it's not versatile, but I just make sure all my leather is black.. I like the mechanism employed in the Anson belts, maybe one day I'll check it out, but for now I'll stick with my Magpul, because if they make it, it works.
Andrew Henley um, too late. 😔 I did spring for the dark pewter hardware kit for a subdued look on my Tejas. May look into an El empresario as they are conceived with a more formal style in mind
Just like with most of your videos, I found this surprisingly useful and informative. Most of the time I watch your videos just because it seems interesting, but I usually come out having learned something genuinely useful that I didn't expect. I should give you more credit at this point, I know :P
I like a belt and suspenders because suspenders alone pull your pants up,they almost float. A belt alone wont hold my pants up because im rountinely squating bending and all sorts of other movements. I always agreed it looked like shit which is why i wore the suspenders under my shirt.
I’m not sure why this was in my recommended but thanks for the video, I needed a good laugh. Very “first world problems” IMHO. If you’re worried about what color belt to wear or what buckle to wear you’re either Howard Wollowitz or you have too much time on your hands. Do jeans need a belt? Do they fall down without one? There’s your answer! If you have to honestly all this question I’m surprised you can dress and feed yourself at all
I break the suspender belt rule out of necessity. My belt just won't keep my pants up anymore but suspenders do however I can't attach my holster to my suspenders. It may not look "smart" but it works for me.
Great video today, Antonio. I really enjoyed it. Lots of great information. I especially like that you make it absolutely clear that a belt is always necessary if you wear your shirt tucked.
I am leather Smith, and I build my own belts. The color Cordovan goes with everything, much like the color black. Darker colors tend to be universal to match with most attire. Get a classy looking belt buckle. The buckle will make or break a belt!
I have very small hips & so I have difficulty filling out my pants. I always need to wear a belt. Going to start hitting the gym to build muscle and hopefully my clothes will start fitting better!
Your videos are amazing sir, tips are on point as always and the way you advertise your sponsors is just sooo seamless and very un-pushy (if that's a real word) that I'd love to actually get one of those belts but it's just that I'm not used to ordering overseas
Ronnie from NYC ! Thank you for the information on the formal and informal belts as well as colors combinations and coordinations again another informative video thank you very much Ronnie's from NYC!
I wear a belt only when it´s needed and I have only wide belts with normal buckle because they sit best and look best. Also I rather hold my pants up than wear suspenders.
Amazing video Antonio. I am personally using a belt with the same mechanism as Anson and its amazing. What belt pairs best with casual boots and sneakers do you think?
Sorry Antonio but I’ll stick with slide belts. More options of color and 3 tiers of leather with more buckle options. Also amazing service when I accidentally got an extra belt I sent it back and they gave me a code for a free belt for being honest. But u do u buddy both great companies
Back when I was a skinny little kid growing up in the 90s, the only times I've had to ever put a belt on were with a suit I wore the church and the weddings I Attended with my family Otherwise I'd Normally be in Comfortable clothes, Like long sleeves and Sweatpants or T-shirt and shorts Until you find out how cold it actually is outside Then I'd switch to T-shirt and jeans with a Jacket The one time I wore A T-shirt And jeans with a belt Which I never usually wear because I could never get used to how it felt around my waist Plus I didn't like how the buckle would literally press into my stomach leaving an imprint no matter how many times I tried to pull it forward So it wouldn't Feel like it was pinching me Which I'd get very annoyed with Plus The only reason why I had a belt on At school that day Was because the Previous day at school i was hanging from the monkey bars at recess and While I was hanging from there Another kid Snuck up behind me without me Noticing and pulled Down My sweatpants In which ended up exposing my clean White underwear And my scrawny little legs And even though I had shoes on my feet You wouldn't have known because my pants were covering The back half of my shoes Plus everyone was laughing at the fact that My pants had been yanked down and My undies were showing Also once I realized what had happened I then got off the monkey bars and quickly pulled my pants up Then I ran off the playground and didn't stop running until I reached the boy's restroom And locked myself inside a Restroom stall At this point I sat down on the floor Pulled My legs up to my chest put my head in my knees And allowed myself to feel Just how embarrassed and humiliated I was Which in turn Made me start crying the next day at school I showed up Wearing a T-shirt And jeans with a belt Which Like I said Before I never usually wear because I could never get used to how it felt around my waist Plus had I showed up Wearing a T-shirt And jeans with no belt And what happened the previous day at recess Ended up happening again. Then everyone would've seen that I had Clean Superhero underwear on that day And the emotions of a scrawny little kindergarten boy would have started all over again However thankfully I chose the 1st option and avoided all that.
Appreciate the belt wearing lesson. I'm a violator of the matching color with shoes. I definitely believe the quality belts are worth the money and the gift set for $99.95 I see on the Anson Belt website is too good to pass up. Thank you.
We have always been told, never wear belts and suspenders at the same time. Well the new trend is (Perry Suspenders ) they are great just hook them up and loosen your belt and relax
Hi Antonio, how are you? I would jus like to add to your advice, something you missed out on, matching leathers, if a shoe is a 2 tone or has some type of gradient from dark to light colour, Always match up the belt with the darker colour. Thank you
Great video Antonio. I am enjoying the structure of your videos now. Think you found a solid balance between teaching the stuff we want to know and showcasing your sponsors
I found this video when trying to see what counter clockwise looked like and clockwise. Great tips in video but I guess men wear it counter clockwise and women are suppose to wear it clockwise. ... But I guess putting a clock on the ground helps to know which way to load the loops.
Hi Antonio That's a great informative video there, but just wanted to ask how do we center a classic belt buckle, as in I suppose belt buckles worn to either side don't look good, so just wanted to know how and where do we center each kind of these belt buckles?? Please do let me know. And I hope you got my question right!! Thanks & Regards Anant
If paired properly, I enjoy the aesthetic of suspenders with a belt on occasion. Does it make sense from a practicality standpoint? Absolutely not. But style and practicality don't always sit in the same basket.
Antonio (as amazing as he is) is very classic and doesn’t like to break the “unbreakable rules” of fashion. I think it’s like wearing a hoodie with shorts. Is it practical? Hell no. You are going to be either hot on your torso or cold in your legs and that’s a sacrifice you make to pull that look off. If you think you can pull it off, go for it. BTW, I don’t think the suspender with a belt look good XD (respect that people do tho)
Is there a way to wear a belt with a standard frame buckle without damaging the leather? If anyone were to see my belts, they would know exactly which hole is used for the buckle, but this may also be because I've bought a lot of cheap bonded leather belts.
So if I want to where suspenders, I should get my belt loop holes removed? That just sounds very cost/labor intensive. Plus what if I want to wear a belt one day and then suspenders the next on the same pair of slacks? Do I need two pairs?
That’s the only belt I wear, I love it! Luckily for me, I bought it at CVS where I only paid about $30 for it. I actually was going to upgrade my belt style to more colors and buckles. I have other belts that I still have from when I was in the 8th grade. They’re kind of like Anson Belts, but they’re canvas like material and the buckles have spikes to keep the belt in place. In your opinion, should I keep them or give them away?
I actually bought an Anson belt last year because of your videos. But my experience was not that great the belts tend to move a couple of clicks when you move or bend.
So you can bend a “rule” about not matching but can’t wear a belt with suspenders ? My suspenders are only for fashion not to actually hold up my pants so I’m bending that rule I don’t care who don’t like it 🤣
I actually enjoy suspenders and balts together how ever it only works with bright colors shirts like pink or blue and dark colored belts and then you are gonna want to use another bright color suspender.like White. I personally Recommend wearing suits And then you look good and just as good if you take off the Jacket. It has become popular among younger people lower 20s upper teens
I'm a pilot and my uniform has gold wings on the shirt and jacket. I have a silver tie bar that I've always loved but is that a foul with the mismatch? This leads me to the belt buckle. Should it match the wings or tie bar or should they all match?
Nice video. Question: Does it matter which way I insert the belt in the loops? As a righty, I wind it around clockwise. Going counter clockwise feels odd. Thanks.
Which video? Also, should belt be "threaded" to left or right. I was taught buckle should be on left side. When I see men wear buckle on right it drives me nuts!
I understand and I don’t mean you have to give your opinion on a specific brand. I was referring to your thoughts as to buying a name brand belt in general
I like how other chanells (cough alpham mensgazette caugh) say "NO IF THEY DONT MATCH THAN NO ...GO AND BUY NEW ONE" and thats not posible everytime and i ask is it ok to pull your pants all the time or mismatch the belt and they just dont answer that they play dumb repeat the answers they heard somewhere and refuse to think The same with square shoes I have a flat foot and to get adequate rouded toe i need 3 sizes bigger and im already 45
It has nothing to do with me and I want nothing to do with them. Where did you get the idea that I'm telling them how to dress? It's just a personal opinion I keep to myself. Don't make claims you cannot support.
