I searched for "under $100 pellet rifle review". Yours is by far the best review video. Probably gonna get the Daisy 880 based on your review. Gotta thin out the squirrel herd in the back yard. Thanks again.

Check out the Buckrail accessory for it. H and N terminators have done the best for pellets for me and also I like the BSA 4x32ao scopes. Just putting it out there if you’re looking for stuff like that.

That's good information for all folks, noob or experienced air rifle fans. I got my first BB gun in the late 1960's, love the hobby and always appreciate other peoples idea's and knowledge. Living in an apartment with limited outdoor opportunity to do some plinking is a challenge, so I built a pellet trap (for indoor shooting), the key is 'Duct Seal Compound" which is almost like thick clay type of substance, it comes in 1lb blocks or packs of multiple, it catches the pellet or BB with zero ricochets, it can be found in the electrical dept at the big box home improvement stores. There are lots of various plans on how to make one on the internet. Thank you Travis.

You can put adhesive backed foam tape where the pump handle closes to quiet pumping them up on Crossman air rifles.

On the defense of Crosman 760 smooth bore. I have a reservations shooting steel BB's in a rifled barrel. All this Winter, I shot my 760 (3 pumps/shot only) with Crosman Copperhead BB's shooting small bore targets printed on 65lb cardstock. This combination is very inexpensive and allows lots of practice. I ditched the small Crosman 4x scope in favor of a red dot which allows fine sight adjustment with easier single BB loading. I shoot my Crosman 2100 Classic with pellets only just to be gentler on the rifled barrel bore.

I can’t remember the channel. But he was using his newer 760 as an indoor plinker and I can see it being a great gun for that. I just wish they offered a rifled so that I could use hunting with my kids.

The 880 is a great kids gun especially for ease of pumping and the money. 40$ is awesome and if you put pellets in it and a 4X32 light weight scope…those kids won’t miss much out to 30-40 yards. Take the front plastic site off and wrap a piece of Scotch tape to snug it up inside the front site. You will increase the accuracy by about 25%. Hope this helps. Great info bud. Thanks.

That was an excellent pellet gun in the mid 90s and the best you could get off the shelf at Walmart. They totally turned them into trash around 2000 or so couldn't believe how bad they ruined that thing, went from the absolute best to making a red rider look like a target rifle. I hope they went back like they were originally.

I've had my 2100 for over 30 years. It's been great fun year after year. My son and I put new seals in as it eventually needed them and it's still going strong. (Yes, its fiddly but there's RU-vid videos to help) works great at 25 yards, hits steel consistently at 45 yards and we can hit at 55 if the target is big enough. Love it

I liked the Remington 66. Back in the day. Was a great gun. Over 650 fps would trust it for wilderness hiking. Plenty of power and accuracy. The older Crosman 760s were way better than newer 760s. Easier to pump short plastic hand grips on older 760 s pumping handle made pumping easier

The Chinese make a plastic breech that works well for the 1322 2240 family , it's not obvious that it's plastic it has same dimensions as the steel breeches , the negative I can say about it is when it came it had a lot of scratches from being in a bin with tons of other breeches , a simple scuffing with a green scrubber will take all the scratches out and I can say it works well at 25 percent of the weight of the steel breeches . All I'm saying is Crosman could do the same as OEM . Nice list , I agree although I havnt owned some of the guns you mentioned , I definitely had an 880 and a Legacy , currently own the 1322 converted from a 1377 , it was 44 bucks so I couldn't resist . I saw you hit 3k in Subs , way to be man keep the vids coming , wouldn't it be great to email Pyramid tell them about your channel and get some free stuff .

Was kinda bummed out because it was all plastic... my old one was all wood and metal with a weird slide open breech instead of a tiny bolt handle. Definitely better built back then. But of course I found the mods and have built it to a mini rifle and its awesome now. 14" barrel, steel breech, fiber front sight, rear peep sight, oem stock and I printed fatty pump forend. Totally different beast now lol

Speaking of rabbit hole... I bought my son a red ryder for Christmas. Since then I picked up a Crosman 1377, 1322, and a browning buck mark for myself. Now you've got me seriously considering a daisy 880. I feel like I'm too old to be buying bb guns. I love the crosman 13xx,but like you said, i despise the plastic breech and the rear sight. I don't like how the rear sight sticks way up and gets snagged on everything. I have to re-adjust it every time I get it out. The steel breech and the rear sight are pretty pricey.

The Crossman 760 seemed to make a lot of sense for the kids killing paper and soda cans with bb's, but I found out that the break very easily where the stock meets the receiver. Too bad, because they are very handy, easy to load bb's and pellets, accurate enough to drill soda cans at 10 yards, and made in the US. I'm trying out the Powerline 35 now to see if it will hold up better. If crossman fixes their weak design, then I'll go back to the 760

My favorite airgun for shooting with a B•B is the Daisy Powerline 35 model. It shoots really accurate at realistic ranges of up to 25 yards, etc. It is accurate to shoot with a B•B because of it's precision quality inside diameter smooth bore barrel. My Daisy Powerline 35 started to shoot the Daisy PREMIUM Grade zinc coated steel B•B's very accurately aften about 400 rounds. I only shoot B•B in this airgun. I never shoots pellets in it. For hunting crows and rabbits I use my Welbey Rebel .22 caliber pumper airgun that has a 4×32 Bushnell rifle scope on it. It is accurate with good quality 14 grain lead pellets and has a velocity of 700 feet per second with lightweight pellets. Good accuracy up to 40 yards.

I have bagged squirrel with a Crossman 760 with BB's and 5 pumps, but only at close range. The two guns me and my buddies had when I was a kid were the early 80's Crossman 760 and Daisy 880. The Crossman shot BB's way better, the Daisy shot pellets way better. Rifled vs Smoothbore barrels I guess... Kids liked rolling with BB's because of easy reload, so to me the Crossman was king. I know I made out to 30 yard shots on birds with the Crossman with BB's as a kid. Now as an adult I bought two vintage early 80's 760's and I have a new Daisy 880. The Daisy throws BB's everywhere, Crossman even with iron sights I can shoot a great group with BB's out to about 10-15 yards. So, just for plinking and maybe closer range small pest control BB's are fine. Any type of hunting outside of 15 yards and in I would go with .22 pellets like my Gammo Swarm. (kickass 10rd pellet mag as well)

Dang bro! Best video i could find. Was looking at picking one of these up but didnt know what to go for. We get massive swarms of toads in rural Arizona and they're the psychedelic kind which really jack up dogs if they bite or lick them and theyre about the size of a softball full grown. Was looking for an air rifle that could cleanly dispatch them without ricochets damaging the outside of my house. A buddy let me borrow his but its got roughly the power of a 22 on a single break action and thats way more than i need plus it's pretty steep over 250 bucks. Would be great for longer distances on things like rabbits but way too much for close quarters toad dispatchin 😂

I made a cool little discovery shooting gel with my pump gun using pellets. there's a particular pellet that I believe is supposed to act as a hollow point i guess it has a tiny dimple and the face is slightly raised like the start of a semi wadcutter. if that's its intended function it don't work, but if loaded backwards will flatten out to about 32cal and penetrate about inch and a half in 10 percent gel. that's an immediate massive energy dump. every other pellet I tried that with just broke apart. I don't play with air guns much these days I got the 10 pump daisy diamond because I was nostalgic that day and it was 30 bucks new and it's what I had as a kid. the only design that would hold up. all the other ended up with a screwdriver jammed in the bolt. I know somebody knows what I'm talking about lol. when I was a kid I took a shot at 1 of my grandparents chickens because I thought it was out of range, it was like 50 yards away with a bb and it died on the spot. I couldn't believe it. bb's are very underrated in my opinion because they will sail.

I had one of those Crossman pistols years ago. Crazy accurate. I could shoot the heads off wasps 40 feet up in trees. My cousin didn`t believe that and a dragonfly landed on a power line and told me to prove it. It came down without a head. So I bought a new one for about 60 bucks. Piece of garbage. Even at close range it was hard to hit bottle caps. I missed every cat that attacked my cat at night. Hate the new one. It`s very hard to pump, half the power of my old one, and honestly my first thought was....they designed this so you can`t hunt with them anymore. New designed traps and several other things I`ve tried out seemed made by animal rights activists to fail....like those God awful jump traps. I made the mistake of buying a bunch of them years ago. Totally useless. A lot of the fancy new air rifles I`ve tried out were wildly inaccurate. I used to successfully hunt ducks on creeks, doves, rabbits, squirrels, and all sorts of things for food with my old Benjamin pumps. Even got a coyote that started trailing me on a squirrel hunt with a Benjamin 22 cal. Dropped him 5 feet away. I also got a Canadian goose once. We had him for Christmas dinner. I mainly used the Benjamins for rabbit control in our gardens and averaged about 500-700 per year, sometimes a lot more. After a disease wiped out coyotes the rabbit population exploded. So each night I`d make a 300 yard loop around the gardens and get what I could. Those Benjamins were amazing.

You got that right. I bought a new 1377 about three years ago and it was terrible! The rear sight mounting screw was drilled off-center, so the sight could not be adjusted enough to get it on target. Also the plastic felt like a plastic model kit toy. Ended up throwing it away about a year later. The only good pump pistol I have is an old Sheridan that I bought back in '89, all wood and brass, very good quality and super accurate. Shoots at 550fps with 8 pumps over my chronograph. Never had any trouble with it. Also have a '72 model Benjamin 342 that I've had for 50 years now. Great rifle and super accurate with open sights.

I`m getting a Daisy 880 as a last (inexpensive, relatively) pest control tool for a demonic armadillo who keeps destroying my food in my garden. I hit him with an old can of beans HARD and he returned before dawn and tried to take out every important plant I had. Getting another cheap driveway alarm too and putting one on each end of the garden. I`m trying to be very friendly with the big rabbits and planted things they like so they`d stop nibbling my beans and okra and the armadillo attacked their lettuce and moringa patch too! A disease reduced the rabbit population so I`m hoping the pair in my yard has babies to harvest next Winter. I want them around as a backup food supply so I try not to scare them much. The driveway alarms are a great hunting assistant.

Travis, this was a great video that you obviously put some time into, after using the guns that you covered, first. Hate it when someone tries to advise me on something that they haven't used themselves for any appreciable time. Can't argue with anything you said and I own all the guns you covered, some in both calibers. The 880 is a favorite of mine because it pumps so much easier that the others.(you didn't mention that BTW, but I know you know it's true) You were very concise in the criteria that you were using in this video, but if you are willing to go outside that box and consider a more expensive gun that may be even more difficult to work on, but doesn't need to really be modified in the first place, I would recommend the Seneca Aspen. It pumps up to a very high psi, gives an energy level at the muzzle that is capable of taking coyote sized animals, will give multiple follow up shots without re-pumping first, and has a magazine feeding system. Once you get this pumped up initially, you can take several very high powered shots and with 4 or 5 pumps, be back up to the max pressure and ready to fire again at over 25 Ft/Lbs of energy. It isn't as convenient or cheap for backyard plinking, but you also raised the issue of appropriateness for hunting and this gun hits all the marks in that regard. This may be THE ideal survival gun, if you're into that sort of mindset with your purchases. I love mine. If you can get one, I recommend that you do. You may not be able to appreciate its potential until you do.

@mrhalfstep
@mrhalfstep Год назад
@@timmy4539 If you have to pump 50 times for each shot you take to get the gun topped back off, I think there's something wrong with your gun. That would mean after taking 10 shots you'd have to pump 500 times to get it full again. My gun only takes about 150 pumps to fill from completely empty to the full 250 bar level. I wouldn't like my gun at all if I had to pump as much as you have to.

@mrhalfstep Год назад
@@timmy4539 Tim, if you search on YT for Pyramyd Air Channel's video entitled "Seneca Aspen - correct way to operate the pump" you will see the gun being used as I described in my first comment. Tyler actually only needs 3-4 pumps to replenish for each shot after 3 shots. You are basically trying to fill the gun, to start with, just high enough to give you 3 or 4 shots at the highest power. I don't know how much you know about how the valve works in an unregulated PCP airgun, but the max fill pressure isn't usually where you get the max power out of the gun. It is usually a much lower pressure that will give the highest power shots; the sweet spot. At any rate, once you have figured out what the best pressure is, and that will be pretty hard to do without a chronograph, then you take your 3 or 4 shots and then pump back up to that pressure. It should only take 10-12 pumps, something like that and then you can take 3 or 4 shots again. I treat mine like a regular old one shot multi-pump. Once I get it filled properly I take a shot, pump a few times take a shot, pump a few times, over and over. My shots are very close in velocity that way, just like any multi-pump would be, but man, will they ever be more powerful than any Crosman or Daisies from Walmart and with just a couple of pumps, not 10 -15 like those other guns require. If I shoot an animal and it's a miss or a wounding shot, I can operate the bolt and shoot again and probably do a third shot if I need to and all the shots will be the same velocity. If that happens I pump up the 10 or 12 times and I'm back to the usual routine 1 shot, pump a few. You have a gauge right on the gun to tell you when you get back to the sweet spot. One other thing that I will caution you on and it may be what is causing you to pump so much. The pump is not like a bicycle pump. It is a multi stage pump that is basically 3 pumps pumping from one into the next into the next to get the high pressure. The passages between those pump chambers are very small and the air flows through them slowly. If you recharge the pump handle before all the air from the previous stroke had a chance to pass from its chamber to the next, you wasted half or more of the stroke. I count 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and, with each number and each "and" being about a second apart. Slower really is faster, as weird as that seems. I hope you know that I'm not talking down to you and I understand that you may know these things already, but If you don't or if someone else comes along later and doesn't know I'm just trying to help. Start with that video. It's pretty clear about how the gun should operate.
@timmy4539
@timmy4539 Год назад
@@mrhalfstep John that is how I pump the gun and I have seen the video that you're talking about what you have to understand is what I said before I have to pump my gun 40 - 50 times before it even starts to build pressure ! Once it starts to build pressure it's ok but it takes that many pumps to get it going ! It does not matter after how many shots or what the pressure is in the gun I have to pump it that 40 - 50 pumps to get it to start to build pressure again !

@@ohshoot444 I don't know about the crosmans, but I always leave my 880's cocked, but NOT pumped or loaded. This keeps the exhaust valve closed and pressure off the exhaust valve spring, as well as the exhaust port staying sealed shut so stuff can't get in there. I've had issues in the past with 880's not holding air from sitting a long time NOT being cocked. After a few shots the valve would seal again and it was ok. But I think what's happening is the valve spring is not wanting to let the valve close fully when it's left uncocked for a long time. It gets a little sticky.
