I NEVER wear white sneakers or running shoes. Being from Ireland where its damp, wet and raining a LOT of the time white sneakers /running shoes won't last pissing time.
What do you think about slides with fun socks? - southern California. I love the spring fashion videos... could you do one on how to wear shorts dressed up and down? Thank you!
I can't wait to start my new trend for this spring and summer....white tube socks, pulled up to my knees while sporting my crocs. Once I do this, the babes will come running....and not even God can stop them.
I presume you donned a classic pair of short, shorts with this look? I bet you have some stories to tell once the girls got hold of you with this look!
Nice, I did not know about chukka boots, a nice alternative to Chelsea boots that are too fancy for my casual style :) Also, I think Spring is much colder in Europe than in LA with still more rains. I think many shoes here like Penny Loafer would be more for the second half of Spring or simply Summer.
I used to wear espadrilles in early college years. I had a black, off white, and when my cousin came back from Europe, electric blue one. I even had leather one in navy. Maybe more like leather, cut like an espadrille. Along will thin leather slip on's, were my summer Staples. Well the occasional Sperry topsider and Cole-Haan driving moccasins....
I would like to throw in Huaraches as another classic alternative. The Mexican sandal comes in a variety of colors and material but brown or tan leather is an instant classic.
Ashley's and indeed most fashion consultants/bloggers/etc's, opinion is that men should never be seen wearing sandals or flip flops of any sort. They are only suitable for wear by the pool or the beach, and honestly she doesn't even think you should wear them there either.
Hi again. I never ever wear sandals. But I do wear half socks (black) with all of my sneakers. Hence, I have significant tan lines around my ankles. Meaning my ankles are pale and my legs are tanned. Wearing no socks would look very funny on me. 🤣 I would need to focus on tanning my ankles. Which will probably not happen as I don't lay out to tan. So I assume I would need some type of tanning lotion to conceal my pale ankles. Or just keep wearing half socks. But maybe I am too old anyway to walk around exposing my ankles. Notwithstanding old in age not in appearance. Is it stylish to wear half socks with those loafers and espadrilles? Thank you.
Hi Ashley! It would be helpful if you could advice me on one doubt regarding white sneakers. If I am wearing a dark low contrast outfit like navy shirt and charcoal chinos, would white sneakers look good or would it draw a lot of attention to the feet and therefore would not be very elegant?
Well, if you want to keep the outfit low-contrast than keep the shoes in line with that, but white sneakers can still very easily look great paired with darker colors - it adds a little visual intrigue
What about those dinosaurs among us who don't like/feel comfortable with the "no sock" look? I am 65 years old and just can't get behind the anklet look or not wearing socks. Help!
Why didn't you include some nice minimal slip on sneakers? I personally think it's a better alternative than espadrilles. especially for men in their 20's and mid 30's. Penny loafers may be comfortable, but i always feel like i'm looking at a womans feet when guys wear them.
Loafers, espadrilles and driving mocs are not flattering to look at for those that are on the heavier side. Like a Henley shirt, they look better for those with a slimmer or fit body type.
The key to look good as a fat person, is not try and mask the fat, we can see the greese coming out of fat people faces, the key is to lose weight, healthiness is attractive, and being fat doesn't equal that
Hello. Can you opine regarding “casual” derby and blucher men's shoes? Regular, split-toe, and those chunky sole types. You don't mention these casual dress shoes in your shoe reviews. You also don't mention casual style brogue shoes in either an oxford or derby. Seems you have only discussed oxfords and derby’s when referring to “dress” shoes. You don't need to discuss the difference between oxford's, derby's, and blucher’s, just whether casual derby and blucher shoes are still relevant men's style shoes for casual wear? We know square toe'd derby's and blucher's are not. Also an opinion of casual shoes like the “Wilbert” from Allen Edmonds. Thank you.
Seriously you need to think of people who do not live in southern california. not wearing socks with most shoes makes you look like a pretentious twerp (I'm being polite) and in pennsylvania it ain't spring so without socks you're going to get cold.
Ash, you gotta stop w/ these white shoes. Those belong to Mike the situation on the jersey boardwalk! You’re better than this Ash! Start touting light suede chukkas instead
