Just to offer my own experience for what it's worth, I bought a pair of Jim Green Razorbacks last winter and had a mixed experience with them. They are well-built and comfortable, and that aggressive outsole kept me steady on my feet in the ice and snow. Unfortunately their lesser quality leather deteriorated strangely after the exposure to the elements, with the dye partially bleeding out unevenly around both boots and the leather sort of dimpling for lack of a better word. They are an inexpensive boot, of course, but still, after just one winter I won't be wearing them for anything else besides shoveling snow. They just aren't fit for wearing out in public after that.
We just came across this now and thanks for the feedback, last winter was our first batch of boots to the USA and since then we have made improvements to our leather to withstand harsher winters. Here in South Africa we don’t get much, if any snow so was something new to us. Drop us an email as we always here to assist🥾
I would also say that Razorbacks are not winter boots. They’re sturdy for work/hiking but as they have zero insulation, I wouldn’t use them in any harsh winter conditions
10k is just around the corner (end of the year goal). I'm not a moc toe guy, but the Sawmill and Roughneck tempt me. I prefer the lug sole look over the wedge sole.
Nice group of boots, thanks for this video! I had been thinking of the Sawmill and the Explorer, I thought that either would be nice for the winters here in New York. However, I ended up recently ordering a pair of boots from last year’s list, the Rancourt Freeman Boots! I am looking forward to their arrival (approx 3 more weeks)!!! Thanks again!
My list. Dinner Quarry. Great leather. Gortex lined. Then LL Bean boot lined. Alico Italian hiker. My experience with Thursday is limited to the Scout which I found to be a waste of money.
Should I get the same size in the Brass as my Iron Rangers 8.5 D and Thursday 8.5D ? I have to get the 9 red wing moc because it's so narrow - Do you need the same size in the saw mills - are they also narrow?
Have RW iron ranger, RW Irish setter hunting boot 200g, danner hikers, and 2 pairs of ecco track II. The eccos by far my favorite boot for snow unless cold when I go to the Irish setters
Couldn't agree with you more William, Grant Stones for the money are excellent and comparable to Aldens etc. that cost nearly $600.00./.. I purchased the Green Kudo boots from them and couldn't believe the refinement of the construction, impeccable and they fit the best of any boots I own...! I got that video filmed and working on editing now! It'll be out on Christmas Eve. The only problem is that I have like 10 more pairs of boots I've picked up since filming it haha
I wouldn’t buy any of these boots. They are not made for cold temperatures. They are more about water resistant not even really water proof. They should have at least 400 mg of insulation. You can do better.
