Red wings are not exactly good for walking around town. Great for onsite jobs. They hold up more than anything from my experience. Majorly rugged. But boots for style and daily walking around, red wings are not it.

I have danner, and thorogood... the danner bull run look the best (in my opinion) and they are my favourite "casual" boot... but the Thorogoods are my workboots... 12 hrs a day, on your feet, you just can't beat their zero break in, and overall comfort.
i had bought 4 pairs of red wings, their are all very uncomfortable. the out sole are so stiff, i don't understand how americans thing they are comfortable. i still wear them for the style and the quality of their leather, but they are really uncomfortable. if i was still in my 20th , i probably won't mind. as im in my 40th, they are nearly unbearable. for the comfort, mongrels 8.5/10, blundstone 7/10, rossi 6/10, red wing 4/10. this is my honest opinion, best wishes.
I have my (Blundstone thermal) special winter seri , 3 years daily wearing Here in Sweden 🇸🇪, very hard winter ❄️ Still perfect, I love them and they worth money. If I will change them , it will be Redback
“Skinny” jeans have a negative connotation attached to it when described like this. More form fitted jeans make more sense. Especially if you’re confident and don’t care about what other people say. If you look good and feel good. Skinny jeans look good on old men.
Cobler here, I think plastic welt for work boots is great because it is better at repelling water and other fluids encountered during work. Which is why I reccomend thorogoods.
I don’t know that a boot with a clear plastic sole and kilties makes the best example of a ‘work’ boot. Just because it has leather laces doesn’t make it so. And though I don’t own any, I wouldn’t call an easy on/off basic brown chucka a ‘complicated’ boot. Solid classic designs may rise and fall with trendiness but they never go out of style. Stick with that nugget of wisdom and you can’t go wrong.
I was gonna get these boots. But the non gusseted tongue is a deal breaker. As much as I applaud Thursday for trying to make a decent outdoor boot, they really just proved they made these totally for show.
People that own Dr Martens are pretty happy with them. They are great for the price. Leather boots are not cheap. Do you need the best cut of the finest leather for your shoes? You need a shank there tough guy? And he seems to state as a matter of fact that these boots only last a year and there are plenty of people wearing them much longer than that and they aren’t shipping them off to be re soled. These are great boots for under $200 is what they are. The boots this guy wants cost $300+. He’s talking about Docs though because they are extremely popular and mine cost $180 retail. I paid $150 brand new online and they are very well made.,very comfortable perfect fit,with slip resistant soles. Not feeling duped here so far. I bet the soles will fall off in a few months we’ll see😂
Is there a rule regarding boots and glossy boots? Like when is it good to wear a glossy pair of boots over a rugged looking pair? I struggle with what outfits to where the glossy boots with.
You are a boot pro! I have six pairs of Redwings. Some I've bought used and some I have re-sold if I didn't love them. Watching the vid and getting down to #2 I thought gee, I wonder why Red Wing never made the list. LOL Pretty remarkable considering the cost of some of the others. Pretty much I cannot justify more than $400 for a pair of boots, but that's just me. Brian the boot maker convinced me to take up cobbling myself. I don't sew, but nearly bought a stitcher, but have resoled a lot of my boots with Cristys and Vibrams. I prefer oil-tanned leathers over chrome finish as they take oil well and always look good. Brian is also really good with how to refinish or restore boots, polishes, buffing, etc. I love my Iron Rangers but they're not all that comfortable. Maybe I need to put some insoles in them. I still prefer my work chukkas as I don't really work in my boots. The ones I do work in are a standard mock-toe briar oil slick, just putting a new black Cristy sole on them. Glued on soles are easy to remove, you have to be careful not to damage the last - you can do this a couple of times and then they should probly be re-lasted/sewn. I do like to put heel-type soles on my chukkas, I like brown or black better than the cream-colored crepe soles. I actually broke down and bought a bench sander for finishing soles. I also saw this video of this guy cutting the boot in half and breaking it down, and it's a really solid boot it looks like from the construction to the build and style I want a pair! Im a western boot guy and wear cowboy boots all the time, but I've never owned a pair of haritage boots. I'm super excited to try the grant stone deisel out!
Guys, if you are going to be out in the wild (not the concrete jungles) you should never cuff your pants. Never allow the top of the boot to be exposed. you'll get rocks, sticks, dirt, dust and critters (ticks) inside the boot. It will happen. Yes, it will. Dont argue. 😂 The only exception is if you blouse the pants and boots like soldiers.

You don’t need a longer end!!! All you have to do is the first goes through the very next and then skip an eye on each lace!!! They come out equally in the end! Be blessed! Enjoy your days!
