My best pair, hands down, which I've had for over 8 years, is Darn Tough Tactical, not the over the calf. Still as elastic and comfortable as new.

I work in sheet metal. I’m a shop guy, and literally on my feet all day. Currently dealing with a ganglion cyst on my right big toe. Started looking into maybe my socks being an issue. Hopefully some of these help with that. Good video.

I use Costco white socks for work but started looking into work socks with better moisture wicking properties. I’m a truck driver and deliver food produce. 13-19 stops over night for 14 hrs. Started wanting something better than just cotton. The fox river seems pretty up my ally. Need to try them. Thanks bro.

Hands down Carolina Ultimate Men’s Crew socks. Made with ultra-spun polyester, nylon, acrylic and RUBBER. They are the only sock that does not get holes in them. I’ve been wearing these socks for a year now and still not one hole. The only problem is they come in large or extra large and they are over the calf, so if you have a small foot these are not for you. I wear Ariat Workhog XT’s while I work at recycling yard and at first it was hard to get my feet into the boot but a small price to pay to have socks that don’t wear a hole in them in three months. I’m a heavy equipment operator now but I had to find something that worked when I was the yard man. Every sock I tried just kept getting hole after hole. Finally I tried the Carolina Ultimate with the rubber in them and voila! No holes. They don’t even remotely show signs of getting holes. The only other sock that has rubber in them is Timberland PRO steel toe work socks. I will try them and let you know!

Wool wool wool- very expensive- my pairs of Gildan platinums have lasted on average 5-7 years - no joke- tough to find now

After being a Wilderness and Rock Guide (both full and part-time) for over 40 years..."Cheap"...IS NEVER...!!!...the way to go...!!! Are the "Darn Tough" socks expensive...No, if you actually do a "real world" comparison to what you are getting...I have not bought any new socks since 2004 when I found Darn Tough...and no I'm not sponsored by them and I have only been given some newer socks to me for presents from family...I do also make my socks sometimes and can very effectively repair socks on the trail when I need to because...BUT...!!!...when I get back to the modern world, when after...TEN YEARS...!!!...I got a few holes in them I wished not to repair...I filled out a form...put the sock pair in a box, and got a new pair sent back to me...!!!...So whether socks cost you $1 or $20...in the long run...LIFETIME...means just that and you never purchase another sock again...which I have not since 2004...!!!

i just got steel toe boots and i was wearing Hanes cotton socks and the left foot was fine but the right small toe was rubbing against something in the sock it felt like a piece of yarn stitching it was painful also my boots felt like they had sand in them or dirt but there wasn't any sand or dirt. i normally wear Dickies from Walmart but they are a bit thick so i was looking for a thinner pair now since it is summer. anyway i need to find a pair that will work with the steel toe boots those don't.

Any idea if someone makes a workbook/construction type toe sock? The kind with individual toes like a glove for your feet. I’ve found a few but most are really thin and poorly made. Toe socks are great for me because they eliminate me getting blisters from my sweaty toes rubbing together inside the boots. Seriously they’re been a godsend but I have to wear 2 or 3 pairs of socks because they’re so thin. Any ideas?

(I'm not a firefighter) if I'm correct I think firefighters need 100% wool clothing to stay protected from the heat as the usual poly t-shirt or average pair of socks would actually melt to the skin. ( I'm speaking from a standpoint of hearing this from Wranglerstar here on YT when he used to fight wild fires in Washington state). Are there any good pairs of 100% wool socks that don't get crazy hot and cause sweat?

Hi Bill. I'm a steelworker and I work on a furnace. I have to wear steel toe metatarsal work boots. I'm looking for socks with cushion but that also aren't going to make my feet hotter than they already get. Would you recommend the Fox River lightweight or the Carhartt? Or are there other socks you'd recommend? Great video by the way.

I have several pairs of the Carhartt Force socks. They’re very comfy, but not durable at all. Heel has worn out after only a year of wear.

Merino wool not sweatwicking? Lol. Merino can hold 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet. It dries extremely fast as well.

I wear 6-inch boots 75% of the [time], 8-inch boots 20%, and loggers 5% of the time. I am engineer, so I point at things all day when I am on a job site. Thanks, for the advice on over-the-calf socks. I usually wear Dickies work socks with 6 and 8 inch boots. I wear Nike athletic socks, too. They are tall enough for the loggers, and come in left and right foot versions.
