Appreciate the shout out! Forgot my hair was ever that long lol. Giant also recently started making their own MTB forks. I'm thinking that will make them even more price competitive! Good job on this list my friend!
Thanks for the inspiration! People don't realize how much research and work actually goes into a video like this. I just talked about the stuff I thought was important lol. I didn't even get into geometry and all that confusing stuff haha. When I realized the Giant was a carbon frame for $1,850 I was kinda shocked. It was fun to do some research and learn some stuff I didn't know!
I think Giant frames are made in the same factories that Trek and a few other major brands are made... mainly in Taiwan. But Giant owns the factories so you are correct in saying they are made "in house".
Excellent video, you have a degree of humility about you when you speak. That's really good to see from a person, it shows their maturity. I just cycled from Northeast Ohio to Cumberland Maryland. Hope you're getting some riding in to and no working to hard. _______ I like you, like bicycles that have eyelets on the rear for back racks.
John, that sounds like an incredible ride! I have been riding a ton. We have had some nice weather here in Missouri. Thank you for the kind words. I really do appreciate it!
Picked up a aluminum topstone with carbon bars, cranks, and seatpost. With grx 1x and dt Swiss wheels for $2100 “used”. Had one ride on it. I’m stoked! It’s crazy light for an aluminum bike.
Wow. I am actually really jealous. I can tell you this, if I didn't already own a gravel bike, I would give the Topstone a hard look. My Caad10 and I have a special relationship...probably my favorite bike. Cannondales are just special.
I started watching your videos when prepping for my Katy trail run and came across your rock island/Katy trail videos.. Have you hit the Rock Island Trail from Arrowhead Stadium? Starts in the back of parking lot #3....It’s finished up enough now you can get all the way to the end of it in lee summit. I ended up taking the roads from the end of the rock island in lee summit to the MOPAC trail in pleasant hill that runs from the north side of pleasant hill right into the start of the rock island trail in pleasant hill, I went halfway to Medford before finally turning back to KC. Imagine if they ever finish that gap from lee summit to pleasant hill. Anyways, basically what I’m getting at is you need to do a video starting at arrowhead and highlight the new addition to KC showing everyone how easy you can ride from there through raytown, lee summit, pleasant hill and even continue on to the St. Louis metro with essentially never getting off the same trail.
DUDE!!! I had heard about this but wasn't really sure what the deal was. I am FOR SURE going to look into this. This would definitely be a cool video, especially for the people in the KC area. Thank You!!!
Also, the turner shelter house in Tebbetts is definitely much weirder than you led on lol. You somehow didn’t mention the sections of blinds cut out of the window next to the toilet, clearly allowing visibility from outside for anyone using the pooper or the random machetes on the wall in the bike storage room. I rolled in there at 11pm and everything felt beyond creepy. It’s amazing how a little sunlight and the birds chirping the next morning made the place feel a lot less like a stabby stabby murderish hellhole
Haha! I have stayed there like three times now. If I wouldn't have been completely wiped from super long ass hard rides, there is no way I would have slept a wink.
Looking for a good gravel bike I like the idea of a carbon frame on the giant because it’s upgradable. Because it’s 2 by eleven if I want a 1 by eleven in the future can I upgrade to that ? Second are there anymore bikes like the giant fully carbon framed in the same price range that could be upgradable in the future? Also, are there any other bikes that you would recommend where the components are cheaper but the frame is worth keeping and upgrading in the future? This last question might make for a great video.
Yes, you could absolutely make a 2x a 1x. Just take off front derailleur and put one the front chainring you want and then cassette you want. You would also need a 1x rear derailleur. Giant is a good value. The Canyon Grizl is a pretty cool bike at a nice price.
Giant Revolt have Tiagra 2x10!!! And the real differences with GRX 400 it's ONLY rear derailleur. Swipe it and vooala, you have GRX system. But in real world you will not feel big difference between two systems.
@@714SNF well the cannondale has aluminum frame but really nice parts. Giant has carbon frame with more entry level parts. Cannondale makes super nice, light aluminum bikes though. I have a Cannondale road bike and it's awesome. It may come down to what's available. I'd probably get Cannondale if both options were available. But that's just me...
@@714SNF they are very similar bikes and basically same level. Might come down to what you can get your hands on. I like shimano 105 but for a gravel bike I'd look for something with Shimano GRX.
