Great vid! I got a gravity from bikes direct for $350 and replaced everything Aftermarket to fit my style riding except the frame! I love when people look at what brand it is and then they look at everything done to it haha🤣😂
I picked up my Growler 40 as a used rental fleet bike w minimal use. It’s the awesome b/w color scheme and is an AMAZING bike. Moreover, I only paid $1k!!!
The best aggressive hardtail mountain bike is the new Nukeproof Scout 290 2022. The 1600$ entry level Race, comes with full Deore drivetrain and Deore brakes plus other great Nukeproof parts. Best geometry on a hardtail.
@@BikeHombre no dropper on the race. That is the price difference. Otherwise, same as mmmbop, growler, and Laufey. Laufey has internal routing. Mmmbop does not. Not sure of growler
I love the Marley! I always dreamed of a Marley, but they were always out of stock so I picked up a Piglet years ago and eventually build up the Mmmbop with the Piglet parts. Great bike man and you definently can't go wrong with Ragley.
Literally just ordered the mmmbop! Can't wait to get out on it. I was leaning towards the Stoic 4 as the mmmbop seems strongly geared towards descending and Im keen for some longer backcountry rides as well. I figure geo on stoic would be much better. Anyway since stoic is not available until sometime next year In NZ, I'd better snatch up the mmmbop and could always pick up a stoic when they come available. For how cheap the Ragley is I'm really interested to see how it goes 🤞 Anyway, thanks for the review. It really helped with my decision. Cheers from NZ
Congratulations on ordering the Mmmbop, I think you’ll love it. I appreciate the comment and let me know how you like the Mmmbop when you get it. Cheers!
Bought a Dartmoor Hornet frame put a 180mil suntour fork made 63 degrees hta. Though a very heavy build I like it's climbing. Btw they sell an already built too
I agree the ragley mountain bikes are awesome however the shipping and customs fees that are tacked on to the price don't always make them the best bike.
The shipping costs and customs fees seem to have gone up so much, it’s really disappointing. I still think they are worth it as a full build, but the frames are the same shipping price and it no longer makes them the deal they used to be. I still love the Ragleys, but I do agree with your point. Thank you for watching and the comment!
Rocky mtn growler and orbea laufey are best two... You missed laufey. All are under braked for big guys on long steep descents. But those are upgrades. Also, wheels are all lightweight for big boys
So on the MMMBop, if you were bombing down the hill and was thrown off your path or your trajectory, and it was a massive oak tree in the way, would that stop the bike? However, good review I like the canyon and the fuse myself
Some good choices here but i question any list that doesn’t have the SC Chameleon on it. The legendary bike is the bar by which others are measured to me and i don’t own one currently. Giant Fathom gets no love for some reason.
I’ve seen a lot of people mention the Giant Fathom; I totally overlooked it when making this video, but it seems like a great bike. The only reason I didn’t put the Chameleon is that the cheapest build is $2,600, so I unfortunately it didn’t meet the under $2k parameter. But I do agree that it’s a wicked bike
+1 to Santa Cruz Chameleon. I replaced my FS bike a few months ago with a Chameleon and it’s simply amazing bike. It should definitely be on any list of hardtails. :-)
I was on Wiggle last night checking out the Ragley hardtails after watching your review on the Mmmbop. While watching this vid I was noticing a lot of the bikes you have featured has like SX parts and a Recon fork. I started thinking about the Mmmbop and the upgraded components as shown on Wiggle compared to the others and before the end of the video I was thinking, "what about the Mmmbop?" Then sure enough, you got it at #1. I shouldn't have been surprised. The Stoic 4 seems like a really good spec for the price too but it's a good $300 higher than the Mmmbop. What do you think of the Marley 2 at $1400? Looks like it's got the same spec as the Mmmbop only for some reason comes with the Recon rather than the Bomber. Both look like killer deals. Edit: Actually I just noticed the stock Marley 2 doesn't come with a dropper so the Mmmbop looks like a little better value than the Marley. The Mmmbop truly is trail ready right out of the box.
I still contend that the Mmmbop is the most capable hardtail for the money. But if you're looking for a great hardtail for not a lot of money, and don't care if it's a Ragley, right now the 2021 Nukeproof Scout Race is on sale at CRC for $1,120. It's the same build as the Marley 2.0 and very similar geo. You can get a dropper for $120 and have a pretty awesome bike. Also, the Vitus Sentiers are on sale as well; great bang for the buck
@@BikeHombre Great deal on the Scout. That bike was on my short list last summer at a higher price but it was a bit difficult finding it in stock along with CRC's entire lineup. I just ended up going with the Rapide VR XC bike as a fallback when that one got restocked. Although not a true trail hardtail, I'm actually pretty happy with the the Rapide. A little better than I thought. Looks like the Scout's even available in a size medium right now, which is a bit surprising. The availability of that bike at $1120, especially with the across-the-board increase in all bikes for '22, is either a well-kept secret or else I imagine it's gonna go very quickly. Thanks for letting me know. 👍
I'm not sure about the Fuse Sport. It's not such a great deal at that price. I have the 2021 fuse 27.5 which is what the sport replaced, but my bike cost retail 1300 before the prices exploded.
We got two of these for our daughters ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L the same size for age 6 and 9. It works very well for both girls. Gears were very easy for them to learn. Changing gears up takes some hand strength and is a bit hard, but they are learning. They did not come with water bottle holders- we actually got confused and thought the Derailler Guard was the bottle holder!! Regardless of these details, the bikes are fantastic- even our six year old who only just learned to ride bikes caught on within an hour of practice and loves it. Lightweight and easy for them to handle. All the parts are in excellent condition and the bikes are easy to assemble and very well packaged. Great choice for kids!
My top 3 were really similar to yours... Growler and fuse looked really good. Where i am though, i found another that was easier to get, slightly less expensive stock, and out specced the others... Orbea Laufey. All internal cables, dropper, 140 bomber z2, deore slx 12x drive, 65 deg head angle. Brakes were 2 pot deore on 180mm rotors. I am a bigger guy riding the alps, so i changed these to 4 pot slx with a 203mm in front. Also added dh tires when at chatel, morzine, les gets, etc. Xc climbs are good with faster tires too. The bike does it all, just as the growler or the mmmmbop would have, but with internal routing, for less $$$
@@BikeHombre it is. I have been riding it lots the last two years. Xc, commute to work, pump track, and blue and red dh runs at portes du soleil. Im about the only hard tailie there. But i keep up ok. Upgrading to 4 pot was required. Changing tires to minions for the park also helped with speed control, stability, and punctures. Finally, upgrading from deore wheels to dt swiss 560 free ride helped allow the wheels to survive... Touch wood. That upgrade has not been tested yet as it was my xmas present.
I haven't ridden all the bikes on this list. I chose many of them based on the builds, geometry, desirability, etc. Admittedly, I didn't even think about the San Quentin. But now that I look at the build and geometry, I would have included the San Quentin and taken off the Kona Honzo. Looks like a great bike and I'm actually making my full suspension list under $3,000 right now and there is some Marin love on there. Thank you for the comment and great suggestion on the San Quentin!
Love the bike design ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube. All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.
Dude are u n a sound proof room or all up on your mike or something... Shit sounds way too f#¢π& shap.. like annoyingly sharp.. not trying to be rude I'm just saying.. good vid though
You’re right on the sound quality. I was recording with a headset and the sound wasn’t very good and this was one of my earlier videos, so I wasn’t sure how to adjust the levels. I appreciate the feedback and looking to improve quality on future videos. Thanks!
