1. You are not using active ingredients (retinol, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, etc) 2. You are not using your products all over your face (you are only spot treating) 3. Using products that are too stripping (alcohol, astringents) 4. Being inconsistent with your products 5. You are not washing ur towels, pillowcase etc. frequently enough
@Zabihullah Shakir Was gonna say this. When I turned 21 I developed acne similar maybe worse than the girl in the video. Isotretinoin made it so I never have acne anymore!!
I'm so happy I could have an appointment with a dermatologist! I use Doxycycline (med) and Tactupump (Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxyde) for now, and I am starting to see great results after only 2 weeks!
@@victoriaalvarado852 I paid nothing, I live in Canada and I got an appointment in a dermatology clinic 1 month after asking to my doctor! The Tactupump was around 200$, but I only paid 50$ because of my insurances! 😊
YES! this is the type of acne I deal with...never had acne before and now 4 children later I have had non stop severe hormonal acne, nothing I do makes it better and my skin gets very dry if I try to use something to combat the acne. 😬
@@Renlauian Harmon also acne is typically severe and under your skin it needs to be stopped from the source therefore it’s best to go to a dermatologist so they can either put you on accutane or give you some other medication. Topical treatments can only help so much, the source is inside of you and no topical cream fix that. Although it’s beneficial to use topical products along with medication they won’t help if it’s the only thing you are using
I learned very early on not to over strip my skin. When I first started getting acne, I bought two cleansers, one that was much more stripping than the other, and when I'd use that one, my face would get so greasy by mid-day. I found that when I used the gentler cleanser, my skin was a lot more balanced and didn't overproduce oil to compensate (and it actually helped my acne).
It happened to me when I started using benzol peroxide 10% twice a day, my skin got so oily it was nasty :/ now I use differin at night along with cerave products and wow, it’s still oily but WAY less
One thing that has really helped with my acne is to wear a bonnet at night when I sleep. I use product in my hair and I don’t wash it every day and wearing a bonnet keeps the product from rubbing off on my face at night and breaking me out. Highly recommend.
I’am 31 yo my acne has always been mild to moderate. I do have black heads on my nose which I have had forever now. I’am tired of having this type of skin. I discovered this channel about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I have been watching ever since. I’ll keep you both posted with my process.
Guilty on 4 counts! One mistake you didn't mention is picking at the zit. Been there done that, now I have some scars I'd like to get rid of on my chin. Good to know I don't need a scrub or toner. Everyone tells me I should & they are heavily marketed. I'd love to know what is the best thing to take off non waterproof makeup: cleanser or micellar water?
As a teenager...never really had acne...maybe a pimple every once in awhile. Now that im a stones throw from 50, hormonal changes due to a hysterectomy, and of course my mask wearing.....my face broke out so very bad. Already have a bha in my routine plus retinol usually 6 days a week, cut back my routine...cleanse treat moisturize....stop all my actives but the retinol....took about a month but as soon as one area cleared up...another huge breakout. The very last spot is almost healed thank god. I feel for everyone who has ever had it. Great video!!
please do a video on shaving tips - like which razors to use, which shaving creams etc, and how to avoid breakouts/rash after shaving. There are not many male derms on social media to help us..
Acne started for me during my thirties. It's so stressful. The only time my skin is acne free when I'm on antibiotics. And since my skin is very dry it starts peeling from all the medications, creams, lotions and potions.🥺
Please make a video on dark underarms. 1. Why people get dark underarms. 2. Which hair removal method should be followed for preventing dark underarms. 3. Treatments and product recommendations for dark underarms.
When he was listing the acids, e.g., bh acid, ah acid, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, etc., all i could think of was Forrest Gump listing the shrimp preparations he learned from Bubba: “There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.” ☺️
I'm sorry but benzoyl peroxide was the worst acne treatment for me. I used it for 6 years and it made my skin very dry and sensitive (I live in dry, cold part of Canada). While I was using it, I still had a few pimples every month. After my skin barrier looked completely wrecked, I finally swapped to tretinoin and that had worked so much better! I'm 1 year in and my skin barrier is in recovery. I wish my doctor had recommended me tret instead of BP from the beginning, I wouldn't have to try and back track and heal my skin! I also got wrinkles due to dry skin from using BP for years.
I would recommend seeing a dermatologist! It could be HS (hidradenitis suppurativa). The scars are terrible. Wash area with Hibiclens (OTC), apply a topical antibiotic ointment like Mupirocun (prescription), and take an oral prescription antibiotic.
Can you please make a pregnancy skincare routine for oily acne prone skin. Also, things to avoid during pregnancy including natural ingredients like liquorice extract in skincare.
I literally do everything you guys just said, very religiously. Even follow a healthy diet and some exercise thrown in and I still have acne all through the month which is very discouraging. I wish I knew what the reason was. Can you guys also please talk about PIH, even for brown/coloured skin.
Same to you Nikki Su. I suffered acne since 2020. I don't know what products I want to apply to suit to my face. I already had my skincare before but its not effective to me. I hope for those who suffered acne, we know what are the remedies for our acne, and it will heal soon
Same shit show here. Doing too much care is making it worse . Follow 3 simple skincare routine i.e acne - gel , moisturizer , sunscreen . Even it doesn't work , this can be a soul spritual crises going inside and it takes time. Our mind is killing our vibe
I use Dapsone (prescription) as an everyday prevention option, and wash with either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Then moisturize and add sunscreen. With consistency, it really helped me in ways that I actually didn't expect. My only issue now is a little bit of scarring. Maybe changing my pillow cases twice a week also helped. Also, I never dry my face with a towel, but just wipe away excess water with my hands until face is dry enough to apply things I use.
I realize I made the first mistake by not getting a cleanser with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which I should have to fight the acne. Instead I got the cerave foaming facial cleanser w/ niacinamide and been using it twice everyday for 2.5 months and my acne hasn’t improved much to me
I tried Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser Microclear technology from Neutrogena along with their On-The-Spot Acne Treatment with benzoyl peroxide. It helped reduce pimples and cleared skin. However, it seems like it was too harsh as my skin tingled. Trying Vanicream gentle wash and moisturizer, etc. Hoping this makes my skin much better 🤞🏽
Okay, I’m in love with your content! I got a question for u guys! I’ve been using prescribed tretinoin for à few months and didn’t notice any improvement (I used a niacinamide moisturizer before tret). I switched my moisturizer to a plain one ( just HA/Mineral Oil/ Urea) and now the improvement is flying! My question : Could it be possible the other moisturizer was “blocking” the tretinoin? And could you guys make a vídeo about what can we do to minimize the tretinoin side effects? Ps: you guys got a brazilian fan! Hyram was right, you guys do an amazing job!
First, thank you so much for your support! Niacinamide is unlikely to interfere with your tretinoin. Benzoyl peroxide is a known ingredient that can inactivate certain forms of tretinoin. I’m not sure why it wasn’t having effect before but sometimes these things can take time! To minimize side effects, try moisturizing before and after applying the tret. Also, use a very small pea-sized amount and spread evenly over the skin. You can also gradually taper up from every other day to every day
Hey I am also using benzoyl How much times it actually takes to show the effective work ? Actually it’s been 15 days I am putting benzoyl 2.5 percent and my skin is much worst .I have dark spot around the corner of my lip most probably hyperpigmentation. Does your skin also get worst before repairing?I mean should I use benzoyl or stop I am so confused With these I am using cetaphil oil control foam cleanser ,cera ve moisturiser and missha sun screen And in the morning I am using vitamin c serum
@@cancer5698 I just use benzoyl peroxide bar soap and panoxyl on my face. I started seeing results about 2 weeks after using it. I also use CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion afterwards . Also I use a charcoal tea tree bar soap with peppermint that I found on Amazon it also helps to get rid of my acne!
Thank you guys I am well educated by you just enlightened 🙏I suffer from acne since teenage years and going towards my adults years it just getting worse. The mask we wear everyday is so annoying because through out covid pandemic it didn't do any good but worse
I’ve been breaking out since we had to start wearing masks. I just thought my face was just oily so I switched to Cetaphil face wash. They mentioned face wash could strip you skin & I’ve been breaking out SO much more now 😭 Still trying to figure out what works for me :/ My face wash wash didn’t have anything to help fight acne so now I know thanks to this video! I will keep all of these tips in mind ❤️ Good things take time..
@@afshanmeer3120 I switched to Cerave SA cleanser & it has made my skin very soft & I have controlled my breakouts :) I still get some here and then but I suffered more from cystic acne while using other cleaners :(
There's definitely a reason to why I came across this video on RU-vid: ru-vid.com of Jyovis Ayurveda and I was very happy to see the results. I even followed few of the tips explained and it actually worked. Then I finally decided to contact on ...... (+917208190693) to cure my Problem from the root cause. The team really helped me a lot. Thank you Jyovis!
Azelaic acid, try google the one from the ordinary and see if it fits you 🙂 retinol can also help Aaand you can also try turmeric with honey if you want more natural alternative
Trust your skin, your skin knows what to do and it does heal on it's own. It requires a lot of patience though. Don't overdo things that much. Perhaps use Dove Gentle Exfoliating soap. Overtime things will be better. It works for me.
in the UK all my GPS have recommended astringents for my oily skin. I was also prescribed topical antibiotics without benzoyl peroxide and consequently developed resistance to two maim acne antibiotics. I was only given a retinoid when I saw a dermatologist privately
Hi Doctors - Can you please make a video on Skin Routines for people who have acne & sensitive skin? What Products do you recommend and How to use them? Thank You! God Bless
I started using active ingredients in the beginning of December and I completely cut off products that contain fragrance. I did a ton of research on how to use them but now, mid january, i am still struggling with acne all over my chicks and before that on my jaw and neck. I did not have that serious of a problem with acne before I started using them and I am still trying to figure out if it's only purging or if I'm having a reaction. I'm using only The ordinary and the fragrance free aloe line from The body shop. I tried Cerave for 2 weeks and it was probably then when my skin started acting.... I don't know what to do, I'm starting to get really frustrated with the way my skin looks..
Great video, I Wich hazel as a toner and the cerave cleanser ,and the black and white day / night teatime moisturerizer. I just started it and I love it.
Can you please do a video about how masks can cause acne and irritation to our skin and how to off set that? I e never broken out on my jawline and now I permanently have a couple of breakouts there. Also I just always have red pigmentation on my cheeks. 🥺
So I know this is an older video of yours, but I had an acne question and I figured I'd try asking even if you don't see this. Is using a salicylic acid cleanser every night okay for the skin? I don't do this at the moment, but I have pcos, and while my acne isn't as bad as it could be, I do seem to get pimples all the time. They're easy to get rid of with a spot treatment or the cerave SA cleanser I do use, but I get them so often I'm wondering if I shouldn't just use the cleanser every night to avoid new pimples. I switch off the SA cleanser with cerave's hydrating one to avoid over drying my skin. Seems to work well so far.
I’d like to see a review on facial bar soaps as I’d like to reduce plastic waste but I don’t want to compromise my sensitive acne prone skin even more!
Ouu soap bars are not really recommended for the face since they include harsher cleansing ingredients that the skin and our bodies can handle, but they're too harsh and stripping for our face. It's definitely not ideal for sensitive skin... Even actual cleansing bars designated for facial use contain these surfactants/cleansing ingredients.
What can I do (if anything) about hormonal acne? I have been using retinol and salicylic acid (and hyaluronic acid to combat dryness of those other ingredients) and these have done amazing things for my acne scars and my typical acne - however I still break out once a month around my period and I feel like this might just be something I deal with forever as someone with persistent acne. - also I almost exclusively break out along my jawline which is so frustrating because I am not even particularly oily there
🙋♀️ question! Are all spot treatments safe to use while using differin? (For ex- can I use dermalogica spot corrector while using differin on my active breakouts?)
Could you make a video addressing hormonal acne specifically? It is such a consistent struggle, with negative effects reaching more than skin deep- like mental health consequences. :( And so any information/advise hat helps would be very welcome
i've never really had problems with my skin before. it was only when I started working in the OR, with the caps and the masks that its becoming a problem.

Currently my daughter, who struggles with forehead acne, uses Panoxyl 4% both morning and night. In morning she just follows with Cerave Daily Moisturizer. At night she follows the Panoxyl w/differin and again the cerave moisturizer. Occasionally she will use Nizoral on forehead . Her forehead she still struggles with the acne, especially worst during her monthly. Should she use the salicylic acid products in morning and Panoxyl at night? Or do you have any other suggestions?
I use the Murad Acne Face Wash (for mild breakouts and pimples, I dont have cystic acne) and I gotta say it actually works. That shit cleared majority of my face in a week in conjunction with Thayers cucumber witch hazel. It can be a little drying though so use a good moisturizer. I got the Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Moisturizer in a fab fit fun box and its been my go to since then. My skin is sensitive so its been tough since my teens to find a good balance of stuff. But it really works.
I started using adapalene almost two months ago for my comedonal acne (it’s harder to get rid of since it doesn’t really show except for bumpy texture) and it seemed to clear my forehead up, but it made my cheeks worse i think...
