My Bf said " I love him" so I said who? Who are you talking about...what are you watching? He showed me.... And now id have to say...i love him more... Hahaha We both want to be his friend. I wonder if Peter understands how cool he is!!!!!???❤💚💚💙💜💙❤💚
That Arcology book looks awesome. I’d love to have that on my bookshelf. They’re all pretty cool though, (I own the Calvin and Hobbes one), and I totally get why these would be a great source of inspiration. Thanks for sharing. I love your willingness to do different videos now and then. Really sets you apart from the majority.
The calvin and hobbes book is a permanent addition to my desk. Bill Watterson is amazing. It gave me a flicker of extra inspiration to know you, also an amazing artist, like Calvin and Hobbes
Personally I've always found the art from Capcom games in the 80s and 90s to inspire me a lot. A lot of the artists there really knew how to deliver personality just in character art alone, not counting stuff like ensemble/flier art and promotional art which of course had a lot of personality usually
It might sound weird but I collect games and all consoles, besides sh*tbox, and some of my most treasured items are the cart boxes from Atari and Intellivision. The art on them is amazing and was the games only advertising. Sadly none of the artists or programmers were given credit so I picked up a book called "the art of atari" which pays these amazing people the homage they deserve
Great way to utilize your feet 😄 love Calvin and Hobbes. A few years back I found 4 at a book sale and they sold em to me for 1$! Was a glorious day. Also I like that theres a bit of something for everyone in the books you chose 👌
I was more of a, "The Far Side." (by Gary Larson) kind of guy. Honestly though, anyone that can get syndicated and stay in the business for as long as they did definitely had something going for them.
@@x-changex-outx-oner8224 agreed. Some days I need to be around people that make my face hurt from laughing so much. Omg tomorrow will be a month since I ordered those pens. The arrival dates have been changed to the 8th..like really?! Never ordering from wish again.
@@GhoulScoutCookie A month?! That's way to long to be waiting for anything from a company. Can you cancel the order and get your money back? Talk to your credit card company. That's what I miss about the Far Side, it used to be the only comic I would really look forward to its humor.
I wonder if you know Walter Moers, an author. He illustrated most of his books himself in an amazing style of inking. The tales he tells are also nice and take place in a strange continent called Zamonien, he invented. Love his work.
Thank you so much for this video! I always have trouble finding books that inspire me on Amazon. I ended up buying the Codex book, and the recommendations led me to two other Art books that will get the creative juices flowing again! Can't wait until they arrive!
Escher also said that he got frustrated because he couldn't transfer what was in his mind onto paper and he always struggled with that. Goes to show just how fabulous people's minds are and what they produce.
I'm going to buy the Amphigorey one, reminds me of my childhood books in the '50s - the black and white drawings, very little colour in what I read back then. I always enjoy your quirky choices, wonderful stuff!
These are fantastic! Your last video got me into the french comics and I bought The 6 Voyages of Lone Sloane. It's been an inspiration for my art, and a fantastic book to look at during special times with my friends :-)
As soon as i saw the thumbnail I did a high pitched gasp - love your videos!!! ❤They helped me to get back into art, also i really REALLY want to get the codex- an awesome book!
At some point or perhaps its happened already, there are budding artists making videos of books that inspire them and Dayfever is surely among their choices.
Great seeing those books, Peter. I think another artist that you would love is Saul Steinberg. Though I don't see him him as a lover of textural mark-making, he does love the (simple) line. Seductive, playful and clumsy-looking at times, but he's doing that on purpose. He's as deft as they come.
that book looks amazing. i miss a book i used to see on my parents shelf maybe one day i’ll find it. maybe you’ll review it. it had an mc escher stairway piece and a giant imagined road making machine -cartoon like and lots of yellow. those are my clues and u keep looking. love this series!
Seeing u sitting on the floor and being excited to talk about the things that interest u reminds me of a cute little kid. Ur way of viewing the world is amazing, as is the art
Love, love, love your videos, man.. you inspire me, literally, every single day to keep drawing and improving, so thanks! (ps: this isn’t self advertisement.. I don’t make YT videos and I don’t really intend to🤙🏼)
Hi Peter, your drawing style remember me to Jean Giraud "Moebius" the landscapes, the meat creatures and the use of ink. I'm wrong? did he inspired you?Do you know him??? I enjoy a lot your videos
It’s nice to know. I asked you on Twitch if any artists inspire you. Thanks for sharing :3 I thought to myself, someone or something had to inspire you at one point. ^_^
LOL he mentioned a Typewriter and I'm working on a Manual Typewriter as I watch this video and that Codex book reminds me of Scott Teplin that guys amazing
Same here, and it has me so confused. I was on fire and then just woke up and nothing, and it makes me feel like I am just lying to myself about even loving art, but I know thats not the truth. So confusing.
ive learned recently that motivation can be spawned from action challenge yourself and don't let yourself back out do whatever it is you do, and do it as often as you can no matter how motivated you are.
from another unmotivated person: set your self lists of things to do you can fall back on, surround yourself with stuff that inspires you to get up and go! try b as healthy as possibly with good food and excersize, but what i found most important is realising: there is no easy way to motivate yourself, some people just arent so driven (like me, sucks all my friends are) so dont beat yourself up, take every day as a new day and celebrate small victories :) also definitely try some counciling if your unmotivation is affecting yr life a lot i think everyone can benefit from trying some cbt
I remember my entire childhood when I used to read calvin and hobbes religiously I always thought that bill waterson was dead and only like a year ago I found out he wasnt dead. So now I really really very alot very much extremely want to meet him someday because I used to sit and wish when I was a kid to meet him even though I thought he was dead. Y'know?
Interessting inspirations u have, maybe u have look to "QUADRIVIUM", a Book about Arithmetic, Geometric, Music und Cosmologie. Maybe its a STEP back to the Roots but with some new compounds. And if u ever read a Books with words inside, u maybe have a look/ read to Stanislav LEM. Have a Nice Day.
Codex Seraphinianus! That was the book I saw excerpts/pages from like yeeeeeaaaars ago (on /b/ I think) and some of your drawings always reminded me of that style but I never could find it! Thank you a lot for this Peter! This feeling of fulfillment, of finally being able to google something by its name and read about it after years of looking for it! And this is not a joke, like my usual banter: I'm really grateful for this, my eyes even got a little wet* when you opened that book and the avocado-tree thingies showed up. *= watery? I would say watery in Spanish, you know I don't know English that well.
🅿️eter where do you stand on robots? Are you pro-bots or no-bots? A lot of people are worries about robots taking people's jobs like flippy the robot or the robots that replaced warehouse staff in the south of Britain. What do you think?
