2 weeks ago I was rolling with my training partner and while I was rolling, suddently i started to have dreams, I be like what the heck, got choked out actually
Exactly, got loop choked last week. Felt like i had been sleeping for 30 minutes and then a Sense of not knowing what is happening and increasing anxiety, then i came back
I always say to my students what I've heard from Marcelo Garcia years ago. No matter what position you're in, it could be top, mount , side control, guard or standing up, whatever it is, never accept a grip on the collar. Stop everything you're doing and take it out. Worked great for me since then.
Fight #1 (last one shown). That guy is the definition of class. If you’re not familiar with judo/jj, the way he laid that guy down on the mat was as gentle as could be. He even held on to his opponent’s leg to make sure that he rolled properly to avoid injury. Obviously he knew that his opponent was already out, so he set him down on the mat gently. And after he won, the humble expression on his face was as if he felt bad for defeating the other guy. No showboating or macho BS, Total class.
Olivier Travers LOL you just to go sleep nothing new.. the only thing I'll say it's weird is when you wake the FUCK up and wonder wtf happened where am i😂😂😂 that always gets me😂😂
Never been put yo sleep, have put many to sleep. LOL but I am just getting back into judo after 53 year hiatus. So no competition experience. The people I have put to sleep was my law enforcement years, saved my life and other officers, plus the person{'s} being arrested. One guy had tried to take a troopers gun after he had came at me with a sickle. BIG GUY, AND TWO TIME WRESTLING STATE CHAMP.
Side of the neck instead of wind chamber, cuts of bloodflow to the brain.....its kinda fucked up. If you hold that choke for even an extra few seconds the risk of brain dmg skyrockets
Great choke, dick move...........dude was out before he stood up to throw him over. No doubt he could feel his opponent go limp but the guy decided to show off.
madafaka David was a badass, israeli general who cut out 100 penises from defeated Goliaths soldiers to get kings daughter.. ... Goliath was actually a regular guy, David was a badass
Cool to know that you guys appreciate Nicholas Meregali, I train at a gym of the same label of his gym (Mario Reis) .. Nicholas used to go at our gym every Wednesday to teach us some moves and roll with the guys until some months ago but nowadays he's traveling a lot and very busy, I miss his classes he transmitted a good energy to our team... Regards from Brazil to you guys.. OSS
My 15 yr old grey belt has earned the respect of numerous upper belts because he has become very good with the loop choke. He is 135 lbs and guys were using heavy pressure and strength to torment him at class. He has learned how to do it with a loose collar grip with the guys forehead on his chest. Pretty cool variation. I hear guys tell him all the time before a roll "no loop chokes". Lol. I have seen him lock it in with his foot when someone goes for a double under. Crazy. But it is a great equalizer once he got really good with it.
I remember the first loop choke I got hit with as a white belt...I thought I was being all slick, letting this higher level blue belt's forearm rest against my neck, just WAITING for him to reach under with the other hand for the cross choke, so I could defend it. Then I saw him reach up with the other hand on the same side, felt it go over my head and BAM! I swear I could TASTE my throat, it was so tight! (Is that what she said?? Ah, anyway...) He called it The McNasty, because it was quick and nasty, and quick and nasty it was! (I believe that may ALSO be what she said, just fyi) 😆
I have two wins under my belt by way of Loop Choke on two different tournaments, “Tap Cancer Out” Boston and “Tap Cancer Out” New Haven CT. I can say that it’s one of my favorites.
Same here, but the choke was slightly different. I was sempai'ing for Sensei Ron Vowel, out of Carbondale, Ks, back in the early '90s. As a Nidan in Shudokan karate, I was teaching the karate side of the curriculum - Ron, a Sandan at the time (I believe) taught the judo side (Ron was a many-time tournament champion). Ron, as a note of interest, was a deacon at the church my wife and I attended. Ron also taught a private, Christian-themed judo class at his home. Ron used judo as a means of furthering his goals in bringing souls to the Lord; and as a component of his judo classes, there was a pre-class, one-half hour round-robin prayer, and another one-half hour warm-up routine; then, we got busy. In one of the classes, I was rolling as the uke that day and Ron was demonstrating a from-behind triangle technique. I was in the sitting position as he placed himself behind me and locked into the triangle position. As he was instructing the class on the proper application of the technique - I'm just sitting there listening - he begins to slap the crap out of me from behind! I'm thinking like . . . dude, wtf! It quickly became apparent that he had choked me out - and was simply, lightly slapping the side of my head to reawaken my passed-out self. :)
I member my first loop choke; I foolishly thought I could get out of it and I knocked out for 1.5 minutes. I remember waking up and not being able to hear anything and it was like looking down a dark tunnel.
Something crazy just happened today I met Roberto Jimenez at a seminar and I got to take pictures with him and shooke his hand but I wish he thought is the loop choke
Orange Inc yes i always escape that choke there is a dude in my gym where he does the loop choke and i always manage to escape it by turning towards it.
Thank you for showing this choke. I have no martial art skill background and I'm a teacher in El Salvador and someone tried to rob me with a knife.I was able to kick his hand and the knife fell.He then tackled me and we fell to the floor .Of course nervous but i remembered the left hand on his collar and my forearm going across his throat .And I pushed and pulled with all my might. And thanks to this video i was able to choke the thief out.I wish i could take classes
Gi is great and you need to practice in it 💯.... But some of these guys just practice gi chokes all day.......think there badass.....can't do shit without one on....
In how many street fights have you seen guys take off their clothes to start the fight? Some maybe. Point is any gi choke I can do if the other guy is wearing a t-shirt.
@@jeremyayers2281 Yeah maybe that's why some guys do that? personally, when i've seen it I thought it was more about protecting their threads getting torn. I had a fight in school where the guy tried to take his top off to protect it. I caught that shit when it was half way over his head and laid in the uppercuts. Poor fuck was half in half out his shirt :D
@@edmann1820 just saying I'm a black belt under Joe moreira....not saying you can't get lucky on someone who doesn't know anything...but streetfight shot don't work like that I'd be punching you in the face if you were trying to bow and arrow me or baseball me...hahahhahah
I retired out of World and International judo tournaments where I was blessed to compete against and attend Judo & BJJ Blackbelt UFC Champion *Marcus "Conan" Silvia's* BJJ Dojo on Miami Beach after fighting him for several months at the regional Miami Dade Community College Judo Tournaments. I know he is a cousin to Royce and the Gracie family but not in the immediate family. The Gracie's often when visiting came to his dojo. Prior to fighting him, I was on the USA National Team in Colorado placing in the top 3 of the country , ranked internationally and in my earlier under 18 years rated in the top 3 in jr. Olympics several times. Mr. Silvia's coach asked me to be a training partner of his for UFC tournaments so I agreed. Being on the national team, I did learn many new advanced techniques that I never seen before nor had it done on me so I was blessed to learn them. When I went to become his training partner, from Day #2, I was learning these loop chokes very well thanks to his coach and him. I later used these in judo tournaments and they proved to be a great asset on a national and state level for sure. It has been years since my last tournament and all I could do is teach children now due to a major life changing injury. A few of my students I aim to take all the way to the top as I have done many times prior with such champions as Christina Vasquez (Former world champion silver medalist) , Ruben Felder ( World Champion Bronze Medalist) and Felix Roder Muiltiple Jr. Olympic Gold & National Gold Medalist. I had many more but these are 3 I brought up from white belts who dominated their divisions.
You used to live in Austin, right??? And did videographer work?? I was in a band called the Dalles if that rings any bells hahaha I was just browsing jiu jitsu videos and saw your face. Crazy small world. Hope you're doing well brother!!
Any BJJ practitioners heard of a guy named Joáo Paulo Sousa? He says he’s been a black belt for 10 years , a gym opened near me and he put a blue belt in charge of leading BJJ practice, he also states he won Worlds 6 times but I can’t find his name or even in IBJJF ....I just don’t want anyone getting hurt after signing a no liability letter and paying $200 per month. I’ve trained several martial arts since the age of 4 , I went to this gym to observe and inquire about lineage , there was the blue belt & 5 black belts but the blue belt was “head” instructor, so I offered the $200 fee but no Gi no time limit submission only to all 6 of them , they called the cops on me. Joey Harrison was the Blue Belt None of the black belts offered their names Then I get threatened online by this Joáo Paulo Sousa who said he’d kill me. So I told him I’m at “his” gym where he wasn’t and none of “his students” wanted to roll even with me offering to pay the monthly $200 for one day roll with all 6 .
I will never understand non-Brazilian JJ as it's so dependent on the clothing they wear. Many of the throws, chokes etc... all require that really strong and reinforced fabric.
a BIG part of it is just the grip game, which can apply to even T-shirts, if you bunch them up. Any real life situation you'll be in will have a massive amount of grips available to you. You should absolutely train in BOTH the gi and in no-gi if you want a comprehensive game because of this alone. When you add in the additional submissions available to you, and the ability to know what its like having those same grips, throws and subs applied to you, you learn how to defend them. Its all pretty useful stuff. For what it's worth, Rener Gracie does a good video on how to apply the cross choke on a T-shirt up on youtube somewhere, its short well worth a watch
This is a sport I know essentially nothing about. But having just watched two videos on this, I’m both impressed and confused as to how this works so quickly.
I maybe wrong but I believe it's not what you consider choking like cutting off air flow but rather cutting off blood flow to the brain and your brain shuts your body down quick to preserve oxygen whenever that happens.
Not trolling. But.... why isn't a brown or black belt teaching these techniques on this channel against you? Just curious. Purple it up there and congrats on it. Just feels like...rather learn a loop choke from an instructor. All of us blues learn in class from purples, but..... never mind, drunk I guess. Just feels better when its brown and up. Hell it's your channel.do what you will.
No chokes are nice to take but this is for sure the swiftest.........but the worst is the fat bastard choke. Stuck face under a giant fat man tit or ten bellies is not pleasant and shifting the whale is impossible. Never seen or heard of this choke b4............ Long time since I rolled though. No collar grip is acceptable in judo ever. If this choke didn't happen you would be dumped on your head within moments. Always break collar grips or any grips on you for that matter.
Apprently its not a very common in my gym. Worked ver well with other white belts friends. And when i got smash in half guard, knee shield or close guard by other blue, purple or brown belt. Hit them with a loop choke can get me out of the bad place lol.
I've always had a fascination with martial arts but 0:04 is exactly the reason why I could never sustain training... This mufuka just gonna grab his toesies like he's in nursery and then wanna shake my hand afterwards... Fuk outta here
My name is Vance , I am a WHITE Belt. I was rolling with a Purple Belt , who had a bad day , an decided to take it out me. He damm - near broke my neck.
I think the gi should be taken out. No gi bjj makes more sense. Why not take off your belt and use it. I don't like those chokes because they are much too removed from real fighting. I like bjj for its ability to win a street fight. Becoming the best because you can choke people using their gi takes away from the greatness of the art.
been training jiu jitsu for 2 years now, never been a fan of the collar chokes. think it’s kinda weak choking people with Clothing.. but hey if it’s ur cup of tea go for it, in real life tho that’s not gonna happen
A standard ghi is stronger than most clothing. But the tactical opportunity to deny oxygen to the brain while the body is stressed is always a good option.
Looks cool but is this effective if you don't happen to fighting someone whose wearing that outfit? Questioning as someone who has never done this stuff and assumes this is to defend yourself not for a sporting event.
Gotta say, I follow mma, bjj (more loosely), collelgiate and olympic wrestling stuff. I happened upon your site and learned about the Loop Choke. I had never heard of it! I'm just curious how well it will work on a person wearing a shirt? I know men in mma don't wear shirts but the women do. I'm curious to see if we can get one of the female mma (ufc, etc) fighters to finish with a Loop Choke? Be one to add to your collection I'm sure. Time to run some tests!!!!!!
In an Ezekiel choke you grab your sleeve behind and bring your hand in front of their throat in a loop choke you grab their collar and put your hand behind your head and underneath your arm
