These are five very important and useful chokes to know and have in your arsenal. This is the No-Gi edition and I will do a gi edition later. These are in no certain order, but very useful chokes and some variations of each are included as well.
In this video I show how to apply:
• Rear Naked Choke / Short Choke
• Guillotine: Standing, Guard, High-Elbow & Arm-In
• Arm Triangle with Darce and Anaconda Variations
• Triangle Choke
• Epstein Choke / No Gi Ezekiel
I hope you like these and get some usefulness out of them. Let me know in the comments if there are any that should be included in this list as well. Thank you as always for watching!
Thank you for your continued support through watching and subscribing. Turn on those notifications to know as soon as I post!

Hey Everyone, you may notice that the video is stuck at 4 views for some reason (at the time I am typing this it has over 1000 views according to analytics). RU-vid support said it should update in 24 hours. Just for those of you who were confused or curious. I have no idea why they are doing that, other than something about the algorithm or something. Weird occurrence but hopefully it will get straightened out. Thanks for watching!

That was always so cool when Chris Weidman did the choke from top, Matt Serra tells him, it was instant death and tap! I would like to see some information of actually pulling into the Guillotine and where is best to load on them. There is a lot of variation on that! I am never doing a square Guillotine and always trying to V them into the Choke! Basic for you, but good video nonetheless!

Growing up in the 80s my best friend who I rolled with and scrapped for fun. I was 5'7", he was 6'3". He made me submit a hundred out of 100 times with this choke that I had never heard of before or since. As if two people were standing side by side facing the same way he would reach around my neck with his right arm and grab his right forearm with his left arm crossed over so that he had a full sort of guillotine choke on my my neck from from behind so I have the crook of my left elbow right into his Adam's apple and then or where he would do that to me and then he would just sort of arch his shoulders backwards and start to sit down sit down sit down almost like a catch your stance until he had cranked my neck all the way as far back as it could go cutting off all my oxygen and blood flow and I would I would block out and it was such a easy thing to do even being outside by somebody else you really use your shoulders your core your hips and you know a wide base just to sink to the ground with it letting go.

Fantastic chokes! But, your energy is too nervous, you need to slow down, to explain the movements around the carotids, the pressure on the trachea the difference between a strangulation, a choke and a neck crank with a choke. You need to demonstrate the chokes in more detail and at what point they could become dangerous neck cranks. Don't forget you're more flexible than most people. Since you're talking about Jiu-Jitsu Shime Waza techniqes use the Japanese terms instead of stupid terms like the "Epstein" and "Ezequiel" chokes. Most of these are not chokes, they are strangulations. The chokes, strangulations and their variants demonstrated in this video border on the spiritual for the Shime Waza specialist! In here, there is a truly great video in the making. Thank You. Thumbs up and subscribed!

The Arm Triangle has to be the choke I get the most mileage out of as a karate student, believe it or not. It's surprisingly useful if you're working a standup clinch and use an armdrag to set it up. Even if I don't get the choke, I have a LOT of control over their balance and can easily bring them to the ground into side control, mount, or back mount depending on what happens as we go down.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 3 года назад
Absolutely. The head and arm control mechanics are extremely useful in the standing clinch too. Great for Muay Thai as well. Thanks for the comment.

@@KnightJiuJitsu Thanks for the answer. I actually tried BJJ for 6 months a few years back, but life events kept me from regularly attending so I never got past white belt. But what struck me was how many of the movements from my kata showed up in the BJJ techniques I was being shown (of course it's to be expected as human bodies are only meant to move in so many ways and what makes the martial arts different is a system's chosen focus) and that short stint in BJJ really helped me find more versatility in my karate. That being said, I still hate being on the ground since I'm primarily a striker and if I do go to the ground, it's gonna be a very short trip for some quick ground and pound to stun my opponent so I have better odds of running way (plus being a bully magnet in grade school taught me that, for me, keeping my feet and staying mobile works better). Sorry for the rambling, but I just remembered something else. When I started BJJ, I wanted to learn the Triangle Choke so badly because it was my favorite submission to see pulled off. Then I learned that I have physical limitations which make pulling it off very difficult (mainly not quite enough flexibility and very thick thighs for my frame). But in keeping with head and shoulder control themes, I learned how to use the setup for the triangle to sweep from full guard to a very high mount with one of my opponent's arms trapped or I could threaten with the choke and use them pulling back to evade it as an opportunity to kick away from them and scramble back to my feet where I'm strongest. Not exactly the intended use for the technique but it works well enough for me, at least.

Guillotine choke 2:45. If you do that in a street fight, you'd surely get a knuckle blast right in the balls, wouldn't you? So it's a good way to get yourself incapacitated.
@jessiecherall5041
@jessiecherall5041 3 года назад
Does everyone needs to know these chokes? I mean literally everyone, including people who don't do BJJ? Or is that just click bait? ... On the other hand, as someone who doesn't do BJJ you wouldn't stand a chance against a well trained BJJ person, would you? So, maybe it's better everyone knows the chokes indeed. I don't trust people at all and you never know when they could attack you so... It's like a weapon. Not as damaging like a gun (at least not as fast), but still a weapon. You can't deny the moves and holds are actually meant to harm. They are designed to exactly do that. Nothing more and certainly nothing less.

This is a Jiu-Jitsu channel. If this were a quilting channel and I said “Five Stitches Everyone Needs To Know” I don’t think there would be a question as to whether or not I were speaking to literally everyone. I’m simply stating that everyone who trains in combat sports and martial arts should probably familiarize themselves with these.

Man you need a whole lot of practice for BJJ.. its very difficult to perfect one move and during matches to go for the chokes and locks that much more difficult..
