Great suggestions. I always appreciate your thoughtful recommendations. As a reader, it helps that they are not only based solely on popularity and stylistic form but also inform or challenge the reader about the human condition. And this "human condition" can be more extensive than an anglo-western one-women, BIPOC, and colonies abound and are seminal to the machinations of the actual and imagined literary world builders.

I'm glad to say I've actually read all these, except for The Old Man and the Sea. Great picks! I even wrote a paper in college on Heart of Darkness. That's a prime example of big things, small packages. :)

Great advice, novellas are a wonderful way to get back into reading, or get a taste of a new author. Love your list - especially the Yellow Wallpaper! Congratulations on more good work, Juan. I've read three of the books, but not the Hemingway or the Tolstoi. I do wish you would include a play or two from time to time. Hardly anyone on Booktube discusses plays except for Shakespeare or Oscar Wilde.
