Clionadh is totally worth the price point, pre order, and wait! Terra Moons would be another. I've missed the last 5 Devinah launches so that the only peeve I kinda have when brands consistently sells out I wish they would have a second launch on hand. But I understand why they can't. When you support small businesses you support they're dreams. Edit: Also even if a new indie brand launches a product that flops the next one might be a hit. Some are constantly reformulating and taking customers opinions to mind. I'm never harsh when I reach out but I will ask them "what's the best way to use it?" And explain what isn't working for me. They are more open to helping you if approached that way. Just a tip.
Indie brands also can't afford to eat the cost and waste if they overestimate demand and over-produce. If we want them to be ready for their launch days and not overwhelmed by demand, they would need to plan to over-produce a lot of extra product. If Colourpop guesses wrong on that it's no big deal, they can discount the palette to sell it off eventually and eat the loss. But for a one-person show it's a huge cost to eat, not to mention the hidden cost from the time they spent over-producing instead of working on a new, more successful and lucrative launch. I do get frustrated with the constant website shutdowns on indie launch days, but I need to remember to keep this stuff in mind. What do you think of brands that only post their shipping delay updates on Insta, instead of messaging their paying customers directly? I see that a lot and it's a pet peeve of mine.
Brands, regardless of size, should email customers who currently have open orders AND make a post on their website if there are shipping delay. Not everyone has a social media account nor will ever consider heading to the brand's social account before going to their website to shop.
The reason why I still buy a lot of mainstream is ... the fact that shipping to Europe is sometimes just insanely expensive or not even available. I AM STILL very unhappy that I cant get Menagerie. I want to try them so bad but they dont ship to my country and they also seem to not ship to PO Boxes because I tried that, they canceled the order without even asking - they just did. And I never got any response back. I just really wish it was easier to get some indie brands here to Germany.
What a bummer... and I‘m completely with you when it comes to shipping etc. Being Swiss might even be worse I guess - can’t even order within Europe without customs & taxes 🙈 and we do have way less mainstream brands in shops here.. so, maybe that helped as well, that I often enough ended up ordering from indie brands anyways 🙈😄 I understand that my beloved indie brands don‘t have shipping deals like big brands... and it really stinks... but due to „my personal big A’s“ (Angelica, Amy & Annette) I did order anyways 😂 sure, others joined and are to „blame“ as well - but they started my love for indie brands big time - and I love those ladies even more for it ☺️ (my account disagrees, but well 🤷🏻♀️🤣) Sorry, I seem to be in a chatty mood 🙈 I try to be a conscious consumer and not spend too much.. but after some experiences, I guess now I‘m at the point that when I buy makeup; 98% is indie makeup and I love it very much. Not to say you should, just to share my experience, as we share some similar difficulties getting those pretty things ☺️ hope you‘re having a lovely evening!
@@juliettemathier Awh this is such a sweet comment though. I get you for your sure. I buy a lot of indie too. BUT if it is super hard to get my hands on something in particular and I know some other brand has something similar - i will think about it twice. Eyeshadows and Highlights I do prefer from indie brands for sure, but ... there are other things i rather buy from brands that are more accessable.
Judy {BooksCriticism} thank you very much for your sweet reply ❤️ I hope it‘ll get easier for everyone to get a hold of this precious beautiful things in the future ☺️
Since you mentioned comparing ColourPop to Sydney Grace, I wanted to share my experiences this week with both companies’ customer service. Unfortunately, both companies made mistakes in shipping my recent orders. How they handled the mistakes was very different. First, I ordered a few items from ColourPop, including the Fresh Cut eyeliner set (new pastel set). I had this set in my cart when it launched, but when I clicked to pay, the wait was so long that it had sold out by the time I actually got through the queue. I had to wait for the restock to purchase it. It then took a little over 2 weeks to get my order. This is pretty standard in my experience with ColourPop, pre-COVID-19. They send you an email saying your order shipped, but if you check your tracking, for at least a week, it will say USPS awaiting package. When I opened my package I discovered I had received someone else’s order. My name/address on the outside, and someone else’s name/address on the packing list. I emailed ColourPop. It took 48 business hours to hear from them. I was informed that they would send me a replacement order, but some items, including the Fresh Cut liner set were no longer available. Not only was I upset about having to wait for, hopefully, a third restock, but instead of issuing me a refund, they want to give me a store coupon that will expire in 3 months, has to be used on a single purchase and cannot be used with sale or discount codes! Also they did not refund my sales tax. The email said, “Sorry this happened to you.” Classic corporate don’t assume responsibility speak. I have no guarantee that they will restock the Fresh Cut set within 3 month and if not, what if there is nothing else I want in that time period? I sent a reply but they have not gotten back to me. As for the package I did receive, I don’t have to return it, but it’s a single palette I already own. I’ll give it to a friend. Contrast Sydney Grace, I ordered 2 palettes on Friday. Also shipped by USPS, and I received yesterday(Tuesday). Unfortunately, I only received one palette. I contacted customer service. Received a reply in less than an hour. Immediately apologized and accepted responsibility. Could tell from weight of package that there must have been a mistake. Was incredibly polite. Will be sending my other palette ASAP. Tried the palette I received, Little Marvels. I love it. In the future if something from ColourPop comes to Ulta and I want it, I’ll buy it, but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing directly from ColourPop.
Love this comparison! So true! And I’ve noticed too when an indie brand messes up they often go out of the way to throw in extra goodies or whatever to help 😊
Yep! I’ve not ever had a bad experience with customer service luckily HOWEVER when I had a shade come broken in my Sandra Rose palette, the lovely owner sent me TWO of the broken shades. One to replace with and one as a spare with a magnet just Incase one broke but if not I also had another one. Receiving the package made my heart fill with warmth and I just dropped another hundred on them yesterday & cant wait to get them 😍
Yeah Sydney Grace is amazing from customer service in my opinion. I've noticed most indie brands are as well. I've also dropped buying from mainstream n some indie brands that treat customers like colourpop treated you.
I think preorders are great, I wish more companies did them tbh. I think it would be really cool to have preorders for resuplies esspically. Because at the restalk people have watched reviews on the palette, seen if it's good, and will know if they really want it, and if you are waiting for a restalk you have to wait two, three, four months anyways. Idk, I just think that would be cool.
I agree. Maybe once its a more accepted form of purchase we will see it more. I did my first preorder with terra moons, I think the wait feels harder because I'm not used to waiting. If Devinah did pre-order I'd get all the ones Amy favored in her video 😍. I do like they at least have an notification option to be notified of restocks at least 👍
One thing I love about indie brands I love is the reason behind them and personal touches. Like Cheekbone beauty as a Canadian indigenous brand who supports many charities and causes, Menagerie who donates some profits to animal welfare, stuff like that. And just like personal touches in general, like Sydney Grace being named after the two daughters and naming the lip creams after women in their life (and it is an amazing product btw) 😊
Love that you brought up having patience. So many times we get sticking the quick shipping of bigger brands and forget the small indie brands have much more to personally do and going on. With that being said, even though it is just makeup and I have no problems waiting for it, their customer service does need to be on point when customers have questions about their orders they spend their hard earned money on, they need responses in reasonable times. For the most part, my indie experiences have been my absolute favorites. Which you said right after I unpaused after making the comment, lol
I feel like indie producers have more freedom to create -- they don't have to go through the approval process so they are freer to imagine colors and color combinations you don't see in mainstream. I love this aspect best regarding indie brands, but I feel that the larger mainstream brands have science and research behind them, so I feel that buying indie can be riskier from a health and safety perspective -- but I watch a lot of reviews and see what other people say and if they have any irritation or problem, and then purchase. That's why your channel is so important. I've made a lot of purchases based on your reviews. In fact, I just received two z palettes and 24 eye shadows today from Coastal Scents. I created a green/brown palette and a purples palette. Thank you for your great information and for your sensitivity to human kindness. As a life-long Amnesty Intl & human rights advocate, I really appreciate that very much.
I’m obsessed with indie makeup now. I don’t even like buying regular pallets because brands like clionah, jd glow, devinah do multi chromes etc so much better ❤️❤️
I don't think indie makeup is expensive, I only buy singles and usually indie singles range from $4-$8 (except multichromes of course) which is a totally reasonable price, especially if compared to some high-end brands that offer singles.
@@sherimorgan7107 u can find some abh singles for $3 and $4 @ Tj max r marshals. Now if u want amazing matte singles check out Mengarie they have by far best matte formula I have found
In my experience of makeup now, I would much rather wait for a preorder and have a couple expensive, incredible shadows from Clionadh, for example, than go buy a mainstream palette that’s just “good.” I love this video, Amy!
I love clionadh too, but to me I wish their shipping was shorter because it is usually 3-5 months. If it was that long of a wait I wish they would say items won't be shipped out for months like adept does. Granted their shadows are gorgeous, but when I order from them I am now expecting to wait very long periods, so I usually think hard before I buy from them. I do agree though that I'd rather buy more from indie than mainstream. I feel indie has more variety n stuff u just can't find in mainstream, especially when it comes to a shimmers n multichromes
Paying for shipping is something I had to be ok with. I used to think "omg I will NEVER pay for shipping" but knowing the background of a brand helps me try to be ok with it.
I also think that the postal service needs to be paid as well. I don't wanna be a person worrying about jobs not paying enough and than not being willing to pay for a service. How would people get better wages if us customers won't pay up? I wanna walk the walk, you know? :)
Amy Loves Makeup $20 shipping is like $40 shipping for us in Australia. Glaminatrix has $11 express shipping & FANTASTIC quality products, so I’m super excited to get the order I made yesterday!
Damn, the entitlement 😬 It's great that you made this video. That way people can understand that not everything is mass produced. I've been eyeing indie brands more since i found your channel as well as theresa is dead. Def going to check out the google doc!
I don’t mind the wait so much - being in Australia you get used to that. What I find frustrating is the difference in shipping costs. So I just bought the Tokyo Harajuku from Nomad for $38 and paid $15 shipping. No problems with that. Been wanting the Give Me Glow Vintage Rose for more than a year. An equivalent cost for the palette to the Nomad one - but shipping is more than the cost of the palette. :(
Also an Australian & omg it’s sooooo annoying!!! Have you tried glaminatrix? It’s owned and ran purely by one lovely woman and her products are sooooo amazing and her customer service is so good too!
Thanks to you Amy, I’m more versed in indie brands than I was even a year ago. One of my favorites is Terra Moons Cosmetics! They’re located about and hour and a half from where I live, so it also feels like I’m supporting a local business as well. At first I didn’t understand the pre-order process, like why do I have to order a month before it ships? But I understand they are small and don’t want to be sitting on a bunch of extra product. It’s actually a smart business model if your customers can be patient. Sydney Grace is another favorite of mine, and their palettes are kinda pricey, but the quality is incredible! I would rather purchase from an indie brand and support them instead of larger companies.
Amy has definitely turned me to Terra Moon n I do not regret any of their shadows. In fact, I'm waiting for my pre-order from this month. I love that they do monthly pre-orders
As much as I love that corporate companies offer quick free shipping and are quick to refund just because its not worth the customer hassle... i feel that entitlement has bled over into non corporate business and its just so unrealistic to expect small or indie companies to take the financial hit these giants do. The more education on the realities of business the better, hopefully then people with have more respect and understanding instead of assuming failure because they cant match corperate companies.
I should add that there is no excuse for bad customer service big or small and that is how I rate a business. That doesnt mean bow down to the customers demands or respond within 1 hour etc.. for me it's respectful, honest, timely and fair.
I have purchased a few times from Clionadh cosmetics, a small indie brand. What a fantastic experience! Customer service was beyond amazing, and they hand-wrote notes on my orders when I received them. Would buy from them over and over. It took a while to ship vs. Sephora but worth every penny.
L I V I N G for your whole look today!! The red lip combo with your pink eyes and shirt looks stunning! We mostly focus on how your makeup tastes change but the way you dress has grown up too. Your style is so feminine and sophisticated, I love it!.
love that you made this video! with preorders, another concern is that the cost of materials and production can be difficult for a smaller brand to handle. a preorder allows them to use the money their customers have paid to manufacture the product instead of going into debt
I have to share an embarrassing story. When I first started watching beauty RU-vid a few years ago, whenever someone would mention that a product was Indie brand, I always thought it was makeup from India and that’s why it would take so long to get it! (Slap to my forehead) 😂 My favorite indie brands are Persona and Dominique Cosmetics 😊❤️💄
Such an informative and great video! I‘m really glad I went down the „indie rabbit hole“ a while back - and the people inspiring me most were you, Angelica & Annette - the very first colourful creators I found, sticked around and shared their love for all those brands I‘ve never ever heard of before 😄 I‘m glad I already knew about the waiting, shipping etc. and while it is not exactly pleasant (especially when your favorite brands are in US, Canada or Australia and you live in Europe 😄) I think it‘s completely worth it. Also, I‘m much more comfortable spending my money on little brands and supporting them and their dreams, than to feed big businesses. I‘m aware that , „brands are not people“ but I can‘t help myself to feel connected and loyal to some indie brands... and at the end of the day, it feels more personal than if it was one of the big mainstream brands 😄 (I know, my way of thinking may only make sense in my own head 🤣) Hope you & everyone here have a good time and are well ❤️
Love your pink furniture. So feminine!! The Covid has REALLY slowed down things. I bought some stained glass Clionadh eyeshadows, for the first time, 5 months ago and it was a preorder. I had to shoot an email to them. I almost forgot about it. Finally, they shipped it the next day. Love preorder, in general though. Wish Pat McGrath, ect, did that.
I love indie makeup so much - for shadows and highlights, I find nothing else compares to the quality and deliciousness of indie. The pre-orders, shipping and cost is just worth it from my point of view. I am willing to spend a bit more on amazing products that genuinely make me feel excited - to play with colours / formulas, and create looks. Supporting smaller indie businesses / local businesses are so important to me, especially now. Between you and Angeschka, I am down the rabbit hole lol Thanks so much for supporting the indies ♡ Have a great week everyone!
Most mainstream makeup brands process their makeup through machines and are always trying to find ways to spend less money and do things more conveniently when it comes to creating and packaging their products. And I think that has a lot to do with the demand from all their consumers. They don’t have the time to make the products the best they could be like smaller indie brands do.
Omg I was legit thinking of someone who should do a video about this and the next day you make this! I love this. Thanks to you, Annette and Angelica, I'm starting to really get interested in indie make up. I feel like, yes, they are expensive, its kind of an investment if you buy a bundle or what not but judging by your videos, they do really seem worth it. They have special colors and multichromes etc, which you don't see in mainstream pallets because they're expensive to make and to sell out like in a palette that they manufacture 50000 pallets. Also what's also interesting about indie make up is the fact that they get to make it through sweat and tears and a lot of heart. Bigger companies at times just keep coming out with a lot of products to not be forgotten, while indie brands make (usually) quality over quantity.
I'm an indie makeup convert since watching you. You were especially helpful because your reviews gave me a sense of what's worth the money and made me more comfortable taking a risk with an unknown brand
I've come to really appreciate pre-orders since it guarantees that I will eventually get the item, especially for items that are super likely to sell out too quickly, I'm looking at you Menagerie tri-folds.
I haven't purchased mainstream makeup in ages. I've tried so many "ok" products that were ridiculously priced for the quality, that I decided to give Indie brands a try. Angie and yourself, really opened my eyes and I've spent hundreds on some gorgeous and totally worth it products. I'd be willing to wait months for an Indie purchase to ship because in the end, it's SO worthwhile. Like anything though, do your research
This was a great video for those that are new to indie makeup! Patience is definite important but the wait is very much worth it for everything that I have tried. I also love knowing that my purchase is supporting an individual(s) and not a large corporation. Indie makeup has really impressed me and is much more interesting than mainstream makeup. I've been bored with everything that mainstream has come out with.
I started buying from indie brands last year and it's been so awesome! The quality is something else and the community of people who use indies is really great. Just bought the Looxi Butterfly Kisses collection and a few shadows from Klarity. Klarity got to me four days after I ordered, and Looxi has taken over two weeks. Every brand is different and it's so fun to try new formulas with colors mainstream brands don't do. I've previously bought from Juvia's and been gifted Kaleidos (I want to buy more from Kaleidos for sure! Juvia's is less enticing bc I'm way more into pastels and multichromes)
You've inspired me to try indie makeup!! I've never really bought any but next year I plan to! Currently looking for an indie dupe for my perfect nude lipstick as I'm panning it this year.
I totally understand your points. It might help if brands would communicate or give updates either on their website or through social media. There are some brands that you are not sure if they are waiting for restock, discontinuing an item or going out of business. Anyway...you and Mel Thompson are the reasons I started looking at indie brands. I hope they know how much of an advocate you are for them.
this is so helpful amy! your channel has made me so interested in indie brands and this is so helpful bc i haven’t made a purchase from a smaller one yet ❤️
I feel lots of indie companies can learn from terra moon, adept, and a handful of other indie brands. Some are great at being transparent, others really need work.
This was really nicely done. You do a great job of explaining some of the reasons things sell out or take so long. I am always amazed when JDGlow and Devinah ship SO fast, because I know how small they are. I was happy to see Emme switch to a close and restock model, so that she wasn’t constantly out of things, making the shipping prohibitively high for the one or two items you could get at a time. I also want to mention that the shipping cost could be absorbed into higher prices (which is what some big companies do) but most Indie brands are trying to be transparent about the actual cost.
Thank you! I struggled so much filming this video and trying to explain myself well so I appreciate that. And yes very true. Some customers would rather have the higher price and free shipping too which is funny to me 😂
Hi Amy! Thank you so much for this video (and the red flags video which I'm watching next). So helpful and informative, especially for those of us just getting into indie brands and wanting to know more. Appreciate your insight and thoughts!!
Hey Amy! I was wondering if you could do an indie starter video (which brands do you recommend to grab items from and what are those items) or a best of indies video (like best matte, best shimmers, best glitzy shades, best overall brand, best lip products and etc) ? I'm newer to smaller indie brands and I really want to try more. There are a lot of brands people have heard of like Clionadh, Devinah, Menagerie, Terra moons, JD Glow and Give Me Glow, but there are a ton of brands that aren't as well known.
I would always prefer a pre order because at least I know I can definitely get the product 😍 Indie brands have made me so excited about eyeshadows & if it wasn’t for stumbling upon your RU-vid channel I never would have even known indie makeup existed ☺️ so thank you ❤️
I’ve definitely made the turn towards smaller indie brands as of late..🤗 currently waiting on my 1st order from copacetic cosmetics, do you ever use their products? ✌🏻❤️
They are fantastic. I started off with their monthly boxes but quickly moved up to purchasing singles. Plus the owner does a 2 dollar sale the first Tuesday of the month. Normally 4 or 5 eyeshadows are on the sale.
Deliteful 365 I have also signed up for the monthly subscription, I chose the small $10 option to start, also ordered a few singles and a lip scrub on two for Tuesday, plus convinced a friend of mine that she really needed to place an order, she did! Lol 😂 we are both so excited to get our goodies and try this brand out! ✌🏻🤗
Just started trying products from indie brands. To me, there's more of a personal touch. Yes, big brands have humans packaging their products and shipping them. It's just different. And the more personal the touch, the more likely I am to purchase from that brand again and tell my friends about it! Sometimes we need to go back to childhood and relearn the lessons of patience 💜💜💜
I think it’s smart that some brands do preorders. I don’t mind waiting as long as I know it’s going to be around whatever amount of time. If there’s a delay, it’s fine. Just say so. I prefer small Indy brands over mainstream or some larger Indy brands
U summed up exactly how I feel about indie brands. I love indie brands, but am turned off buy those I have to wait 2+ months on, that do not say the wait may be that long or longer when I order
Im very selective with what I pick up from indie brands because you can end up with multiples of very similar things. sometimes I get overwhelmed with the options in indie brands as well
Lol , I’m in Canada and I’m used to shipping delays. If something gets to me with 2 weeks, that’s super quick! I usually don’t mind waiting, as long as the brand keeps me updated via their website and social media. Plus I have more time to save up for the very expensive shipping cost
I completely understand. Not all indie brands are like that though. Also with the PayPal thing I always research a brand and look for reviews and things to see if anyone has had problems ordering through them. In my experience as long as its a brand people like amy recommemd im gold.
I have definitely exhibited patience when it comes to my Kristen Leigh order placed 5/20/20! It shipped on Monday! She is a perfect example! Definitely overshot the 6-8 week process time. But she was in touch. I appreciate that. I know it's worth the wait! This video was so necessary! I love Indie brands! I never would have known anything about them if not for you and Angie! 💚💚💚💚 P.S. I didn't notice the drawer until you mentioned it! 😂
Very helpful for someone new to Indie brands. Thx! Also, do you have a video ranking your top indie formulas? I'd love to try some new brands but don't know where to start.
Thanks for clearing up the misconceptions. I've had argued with people over the meaning of indie, and let me tell you some people get very angry even if their wrong.
Great Video Amy so much information. It's hard to know for sure who is indie because you never know whether there are investors behind the scenes. Do you know if BH Cosmetics is indie?
thanks for this interesting video! i love buying indie and i think most of the brands are absolutely great in communication. i love seeing them grow and i myself are 100% willing to wait for shipping, restocks and all those things. living in germany makes the waiting time even longer, but for now it was worth it everytime. 💚
I recently bought the Alva pallet from Oden's eye cosmetics and I love it! I've been wearing it a lot however, the formula kind of reminds me of the Jaclyn Hill Volume 2 Morphe eyeshadow pallet. The more glittery shades in the Alva pallet feel extremely similar, if not identical, to the glittery shades in the JH pallet. Just my opinion. I looked on the back too and they both say made in China. Thought it was interesting. Love both of them though!
I almost never bother speaking about Lime Crime, but it's worth mentioning that it can also be hard to decipher where the line is because as consumers, we're not there for the conversations or to see what happens behind closed doors. My issue with Lime Crime, is when they went into overdrive to fix the problematic image of the company, the new CEO did an interview 2 years ago with JKissa. The CEO did not hide the fact that Xenia Vorotova (Doe Deere) is still friendly with the team and continues to visit the office and check in. For me personally, I don't classify that as separation. Is she potentially still advising the team? Is she still helping with color choices, products and formulations? 🤷♀️ If her past controversies are not something that you can look past, then it might be worth considering that there's still connections there.
From a literal indie makeup brand OG, what would be your top 5 most trusted indie makeup brands? That have great customer service, trustworthy pricing, great quality that sustains over time and doesn't expire in like 6 months (for instance ABH), good unique qualities to them, etc. I'm ready to start my collection over and chuck all my expired mainstream makeup and have a plethora of unique and also colorful indie brand makeup.
Over time I've found that my most favorite palettes to use are all indie brands. Much of my collection is from indie companies. I also greatly approve that indie brands are often cruelty free, and that's an important part of my buying habits.
I will do a pre-order, however, seeing folk get PR when you have a backlog is annoying. A company that handles backlog well is Kristen Leigh cosmetics. She shuts down orders until she's caught up.
I love indie makeup and I've learned about so many fantastic brands from you Amy. One thing I'm curious about is that I've experienced single indie shadows shattering or crumbling out of their pan which is a problem that I've never had with a corporate brand. Is it true that because indie shadows are not being mass manufactured they aren't pressed as hard and if so does that mean 1) they need to be handled more delicately and 2) that is the reason they are often so much more impactful than mainstream corporate shadows?
Some shadows are pressed literally one at a time. I think Glaminatrix has a video of her pressing each shadow individually! I'm guessing the machines they have in corporate brands are massive and are able to press harder.
I have two points I would like to share. One is that I don't mind pre-order. It is better because at least I can have what I want without the anxiety that the product that I want is out of stock when I went online. That is because of time difference, while I am in East Asia trying to pick up US or Canada or Europe products, the sale start time usually happen during sleeping hour. I do not want to sacrifice that just for a sale! The second is shipping costs, well that's something that Indie brands need to get to work for. Especially international shipping costs. I don't mind if it is up to 10USD, but if more than that I have to make sure that the products I buy is worth the shipping. I usually shop once a year from brands I like just to justify the shipping cost, and checked RU-vidrs that I trust for their reviews.
I can't stress the value of patience. I'm still waiting on chlionah from an order I placed in May. Thank God I order from indie brands that have faster shipping. I understand they are smaller but I don't think I'm going to order from in the future unless it's a big order.
Ooh no, that is WAY too long. No indie brand I have ordered from has taken that long, even the ones in another continent. 😬 I would hope that they have at least shipped it by now 😕
Yes I’ve waited several months for a few Clionadh orders as well so I understand. I plan them out and don’t do them sporadically because I know it’s gonna be a while.
It’s always taken a long time for my orders to come from Clionadh. I’ve made 3 orders. One took 3 months, the others over 2 1/2 each. They have always been worth it. I am more willing to wait for them than other companies, because they are so special. That said, I certainly am not ordering from them frequently. I don’t have the money.
I have better luck ordering from Clionadh outside of a launch. COVID really affected them too as for the first part of the pandemic they couldn’t be open, then could only have one person in the office. They did have good communication (at least with me) about their issues and delays. My 2020 order took the longest and I didn’t order any of the stained glass collection.
I understand but I sometimes struggle to know what is actually private label and what isn’t. Some people will see a “cheap” looking palette and automatically call it private label and I’m just like where’s the proof? 😅😅 Of course I’ve seen brands like Notcye sell alibaba eyeshadows that were $2 and mark them up to $16 each saying they are handmade. That’s just so wrong ☹️
Waiting on a Sydney Grace order since the beginning of June lol! I knew it would take ages anyway cos I'm in Ireland and the Covid delays. Fingers crossed it's not lost in the post!
See I'm fine spending a high amount on the product itself but I do stop & not buy when the shipping is the price of the product due to living international! I personally have shipped packages that weigh more than one palette would (even with all the bubble wrap and packaging) to the US and paid less than what some indie brands are trying to charge. Menagerie is my main example of that. Their shipping for me for one palette is more than the palette making it $68US ($90CAD, $95AU) which just isn't okay. I know I could ship it for less.
@@AmyLovesMakeup I've held one so I know how heavy they are and I'm seriously saying I know I could ship it cheaper. The reason I know is a US friend brought one for me and is shipping it to me....cheaper than what Menagerie tries to charge
